00:00The announcement was made by WASA during a tour of the Moruga-Tablan area over the weekend.
00:07Tutor head Martin Lumpkin tells TV6 the project is great news, but he hopes the supply continues.
00:15According to him, the dry season in particular is especially challenging.
00:20Tutor welcomes the initiative by the Water and Sewage Authority to have additional water tanks at the school.
00:30We understand that we would have experienced over the years whenever we have low water supply,
00:38that we would experience the water shortage at the school.
00:43And we look forward to reinstallation, and not only installation, but the constant topping up of those camps,
00:51so that the school is not affected and has to be shut down.
00:57Lumpkin tells TV6 he hopes attention is paid to other impacted schools as well.
01:03And so we have schools having to, sometimes on a weekly basis, have to call for water trucks to top up their tanks.
01:13Most of our principals will initiate the calls so that the schools do not have to close.
01:22But in cases where the water trucks and the water supply doesn't arrive on time,
01:28they have no other choice due to health and safety.
01:33And the protocols would have to either dismiss or not have school until the water arrives.
01:41The Tutor president further hopes that additional measures are put in place to ensure a reliable supply at affected teaching institutions.
01:50We also look forward to the Water and Service Authority addressing water shortages at other schools throughout the nation
01:59in terms of not only providing supply by water trucks,
02:06but additional water storage units in areas that are most affected.
