00:00Who was down and caused that red flag and the restart will be coming soon.
00:04That is the first pro motocross start for Pranger, ninth in Canada's Triple Crown Series.
00:10That's their national motocross championship in the 250 Pro-Am division.
00:15So hopefully Cole is going to be okay.
00:19Try to get you an update on him before the race day is complete.
00:23Yeah, it looks like he went down right after the finish line.
00:25So that's what they were working on.
00:27And notice how clean that number 16, Red Bull K-10, is a rider who had the whole shot
00:33compared to those Yamahas who were battling each other.
00:36Yeah, and I was looking at the one place that they didn't quite get to.
00:40It's exactly what that number 16 is.
00:42So if he pulls another whole shot, it would just be coincidence.
00:47No, absolutely, but nothing to do with the fact that the tractor made a turn
00:51and left one little spot.
00:52So Hayden Deegan, and that's another one that you had brought up a couple weeks ago,
00:59James, he's trying to be the first rider to win three titles in one year.
01:02Now the playoffs are part of the picture.
01:04This is him winning the 250 Quest Division Supercross title earlier this year.
01:09And that was a big one for him to finally get that Supercross title.
01:12Should be back for Supercross on a 250 again in 2026.
01:17I mean, you might as well win them all, and we know Jett Lawrence is one of them,
01:22but be the first rider in history to win them all in the same class.
01:26So either way you chalk it up, it's been an impressive year.
01:30And if you can wrap it up today, second leg out of possibly three for that trifecta.
01:36That's right.
01:37So looks like they're ready.
01:39It's going to be a full-length race, a full restart.
01:43And you can see where the riders are.
01:45We mentioned Shimoda did hug the left a bit and cut Deegan off the first time they had to start.
01:51We don't know if he was specifically doing that to stop Deegan
01:53or just to improve his own positioning regardless of who it was.
01:56But maybe we'll find out if he does it again here.
01:59Yeah, and one of the reasons why, because it is a little bit harder over there,
02:02so Joe could have been trying to get there, but we'll find out, like you said.
02:07Yeah, look at the very, very right side.
02:09Those outside gates are generally not good,
02:10but they do have some hard dirt right in front of them.
02:13That's what you saw Jorge Prado use in the 450 start.
02:16So Fly Racing, 30-second card, back up.
02:19Seth Hamaker was the Boxer Energy fast qualifier, had a good start,
02:23was battling for the lead with Fial.
02:25Then the red flag came out.
02:26So a little more to think about on a championship day for Hayden Deegan.
02:34See if we can lock this down.
02:39Here we go.
02:40Once again, the reds are up.
02:44Days down.
02:48Adams used the inside of the advantage that time.
02:51Is Justice going to be served?
02:53Yes, it is.
02:55Tom Bial.
02:56Start was perfectly tilled, exactly the same for everybody, no doubt about it.
02:59Has the whole shot.
03:00Yeah, great start by Tom Bial, but it looks like we got slimed up.
03:04I can't tell if that's the 100 Davies.
03:07Yeah, throw a little whip.
03:09Wow, much better for the young New Zealander who struggled last week
03:12in his pro motocross debut, actually, coming off injury at Unadilla.
03:18And Drew Adams did it.
03:19He has a third-place start.
03:20We finally got the rookie up front early.
03:22We know he has speed.
03:24We've seen it in qualifying.
03:25What can he do with it?
03:26Yeah, well, that's two Kawasaki's that's got a good start.
03:28So they're obviously figuring it out.
03:29The one guy who has figured it out is Tom Bial.
03:32And I was looking at that first corner.
03:33Joe Shimoda actually beat Hayden Deegan in there, but Hayden was on the inside.
03:37So I'll be curious to see how that plays out on the replay.
03:40But good.
03:41Let's see what Cole Davies can do out close to the pace.
03:44We know how fast he was in Supercross.
03:45Just came back from injury.
03:47And I've been excited to watch this rookie out here at the pro motocross.
03:50And Adams, average first lap position, 17th, and now running third.
03:57As for Davies, came off a big arm injury at the Supercross finale back at Salt Lake City.
04:04Didn't know if we'd even see him in pro motocross.
04:07Good that he got back.
04:08Told me yesterday.
04:10Asked him, hey, if there weren't playoffs and seeding, would you have come back?
04:14And he said, uh, probably not.
04:15So I don't know if he's fully 100%, but he's running well in second as we see Deegan in fourth.
04:21Yeah, but sometimes as a rookie, you know, you have average 17th.
04:25You get a good start.
04:26You don't really know what to do with it.
04:28And the reason that is because you're not used to having clean track to be able to go your race pace or qualifying speed.
04:35So it might take him a couple laps or a couple times to be up front to get used to that pace as you start to see these guys are starting to get away from him.
04:42What a difference.
04:44Davies was 26th overall last week at Unadilla.
04:47Now he's gunning for the lead against Vial.
04:50Yeah, well, Davies is, him being his first time here, it's going to help him out.
04:55Or being up here the first time, at least having the lead, it's going to help him out.
04:58Because I think a lot of the good momentum that he had from Supercross, once he's in this position, he'll come back.
05:04There'll be that muscle memory.
05:05So there's no bad memories from this racetrack or outdoors or something like that.
05:11I think this kid has an opportunity to be special in his career if he stays healthy.
05:15Well, certainly in Supercross, he was opening up eyes.
05:17The 17-year-old out of New Zealand had a win streak going, was in contention for the championship at one point.
05:24But most people in America really haven't seen him ride motocross very much.
05:28So the question had been, can he replicate that success from the stadiums to outdoors?
05:33Certainly looks good right now.
05:35Yeah, and there'll be certain tracks.
05:37He was losing the front end right there.
05:38He had to just gas it.
05:39But that's when you talk about skills.
05:41That was beautiful in this kid.
05:43And now he's...
05:43Oh, and the outdown, and Davies to the lead.
05:46Yeah, and all that was caused because of Cole was able to close in.
05:49Tom realized that he was on the inside, probably got on the gas a little bit sooner, lost that front end.
05:53But really impressed by the rookie.
05:56That was all caused by Cole Davies right there.
05:57Two rookies now, because it'll be Adams in second.
06:01So, yes, you're saying Vial had to hustle, rush that corner a little bit?
06:04Well, that's because Cole Davies came down that hill so fast, and he closed him in.
06:08Tom went on the outside, then saw that number 100 on the pop end.
06:11He just got a little nervous.
06:12So, yeah, I would say Cole Davies has caused that one for sure.
06:18Woo!
06:19Check this out.
06:20Now you can see, now Tom's going to go on the outside at this point.
06:23Now he's going to feel that 100 going on the inside.
06:26You can start seeing it.
06:27So, for him, that corner was starting to blow out.
06:30But Cole Davies here in that Yamaha, I believe, pushed that front end.
06:34Oh, no, Tom.
06:34That actually starts losing his rear end first.
06:37Then he loses his front end.
06:39So, Cole Davies, Drew Adams, 1-2.
06:42That could be the future of this class.
06:44We check in with Shimoda.
06:45It was about seventh early, and now he's caught Vial with Deacon just ahead of them in third.
06:51Now Joe's opening lap speeds.
06:53He's took his weakness.
06:54That used to be his weakness.
06:55Now he's turned that into a positive.
06:57So, let's see if he can continue that last weekend.
06:59That first moto was something special.
07:01It'll be a little bit harder at this racetrack, but Joe Shimoda's still moving up.
07:04He's passed a few riders.
07:05He knows how important it is, especially if he has any chance of holding his championship off
07:10or at least getting his overall.
07:11He's got to be in front of Hayden Deacon.
07:15So, officially, though, Vial goes back to the top of the hole shot chart this year with five.
07:20Had five.
07:20Then they restarted, and he got another one anyway.
07:23So, it's going to stand as five.
07:25And see how Deacon plays it in third.
07:27He's in title clinching position right now while they go after the two kids in front of him.
07:32Shimoda, you know what he was going to do.
07:34He wants to go to the front.
07:35Yeah, I think really he's going to be dictated by the number 30.
07:39If he closes in to really put that pressure.
07:42I think if he doesn't, then I think eventually Hayden will go after the two rookies in front.
07:46But right now, he'll just stay there and be patient and see how this race plays out
07:50as Cole Davies already has three seconds over the other rookie in Drew Adams.
07:54And Davies becomes the 12th different rider to lead a lap this year.
07:58And that's what we're saying.
07:59Although the points in both classes have made it look like a procedural season, it's been fun to watch.
08:06There have been the stories and the battles within the battles.
08:08And we have one with those two rookies right now.
08:10Shimoda doing everything he can to get Vial.
08:13Yeah, I think Joe wanted to really stay close to him.
08:16But maybe have the opportunity to pass him here.
08:18As Deegan goes after Adams at the top of the screen.
08:22Drew came up so short on that triple.
08:26That's going to give Deegan second.
08:29Oh, big power move down the inside and Shimoda makes the pass.
08:33Yeah, I don't know if Tom missed that inside, but he went outside and then slid Joe Shimoda.
08:38The way Joe's been around, you don't got to leave that door open.
08:40He's coming in anyway.
08:42See if he can close that gap to Hayden Deegan.
08:43So the Rotterdam of Suzuka Japan continues his march toward the front.
08:47See if Adams can reset after getting passed on that uphill jump.
08:52As Cole Davies leads Hayden Deegan.
08:55What a bounce back.
08:56What a turnaround for Davies.
08:59Really just a start.
09:00And we talked about off air.
09:02I'm like, I really didn't expect much from Cole Davies coming back at Unadillo because of the racetrack.
09:07Now this is going to be a little bit easier for him.
09:09And for him, he drives with Hayden Deegan during the week.
09:12So he's probably pretty comfortable.
09:14As comfortable as you can be with the number one.
09:17I'm sure Hayden's a little bit of the same.
09:19Well, they did have a run in supercross.
09:22That's why I had to throw that.
09:23As comfortable as you can be.
09:25Oh, yeah.
09:25So, yeah, don't get any ideas here.
09:28Don't leave that inside open.
09:29So this could be the thing to watch.
09:30Can Shimoda close on that lead trio and make it a battle?
09:35And it looks like he does now have Adams in his sights.
09:37Yeah, he's already starting to close.
09:39I guess the good thing for Davies is that he's not a threat at the moment.
09:42There's no championship.
09:44So he probably can leave it and he'll hate to act like he's his teammate.
09:48Yeah, Davies had a win streak at that time.
09:50And a lot of buzz about him maybe being the guy.
09:53And Deegan was able to extinguish that.
09:55Crowd let him know they didn't like it.
09:57He got booed big time.
09:59But that's the way of your ride with Danger Boy, lovers, and haters.
10:03But he definitely always has the spotlight on him as he tries to run down his young teammate.
10:09Yeah, Hayden loves putting you in the danger zone.
10:11So you can already see Joe Shimoda closing that gap in on Drew Adams.
10:18Let's go to JT.
10:20Weech, if you're an SMX Next fan, you've got to be loving the way this first moto is shaping.
10:24And if you've got Cole Davies, who is a recent graduate, we saw him absolutely on fire in
10:29Monster Hunter Supercross version of SMX Next.
10:32Drew Adams was last year's graduate going immediately to Monster Hunter Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
10:37And let's not forget about Hayden Deegan, who was really that guy in 2023 before moving up.
10:42So you wonder, can guys like Caden Dudney, Randy Gibson are making their second race of their career,
10:48can they live up to the legacy that these SMX Next graduates are leaving at the front?
10:51Hey, well, the 450 class, we've mentioned how Hunter Lawrence, R.J. Hampshire, Justin Cooper,
10:58Chet Lawrence used to be the front runners of the 250 class.
11:01So we're looking at the natural progression here.
11:04And do not forget that Deegan will be on a 450 next summer.
11:08So you've got to imagine somewhere in the back of the mind of every one of these guys is,
11:13I won't have to race him next year.
11:14It could be mine.
11:15Yeah, but I do feel like, you know, at some point in Supercross,
11:18Cole Davies felt like he could beat Hayden Deegan straight up.
11:22And Joe Shimoda feels like he could beat Hayden Deegan right now.
11:24So Hayden is the champ.
11:26He is the best as he's closing in on his teammate.
11:28But this battle that we're seeing as Joe Shimoda gets around on Drew Adams,
11:33take Hayden Deegan out.
11:34I'm sure we're going to be seeing these three riders next year battling for this championship.
11:38Could be.
11:38Deegan, yes, now all over Davies.
11:44And Davies has become a fan favorite just the way he really came out of nowhere.
11:48Certainly to the American fans, a young kid out of New Zealand.
11:50He was good in that SMX Next program for amateurs that JT was talking about.
11:56But I don't know if that indicated how much better he would be when he turned pro this year
12:01and was winning races on the regular as Deegan closes in, JT.
12:06He is closing in, Weech, but I'm going to tell you what.
12:08He better make this pass pretty quickly because Joe Shimoda can now see them.
12:11You see Joe dropping down.
12:13He has them in their sights.
12:14Cole Davies has lost the pace.
12:16He's slowed just a bit.
12:17And then the longer that Hayden Deegan stays behind him,
12:20the easier that it's going to be for Joe Shimoda to close that gap.
12:23So Hayden Deegan really needs to have some urgency here,
12:25even though he feels like he's probably in control for the moment.
12:28Yeah, I completely agree.
12:30And if I'm Joe Shimoda, I'm doing everything to make sure I catch Hayden Deegan
12:33before he gets around him.
12:35Because I don't think Hayden's teammate is probably going to make it that difficult
12:38on him once he gets a little bit close.
12:40And then at the same time, I don't think he's going to make it that easy on me
12:44once I get there.
12:45So nonetheless, this is the opportunity for Joe Shimoda to try to close that gap
12:49or Hayden Deegan to make this gap and get around his teammate.
12:53That being said, you can start to see Cole Davies starting to pull back out.
12:59Kids fighting back.
13:00So I talked to Davies yesterday.
13:01I said, everyone knows you can ride Supercross well.
13:05Now, how do you compare yourself motocross and Supercross?
13:09And he said, look, that was new last week.
13:11He's coming off injury.
13:12But he's pretty confident he's going to prove he's not just a Supercross guy.
13:16And he's doing it right now.
13:18And Shimoda, this is his opportunity to close the gap.
13:21Yeah, I mean, I can tell you right now, Cole Davies is not just a Supercross rider.
13:25He might not show his best here because there's a lot to deal with.
13:29Hayden Deegan, clearly, if he wraps his championship, he's going to be your champion.
13:33And they've had all season.
13:34Last weekend was an anomaly the way that racetrack was.
13:37So we'll find out a little bit more.
13:39But Cole Davies is doing a heck of a job at keeping that pace on his teammate
13:42and not letting Joe Shimoda close in that much on him.
13:46So he's not just a Supercross-only guy.
13:48Yeah, I think with each lap lead, he's erasing any of that reputation.
13:53Deegan is there.
13:54But as you said, this is not an easy track to make passes on.
13:57Bottom box there is that Hammaker, Bial, Adams in a fight.
14:04That would be 4-5-6.
14:05Yeah, it looks like Levi Kitchens in 7, Thrasher, Conley, Masterpool.
14:12These guys are all bunched up back there.
14:14You know, we see the Cowboys.
14:15He's close to each other.
14:16Hammaker, Kitchen, Adams.
14:18But just Bial in between them.
14:20Here's Deegan trying to set up a run around the outside.
14:23Yeah, we saw that line that Tom Bial went on the outside.
14:26And then Joe Shimoda slid in.
14:28So Davies stayed on the inside.
14:30Hayden didn't have a way around him.
14:31And he should be pretty safe here if he gets through this corner.
14:34He doesn't get Hayden inside as he does.
14:37Whoa!
14:39That was close.
14:40Yeah, that was close.
14:41So if I'm Cole Davies, I'm not doing that the next lap.
14:44I think Deegan is playing a little nice here.
14:47Yeah, I mean, that 43-point lead.
14:50And the way he got booed at that race, he hit him.
14:52I'm trying to stay away from him.
14:54Oh, Deegan's got the tear-offs dangling.
14:56Is that one or all?
14:57Sometimes one tear-off gets left over.
15:02Sometimes guys can accidentally have the whole thing malfunctioned and lose all of them.
15:06I would think there would be more urgency if you didn't have any tear-offs.
15:10Yeah, it definitely would be.
15:12I mean, sometimes you don't even notice it as a rider.
15:14Woo!
15:15That got close again.
15:17Deegan and Davies fighting for it.
15:19Let's see if Cole squares him up.
15:21No, not quite.
15:22No.
15:23Hayden Deegan to the lead.
15:25Can the kid respond?
15:26Ah, the champ's starting to get away, and this is coronation, Dave.
15:30He can make it happen.
15:31Yeah, now let's see how aggressive Hayden is.
15:33He's starting to pick up the pace.
15:34You can see that gap already opening.
15:36And the reason I feel like that is because Joe Shimoda's only within, he's three and a half seconds behind him.
15:41So, number 30's going.
15:44See Hayden take a look back, want to know where he's at.
15:46Oh, number one's going now.
15:49And again, a track he's been so fast on the last couple of years.
15:55Yeah, he's still got tear-offs on.
15:58Is that annoying?
15:59Did you feel that, hear that, see that when it's dangling like that?
16:03Well, if he was out front, nobody around, he would notice it.
16:05But right now, I think he's more focused on, one, keeping that bike straight in these ruts.
16:09But more concerned about that number 30.
16:12He can see him closing up, JT.
16:15He can, and you can see there were still tear-offs there.
16:17At some point, he's going to pull the remainder of those that are flapping around.
16:21But either way, with the lead, there's no way he would stop for goggles or do anything about it.
16:25Because I happen to remember a rider here that pulled all his tear-offs on the line.
16:29He might be in the booth today, but something about a guy that's out front doesn't need tear-offs.
16:34Is that right?
16:35That's a myth like Bigfoot.
16:36I don't know what you're talking about, Haley.
16:39Yeah, down here in the mechanics area as well.
16:41I'm not seeing any sense of urgency from his mechanic, Brent Duffy,
16:44or other team personnel that would suggest that Hayden may come through here looking for a new set of goggles.
16:48I'm not seeing any indicators of that just yet.
16:51No way he's going to do that with the lead.
16:53I think you would have seen him more aggressive, trying to get Davies more quickly
16:57if he knew he didn't have any tear-offs.
16:59Now he's going to be fine as he's made the pass.
17:02Just a little extra championship drama.
17:04We had the red flag restart.
17:06Look, Deegan only needs 15th in the moto.
17:08He doesn't need to win it.
17:08You're just trying to avoid something catastrophic.
17:11Yeah, and I think when we're looking at championship-wise,
17:13he's not worried about Joe with that.
17:15Joe's going to replicate that same pass as Hayden Deegan.
17:19Haven't seen people pass there all day, two in a row.
17:22So Cole's got to figure that part out.
17:24It looks like he's trying to stay out of that berm
17:26and just losing a lot of time.
17:28But back to my point, yeah, the championship-wise,
17:31he's not worried about Joe Shimoda.
17:32What he's worried about is the future in these playoffs
17:35and how good Joe's riding.
17:37And Hayden has that, you know, sense of, like,
17:40he doesn't want anybody to even think that they're even close to him
17:43where I feel like the 30 does feel that way.
17:45So he wants to try to stop that.
17:47He's got 3 1⁄2 seconds.
17:48See if he can hold it off.
17:49Okay, so the stretch run in this Modo will come down to
17:54what you probably would have expected it to be,
17:56Shimoda versus Deegan for the Modo win.
17:59Good job by the rookies.
18:01Adams is still fourth and Davies still third.
18:04The Owl, Hamaker, Kitchen, Thrasher, Masterpool,
18:07and DeFrancisco, that is the top 10.
18:14Man, if Davies could hold on and turn this into a podium
18:18after finishing out of the top 20 last week,
18:21it would be a remarkable turnaround.
18:22He's already shown everyone what he needs to show,
18:25and he can ride this stuff, and he's fast.
18:27But see how fit he can be coming back from injury.
18:31Yeah, I think for him,
18:32if he can somewhat keep the number 30,
18:34that rabbit to chase,
18:35that'll help him out a lot.
18:39And he's got another rookie behind him,
18:41so it's not like he has another guy closing that gap.
18:44He's got six seconds, and they're halfway already.
18:46He's got a pretty good chance.
18:49Kawasaki's battling.
18:51As mentioned, we've seen the information quite a bit.
18:53You have Vial in the front of that group.
18:55That's fifth, and it was Hamaker and Kitchen.
18:56You're watching there, sixth and seventh.
18:59And now the clock is out.
19:00Is Shimoda catching Deegan, or is he losing ground?
19:04Let's check.
19:06No, he's losing ground.
19:073.9 is the gap halfway through the moto.
19:10Reminder that Monster Energy available now.
19:13And Deegan responding to the challenge from the 30.
19:15Yeah, I actually think Joe was closing,
19:17but if you had a drone shot,
19:19you saw him get stood up in those roller sections.
19:21I think he lost quite a bit of time in there.
19:23So he might have closed, made that mistake,
19:26and Hayden's starting to get away.
19:27So it's an important part.
19:28And we talked about this at Ironman.
19:30Joe's going to be here the rest of the race.
19:33Like, he's not going to drop off.
19:34The way he rides, he's going to attack.
19:36So Hayden Deegan, if he wants to win this moto,
19:38he's going to have to continue this pace
19:39because the number 30 is not going anywhere.
19:42What I learned a lot being next to you in this booth is,
19:44I think people think you stay there the whole moto,
19:45that's all fitness.
19:46But you've talked so much about the mentality of the riders
19:48and how they, in Joe's case, you just can't break them.
19:53You can't get them to give up.
19:54No, and you can.
19:55He's got his head down.
19:57He's focused and really impressed.
19:59And I think that's why Joe's only gotten better
20:01because he's not emotional bound like some of the other guys
20:05where they go up and down.
20:06Joe's going to give you everything he's got.
20:08If he's got enough, he's going to win.
20:09If not, he's still going to put in that effort.
20:12And you can tell with that attitude
20:13that he really feels like he can survive two 30-minute motos
20:18and beat Hayden in fitness-wise as well.
20:22Well, I go back to when Deegan was hurt at Redbud
20:25and stabbed in the leg with his handlebars.
20:28We're watching Dylan Schwartz, who's hanging on,
20:30trying to at least, for that final spot guaranteed on the gate.
20:35I talked to Brian Deegan, Hayden's dad,
20:36and he said that the guy we're most worried about is Joe.
20:38That was before Joe was on the big win streak,
20:40but he said he's the guy we know can do the 30-plus-two.
20:43No problem.
20:44So no matter what,
20:46that's going to be who you're probably battling at the end of the day.
20:49If you could dig deep, that was going into Millville.
20:51Shimoda could have, should have won on that one.
20:53Then he did win the next one at Washougal.
20:55Here's Schwartz on the Toyota of Redlands Bar-X Yamaha.
20:59So if you look at the SMX points, which is the playoff seating,
21:04he is 19th.
21:06He's going to fault Hampshire,
21:07who's not racing in this class any longer.
21:08The goal is to hold off Turner.
21:11Shock also not a factor because he's racing 450s.
21:14And Dylan Schwartz doing what he needs to do right now.
21:1716th place, score a couple of points, and get on the gate.
21:20Yeah, no, he's doing a good job looking at Tommy to score.
21:22Lux is back in 23rd, so he's not even scored any points.
21:26So Dylan's doing what he needs to do,
21:29pretty much the same thing he's been doing all year.
21:31I saw a couple of times that he got starts and he was running up front.
21:36And I think it was Washougal where he was fast in qualifying.
21:39So he has the speed, but the starts haven't really helped him.
21:41And that's why he's fighting in this position he is in these playoffs.
21:44But nonetheless, he's doing a good job.
21:46Exactly what he needs to do to solidify that top 20.
21:49Well, to give you an idea how badly these guys wanted,
21:52he hurt his ankle last week.
21:54And there was some question if he was going to race or not.
21:55But he's lining up because he does not want to be in that wildcard race in the playoffs.
22:00He wants a guaranteed spot.
22:02And he's got to race it to make it happen.
22:04It'll be a little easier with Turner back in 23rd right now,
22:07which is not a points-paying position.
22:10They only score points back to 21st.
22:13March banks.
22:14Now, when we mention the playoff seating,
22:20March banks and Vial are in a showdown for 3rd right.
22:24And Vial is certainly going to get the drop on him here.
22:27There was a three-point gap between them,
22:28but in this moto, we're talking 5th and 10th.
22:31So March banks, once again, has work to do through the traffic.
22:35Yeah, it looks like Ryder D behind him.
22:37But, you know, the last few races,
22:40we haven't seen Garrett have that same end-of-the-race fitness
22:43that he had and he showed in the first three quarters of the series.
22:46So you've got to wonder, is there something else going on
22:49or has it been a long season?
22:50But nonetheless, we used to look at the 36.
22:52He just kept continuing coming and coming,
22:54and nobody was getting around him.
22:56The last couple of races, we've seen him get passed at the end of the race,
22:59and that might cost him that possibly 3rd in the seating at the end of the day.
23:05Yeah, Vial has now vaulted ahead of him by 2 points
23:08in that fight for 3rd going into the playoffs.
23:12And the way that works is, number one seed, in this case Deegan,
23:15will start with the equivalent of one race win worth of points.
23:17That's 25.
23:19Shimoda would start the playoffs with 22 points.
23:21Third, Vial or March banks would start with 20.
23:27We'll give you an update on this team.
23:29And as we always say, they're usually flying information.
23:32Monster Pro Circuit, Kallisapi.
23:35We've got Adams 4th, Hamaker, Kitchen 6-7, Masterpool,
23:39who returned to racing last week at Unadilla after a broken pad,
23:42is 9th, and then March banks 10th.
23:44So, yep, most of the teammates near each other on the track as usual.
23:48Yeah, but at the same time, I want to give Drew Adams a shout-out.
23:52You know, he got passed early in the race,
23:54but he's been able to have a couple seconds over his teammate.
23:58And then Hamaker just made the move on Vial.
24:00Or is that a lap rider?
24:01Yeah, that's got to be.
24:02Yeah.
24:02They just went right by.
24:03I think that happened last week.
24:05Keep confusing the same rider with Vial.
24:08Haley.
24:09Seth Hamaker brought fire in his fast qualifier interview,
24:13and what a heater that lap was.
24:14But the interview was equally as such,
24:16he added that his inspiration for rides like this
24:19stemmed back to how this 2025 Supercross Championship ended.
24:23He was looking for some redemption from that.
24:25And mind you, Seth Hamaker, he wants to go for an overall outdoor podium.
24:30He actually doesn't have one, believe it or not.
24:32So, some extra motivation for him today,
24:34stepping for the Supercross season.
24:37Hey, guys, I just wanted to mention, that is Tom Bial.
24:39Oh, it is Tom Bial.
24:40I have no idea why he moved over and let that pass happen,
24:43but it was him, so we'll see if he can recruit.
24:46Yeah, last week, I got him confused.
24:48A rider with a similar bike in gear,
24:49Russell Buceri, the rider out of New England.
24:52But that is Vial, who just handed two positions over.
24:56Yeah, that's why we got confused,
24:58because normally it's usually lap riders that move over like that.
25:00So, maybe Tom has got a problem.
25:03And if I'm Drew Adams, the last guy I wanted to let pass me is my teammate, one.
25:08But Handmaker, I have my goggles and my podium speech ready for the fastest qualifying.
25:14And Seth came up there and knocked me off.
25:16So, Drew Adams is only a couple seconds in front of these two battling for fifth and sixth.
25:21I don't know what it is about this Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki team,
25:26where we have seen these three and four rider packs,
25:29almost like watching the Tour de France or something.
25:32They draft each other.
25:33We got the Peloton.
25:34We're helping each other out.
25:36Kitchen closes on Handmaker.
25:37Yeah, well, unfortunately, they need to change sports,
25:39because it doesn't really work.
25:40Drafting doesn't work that well here.
25:43You just run out of tear-offs and frustration and patience.
25:46I think James Kitchen might be doing that.
25:48He's getting aggressive here to try to move around Handmaker.
25:51Yeah, I mean, Levi's been doing this a lot this year,
25:54especially the races that he's on.
25:55Man, the guy has paced faster or just as fast as the leaders up front,
26:00but continue to come.
26:02But I still like the fight in him.
26:03He knows there's a lot to fight for, including pride.
26:07And you know if you want to be a contender with Hayden Deegan moving out,
26:11you've got to make these passes and send that message for next year
26:13that I'm the best of the rest, for sure.
26:16Well, we've seen so much talent and speed and race wins from Kitchen.
26:20I feel like he's one good moto, one good thing away,
26:24maybe from making it click again.
26:26It could be right here.
26:27Makes the move.
26:28Oh, elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder.
26:31Couldn't do the triple, and that allows Handmaker to get him back.
26:34Yeah, and Levi's been good.
26:36The good thing is he's showing the pace,
26:38and they're also closing in on the rider in front of him,
26:41who's closing in on Cole Davies.
26:43So maybe that little Peloton thing is starting to work.
26:48They're drafting each other because they don't close it up
26:50as he goes back after his teammate again.
26:53And his teammate going out to the other teammate.
26:55There it is.
26:55Now all the same shot.
26:57Adams, Handmaker, and Kitchen.
26:59Yeah, there's a lot of tracks that, you know,
27:02you get caught up with lap riders,
27:03you might have an opportunity.
27:04But this particular track,
27:05you can use your guys in front of you as a pick and roll
27:08as Handmaker gets up his teammate.
27:11Yeah, makes the move.
27:12Now he's stuck in traffic.
27:15Adams tries to get him back.
27:16Kitchen, they nearly collide.
27:18Yeah, Levi's getting really close.
27:20Somebody's going to leave it inside.
27:22Kitchen door is going to swing open on him.
27:24And all the while, Cole Davies six seconds up ahead in third.
27:28Handmaker would love to get there.
27:30Oh, here comes Kitchen again.
27:32Yeah, let's see what Drew looks over.
27:34You can tell he's starting to feel it.
27:37Boom, wheel to wheel, and Kitchen the pass.
27:39Yeah, you saw that one coming.
27:41Levi needed to make this pass.
27:43I actually thought Drew was going to give it to him,
27:44but he held in, and now he's going to have Tom Vial.
27:48Actually, we don't see Tom Vial.
27:50Yeah, something must have happened here with Vial.
27:52As for Adams, you said at the beginning of the photo,
27:54sometimes when you're not used to getting the starts,
27:57it's a lot to deal with when you do it for the first time.
27:59Back at Ironman,
28:00which was maybe the most brutal race this year physically,
28:03he said he couldn't believe how easily he was going by riders
28:06who were tired late in the moto, second moto,
28:08and he felt great.
28:10So that's the difference.
28:11Yeah, no, it really is.
28:12I mean, partly it is mental, but at the same time,
28:15I feel like when you're in the back,
28:16even though you're racing for positions,
28:18when you're up front, it's more of a, you know, sprint speed.
28:21So it's like you're getting on a treadmill running really fast,
28:24and if you're not used to doing that,
28:25you can almost wear yourself out.
28:26So having that open track,
28:29sometimes these guys, especially when they're young,
28:31they really kind of let everything out.
28:33They don't have anything towards the end of the motors,
28:35and I feel like that's what's happening with Drew Adams.
28:38But next time he's there,
28:39he probably won't have this same drop-off,
28:41and he'll just continue to get better.
28:43Yeah, the point is, again, that's not fitness.
28:45He's already proven he can do the 30-plus-2 on a brutal day.
28:49But racing up front, a little different story,
28:51and this guy knows the story better than anyone.
28:53Hayden Deegan now on the verge of winning the title
28:57in the best possible way,
28:58and that would be with a moto win.
29:00Shimoda got there.
29:01It was three and a half seconds,
29:03and Deegan has continued to power away from his rival.
29:07Yeah, oppressive route by Hayden,
29:09especially with the championship,
29:11and making those passes on his teammate when he needed to.
29:13He saw the number 30 going,
29:15and, you know, he could easily let Joe by,
29:17get wrapped this championship up,
29:20but that's not how Hayden operates.
29:22He hasn't even messed with that tear-off that's hanging out.
29:24He ain't got time for that.
29:25That's so funny to talk about Deegan
29:27being more the veteran of the class in his third year
29:29compared to Adams and Davies.
29:31They are 17.
29:33Hayden Deegan is still only 19 years old.
29:35It's just a motocross thing.
29:37I mean, we were saying the same thing about you.
29:38You talk about these guys like they're entering their peak prime.
29:42He'd be a college athlete in a lot of sports at this point.
29:45Yeah, winning helps a lot of that.
29:48You know, you have to grow up really quick,
29:49and I think Hayden has a support team around him
29:52with Brian and his sister,
29:53so sometimes he's not even the most popular Deegan in his own house.
29:57You know?
29:58This battle we're watching here is Masterpool and Thrasher.
30:02Masterpool wants to get in on that Kawasaki fight in front of him.
30:06He has Thrasher first to deal with.
30:10Not sure where Masterpool is going to be next year,
30:12so Pro Circuit is full.
30:14They actually had to add a fifth slot to even bring March Banks back.
30:18They announced that deal a couple of days ago,
30:20so I don't think there's going to be any room at the end for Masterpool and 20.
30:24Oh!
30:25Hammock are down.
30:26Yeah, Bomber, and he's in a tough spot
30:28because that's his pretty steep hill,
30:30and it looks like his chain.
30:33Oh, it's a bike problem.
30:34Maybe not down, just a bike problem.
30:36Yeah, probably his chain's off or something like that
30:39when he's looking down.
30:40Oh, and this is the rider at one goal.
30:43Yeah, we can just see the left side there.
30:45The chain's on.
30:47Whatever it is, it was something else.
30:49He would be able to roll that bike down, but...
30:52Well, Seth had one goal, and that was to get on the overall podium,
30:54and he was doing everything he could to improve his odds,
30:57and now that's gone.
30:59Yeah, bummer for him.
31:01Only a minute and a half left in the race.
31:04Jeez, so close.
31:05It's been a few times.
31:06Like, why'd you wait so late to go down?
31:08He did all the moto.
31:10Did all the work just to finish.
31:11Doesn't show down.
31:12Nope, did all the hard work,
31:13and it's not going to get anything out of it.
31:15So, that might be it.
31:17Can Davies hold on for a bounce-back moto podium
31:21after 26th overall last week?
31:26Yeah, he's looking at the timing score.
31:28Levi's about a second faster.
31:30He's going to try to...
31:31He's going to try to fit...
31:33He's working on that chain sprocket area.
31:35Yeah, I think what he's trying...
31:36Something's stuck in there.
31:37Well, it won't allow the bike, the rear tire to move.
31:40Otherwise, he would just turn it around and roll it down the hill.
31:43So, something's stuck in that thing.
31:45Well, how about the Kiwi, who will turn 18 on Thursday?
31:50It's unbelievable to be able to improve this much in seven days.
31:55Oh, I thought you were talking about what he did.
31:56Just little subtle things.
31:58What he did going down that hill.
32:00Just the style and the skills that it takes to do what he's doing.
32:04It just shows me that this kid's going to be legit.
32:07And third race of the season.
32:10Possible podium.
32:12Yep.
32:13And also, these points were, I think, pretty much cinch it as far as staying at the top 20
32:18and earning that automatic berth in the playoffs.
32:21Here's Cole's strategy on that.
32:22Talked to him yesterday.
32:30Yeah, I'm trying not to think about that.
32:32You know, you go, you know, I go right like I know I can.
32:35You know, I'll be, you know, in the points.
32:38So, yeah.
32:40I'm excited.
32:41Ready to turn it around this weekend.
32:42And the no-nonsense personality of Cole Davies.
32:48I think the fans really fell in love with that also.
32:50When he started getting on the podium earlier in the year at Supercross,
32:53he was asked, are you surprised to be up on the podium?
32:56Is this what you expected?
32:57And he said, I mean, yeah.
33:00And that was it.
33:01And that's what more can you say?
33:02Yeah, he doesn't really waste a lot of air, you know, in his speaking.
33:06He gets straight to the point.
33:07There's no room to, there's no sense, nonsense with him.
33:10He tells you exactly the way it is and, what, he's not even 18 or he's turning 18?
33:14He's turning 18 in a couple days, yeah.
33:16So, very bright future.
33:18Good to see him get through that big arm injury.
33:21Broke his nose also in the crash at the Monster Energy Supercross finale.
33:26And now to put it on the podium in his second ever pro motocross race.
33:31Yeah, but it looks like Levi's closing in pretty good.
33:35And I know Levi would like to give him a birthday present and that's the fourth place this photo.
33:38So, helps him not de-gifting to take that trophy away.
33:45And Kitchin, oh, Kitchin's starting to lurk with a lap and a half to go.
33:48Now, the good news is you look at the playoff points as they run.
33:51Davies now 35 points to the good.
33:54Could be a few less, though, if Kitchin gets him.
33:57I don't think he's counting every individual point at this point.
34:00He just wants the podium.
34:01And Kitchin is going for it.
34:03Yeah, the Kitchin's back open.
34:05But, yeah, I think when it comes to Cole, he felt like if he has two good motos, he'll be in the playoff.
34:10Yeah.
34:11You know, in that.
34:13But I think what it really does is give him a belief that last time we raced in Supercross, I was able to win.
34:18Maybe I can do that here if I get on a roll, JT.
34:21Yeah, and James, for Kitchin here, he's trying to get on a roll, but he also knows that Cole Davies is struggling.
34:26This is Cole Davies' second pro motocross race coming back from an injury.
34:30He knows that Cole Davies is not 100% right now, so he is on the charge.
34:34And there's so much confidence to be gained from knowing that the guy in front of you is a lot more tired than you are.
34:40Yeah, absolutely.
34:40We call that that wounded duck situation.
34:43But Cole, to me, he still looks pretty good.
34:45You know, the way he looked at really, you know, fresh, hopping over the bumps, and the way he went down that hill helps him out a lot.
34:53You know, missing those bumps, hopping over, and you can see that gap that he's able to get over Levi.
34:58You know, I'm not surprised to hear you talking the way you are about Davies.
35:00There's so much buzz about his technique on the motorcycle, even beyond the results, I think.
35:06It's more than that.
35:07It's more than just the number on paper.
35:09Yeah, when I saw him when he was racing the next program, I mean, even little things like that,
35:14that bike skill, that's when I'd say, you got that kind of bike skill, you can be good at any discipline.
35:20And so he's been able to turn that into, you know, hopefully maybe a third place in his moto in his second race back off that gnarly injury.
35:29Man, this kid, he's legit, just like this one is, too.
35:32Well, this is legit as it gets.
35:35Going to win the title by winning the moto.
35:38So, Hayden Deegan, look, great run for Shimoda to stave off elimination the last second half of the season.
35:46But Deegan went 1-1 at the opener.
35:47He's been the guy all year.
35:48There was never really a threat as far as the points were concerned.
35:52And these are just finishing touches on a championship that was his to lose, and he's not going to lose it.
35:58Nah, he's not in, it's a statement moto by him.
36:01The way Joe has been in these last few motos, you know, it's a lot bigger.
36:06But the main goal is to do this.
36:08And, I mean, what can you say about this kid?
36:11When he made his debut at Ironman a few years ago, or you just go back to that.
36:16I remember his feet flying off that and a lot of hype that he doesn't have it.
36:20He had a pretty good rookie season, and that was nice.
36:24What?
36:24What the heck did I just see?
36:26He was like, this is the opposite of the scrub.
36:29You know, when you turn it down, I'm just going to hop over it.
