00:00Well, the announcement we're making today relates to our new Homes Accelerator.
00:04So one of the simplest and quickest ways to boost housing supply in the short term
00:09is to target those large-scale developments that already have planning permission
00:13but which, for a variety of reasons, have either stalled or are not building out as fast as they could be
00:17and give them the support they need to progress much more quickly.
00:21And unlocking an accelerating house building on such sites is precisely what that new Homes Accelerator
00:26has been doing over the past 12 months.
00:28We estimate it's unlocked and sped up the delivery of almost 100,000 homes as a result
00:33and we're announcing six new large sites this morning that are receiving targeted support from the Accelerator
00:40in Guildford, in Aylesbury, in Wigan, Somerset and two London boroughs.
00:44And absolutely, we estimate that can unlock another 12,000 homes
00:48making a contribution to that ambitious plan for change target of 1.5 million homes.
00:52Now, it will depend on a scheme-by-scheme basis when people can buy or rent homes
00:57that are coming forward on developments given support through the Accelerator.
01:00But that is already happening across sites across the country.
01:03I was in Cambridgeshire, Northstow, for example, seeing sites that are being accelerated
01:08under the support being given and people are already accessing those homes.
