Shadow minister criticises government's new housing targets

The shadow housing minister has cast doubts over whether the government can meet its amibitious new housing targets. The government announced its target to build 1.5m homes over the next five years and pledged a further £350m for housebuilding. Reacting to the announcement, Paul Holmes said he "very much doubts" the government will be able to deliver the target over the lifetime of the parliament.  Report by Kennedyl. 00:10two and a half thousand affordable homes but only 250 socially rented homes across the whole of the

00:16UK. What we've seen is that the government are not going to be able to focus on delivering the

00:221.5 million homes that they need. Their own ministers said that, other businesses have said

00:27that and that's because of the economic situation that this government has created. So I very much

00:32doubt that they will be able to deliver these homes or the 1.5 million over the lifetime of

00:37the parliament.
