00:00Hey, shalom brothers and sisters, welcome back. I thank you again for joining me today.
00:04Today I decided to do a little book review and this is an interesting book.
00:09Actually, it was a New York Times bestseller book and this book is called
00:13Misquoting Jesus, The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why.
00:19And the author is Bart D. Ehrman, E-H-R-M-A-N.
00:25This book is, pages are like 266 page book here.
00:32It's a nice sized book. I mean, it's not a big hefty book or anything like that.
00:39And it's got a, if you open this up, you got a picture there and it goes like that.
00:47Kind of cool.
00:47Uh, so, uh, this book, I'll see when it's, uh, if I can find, find when it was, uh, published
00:56or the copyright.
00:59It's kind of hard to see.
01:01The letters are real small on this.
01:04Uh, I don't see it right there.
01:07Uh, yeah, I don't see, uh, I don't, I don't see a copyright when it was out.
01:16Uh, just says Harper Collins books, uh, maybe purchase here.
01:24Uh, anyways, uh, I ought to read the back of it.
01:28Uh, I'm going to read some of the back here and it says world renowned biblical scholar
01:34Bart Ehrman, uh, reveals the truth behind the many mistakes and changes that can be found
01:41throughout the Bible, including the following.
01:44The King James, uh, Bible was based on inferior manuscripts that in many cases do not accurately
01:51represent the meaning of the original text.
01:54Uh, next one, the favorite story of, uh, Yeshua forgiving the woman caught in adultery, which
02:02is John chapter eight verses three to 11 does not belong in the Bible.
02:07And in fact, if you have a King James Bible or, uh, NIV or a vice, usually down there at
02:13the bottom in that little footnote section, it says it's not an original manuscript.
02:17Check that out.
02:19Uh, finally here it says the scribal errors were so common in antiquity that the author of
02:25the book of revelation threatened a damnation to anyone who adds and it takes away the words
02:32from the text, not just revelation, but the whole scriptures in general to, uh, praise
02:38for misquoting Jesus says here urban's, uh, absorbing story, fresh and lively prose and
02:47seasoned, uh, insights into the challenges of recreating the text of the new Testament.
02:53Ensure that readers might never read the gospels of Paul's letters the same way again, publisher
03:01weekly, uh, start review that they, that's what they commented on.
03:05Next one was here by the Dallas, uh, morning news says whichever side you said on regarding
03:12biblical, uh, errantes, this is a rewarding read.
03:18Now concerning, uh, concerning the author here, he chair says here, he chairs the department
03:25of religious studies at the university of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, a leading authority
03:31on the early church and the life of Yeshua.
03:33He has been featured in time magazine and NBC news.
03:37He is the author of 20 books and lives in Durham, Durham, Durham, uh, North Carolina.
03:47So that's a little background on him, of course.
03:50And, uh, like I said, it was just a very interesting book to check up on.
03:54Uh, you know, he gets into details.
03:56He talks about certain people here, uh, uh, talks about, talks about, uh, if you want, sometimes
04:05what we've, some people call the traditional church fathers, uh, things like that.
04:10But, uh, I encourage you to get this book.
04:13You can get it on amazon.com, a bookstore, uh, relatively cheap.
04:16I'm sure of that.
