00:00So we're here at the ramp, Jonathan. You've recently written to the police and the council about antisocial behaviour in this area.
00:07What do you want to see exactly?
00:08Well, look, first and foremost, the public have a right to visit our shopping centre without feeling scared.
00:13This is the right to operate without antisocial behaviour on their doorstep.
00:17And yes, the police have stepped up their action, and I know the council are undertaking work to put new powers to help disperse antisocial behaviour.
00:24But we have to go further. What I've said very clearly to the police is I want this to be a hostile environment.
00:29For those individuals, that small minority, who want to make other people's lives difficult and scary, that's what we have to achieve here.
00:36I want everyone to feel safe in our town centre.
00:39So the police say that they're doing daily patrols, and that has had an impact on crime.
00:45But what do you want them to see to do more?
00:48I think it's about stepping up that action, moving people along, making sure people know that if you come here and you are acting in an antisocial way,
00:56there will be a consequence, a consequence that you're not going to like.
00:59That's the only way we're going to solve this problem.
01:02Yes, those individuals need help and support, and we're working on that as well.
01:05But they have to know that we cannot terrorise our town centre and expect to get away with us.
