00:00Tommy Boyle, let's get down to Florida here, St. Louis and Tampa Bay.
00:04Here's always some of the stuff that I love.
00:06Sonny Gray is listed at number one on my card today for the past 45 days
00:10with XFIP here to 2.81.
00:12But his ERA is a 6.17.
00:14It's hard to wrap your head around.
00:16The best pitcher on the card has a 6 ERA, but that's what analytics tell you.
00:20Now, I'll also tell you this.
00:21Joe Boyle, he's got a 553 ERA since July 1st and a 520 XFIP number.
00:26He's not stopping anybody tonight.
00:28Now, you look at both of the lineups tonight.
00:29They're not that great.
00:30But again, does it have to be great when it's 85-degree temperatures
00:34and a wind blowing out in Tampa where the ball flies here tonight?
00:37What are you looking at between St. Louis and Tampa?
00:40I'm just looking at runs.
00:41And, you know, we saw from Tampa, obviously, some late heroics from them
00:45to tie things up last night.
00:46They got some runs across the board in the past two days against the Yankees,
00:50who I think we can say have a better pitching staff.
00:52It may not be great overall, but it is a better pitching staff compared to the Cardinals.
00:56And as you said with Sonny Gray, Sonny Gray got blown up last week by the Yankees.
01:01If you look over his last six, seven starts, we're looking at multiple games of six,
01:06eight earned runs allowed.
01:07Sure, there's a couple games there with only one earned run.
01:09He is the best pitcher on today's slate when it's all said and done.
01:12His ERA is through the roof.
01:14His XFIP is significantly better.
01:16I would say at this point it's like we're waiting for him to turn the corner,
01:19but it's also the end of August, and he is approaching some high innings.
01:23So I don't want to say he's running out of gas at this point.
01:26If this was May or June and he had a bad stretch of starts,
01:30I would say let's just trust Sonny Gray.
01:32This game probably falls under.
01:33He probably racks up the strikeouts.
01:34But it's the end of August.
01:35I really don't see that coming through when it's all said and done.
01:38So if we know Joe Boyle is going to give up three or four runs,
01:41if you tell me Sonny Gray gives up only three, I'm not surprised.
01:44But at that point we are pushing towards the over,
01:47and I think we're on pace for it.
01:48So give me some more runs tonight.
