00:00SB 280, Senator Cervantes, you may close.
00:03Thank you, Madam Chair and committee members for the opportunity to close today.
00:08You know, I want to make a few statements because of what I heard from our two Republican colleagues,
00:16Assemblymember Macedo and Assemblymember Tungpia.
00:19You know, earlier this year, you had an opportunity to vote on an independent, nonpartisan commission
00:29through a bill by your own colleague, Assemblymember Soria.
00:34And yet, you both voted against it twice.
00:39So, that is where the hypocrisy lies.
00:41Madam Chair, we've been attacked on this twice.
00:44Let's let this Senator complete her close, please.
00:46Are we allowed to respond to the disparaging comments?
00:48No, you're not.
00:50We're going to complete your close.
00:53Thank you, Madam Chair.
00:54This is an opportunity for the voters to have a direct say in the future of California and our country.
01:06This is a response to Trump's election rigging scheme, which is an emergency for our democracy.
01:14SB 280 is to hold an election to give voters, California voters, a voice that Texas Republicans are denying Texans.
01:30Let Californians vote and have a say at the ballot box.
01:36I respectfully ask for your aye vote.
01:39And I.
