00:15earthquake hit southern Kumamoto prefecture on Tuesday, knocking out power to thousands of homes,
00:21rupturing roads, stopping rail services and triggering tsunami warnings and aftershocks.
00:26The quake's epicenter was about 20 kilometers south of Kumamoto's central Kyushu Islands,
00:32largest city with a population of around 700,000. Around 300,000 people have been
00:38reinstructed to go to evacuation centers to prefecture's disaster management agency said.
00:43A tsunami warning was issued immediately after the quake but was later left. According to emergency
00:48services, one hospital had reported more than 50 injuries including some trapped inside a partially
00:55collapsed shopping mall. In this context, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaisi said the number
01:00of casualties and extent of the damage in the area were still being assessed.
