00:00How did it feel the last few games?
00:02It felt really good.
00:03I feel like the operations this preseason were really smooth
00:07and there were a lot of improvements out of myself.
00:09And I feel like out of the whole operation, I feel like it was a lot smoother,
00:13a lot cleaner, and I think everybody's got a lot of confidence in each other
00:16kind of rolling into the regular season.
00:19And I'm really excited with how I performed.
00:21There's a few things of maybe a couple field goals that I didn't think I hit well
00:26but still went in.
00:27So I'll just continue to focus on just ball contact
00:30and making sure everything's clean and ready to go for Cleveland.
00:34After last season with the injury, how did it feel to be able to just get back out here
00:38and have those mechanics be back?
00:40It was funny.
00:41I was talking to the ref in Philly opening kickoff,
00:46and I was like that was the first time I realized that I hadn't played
00:50since whatever week 11 or 12 of the previous year.
00:53And it had been however many months that was since I've played an actual football game,
00:57and so I didn't realize it until then.
01:00But, you know, it was just a lot of fun.
01:01I think being injured and being held out, what it really teaches you is the appreciation of what you have
01:08and not taking anything for granted right now
01:11because you're not going to get any of these times back.
01:13So I'm just really fortunate to be back out here,
01:15and I'm not going to take this year for granted.
01:18I'm going to give it everything I got, and if it works out great, if not, we'll figure it out.
01:23From a mental standpoint, how important was it for you this preseason to just see the ball go through the uprace?
01:28Yeah, I think it's always important.
01:30I feel like it's like the golfer with the yips on putting.
01:33Like two-foot putts can look like 10-foot putts,
01:36and extra points can look like 60-yard field goals mentally.
01:40And so that's what I've really been working on recently is just the mental side of kicking
01:45and just being able to not go out there and overthink and focus on one thing
01:51and kind of go out there free-minded and know that when I step on the field,
01:56the ball's going to go through the uprights.
01:58That's kind of what I'm feeling.
01:59We haven't heard much about the long snapper battle at all,
02:02but what's it been like working with two different guys?
02:03It's been really good, and I tell them all the time I can't feel a difference whenever each of them are in.
02:08They both have done a spectacular job, and obviously Cal's been here for a few years,
02:14and then Will coming in, just learning protection and everything on punt.
02:17He's done really good on that, and coverage, he's been really good.
02:21Both of them have.
02:22I think they both combined two-and-a-half tackles today or maybe two tackles,
02:27so they've been really good, but field goal operations, they've been super clean.
02:31Like I said, everything's in a really good spot right now.
02:34Do you see your confidence level at this point, Evan, going into the season higher than it's been in several years?
02:42Yeah, you know, I feel I've honestly felt pretty good going into last year,
02:46and I feel like I've said it a few times.
02:50Like during pregame and practice last year, like I was making everything felt really good,
02:55and then whenever I got into the game, I was just kind of melting in a way, like mentally.
03:00It's just not much confidence going into it, and so this year, make or miss,
03:05I'm just kind of focused on getting back to rookie year.
03:08Like make or miss, another opportunity is going to come up, and so I'll be ready for that.
