00:00You better start being prepared because you've got a big series coming up against New York for a four-game set,
00:06and that is crucial if you guys want to try, I mean, for wildcard positioning.
00:11Obviously, I don't think anybody's going to catch the Toronto Blue Jays because Toronto is explosive,
00:16but Bob Nightingale had an article that came out, the Red Sox could be seriously doomed,
00:21especially with what's going on and stuff, too.
00:24I mean, what do you all think?
00:25Do you think they are like the way they were in April, May, and June?
00:30Or is this a little slump?
00:31If you look strictly at wins, they are not like they were in April or in May and a little bit of June.
00:38So, no.
00:38I think it's more of like a slump, a three-game slump that we're seeing because prior to this, they had a nice little run.
00:46But I agree where you have opportunities in the game.
00:51You can't have bases loaded, what, three times and not be able to score.
00:55And then this is where I put it on core.
00:57I don't really put the Chapman only one inning on core because I get why they're doing that.
01:02But we've talked about this before.
01:05It's extra innings.
01:06You got bases juiced.
01:09Why wouldn't you try to lay the squeeze down, right?
01:11You need one run in this situation to be a walk-off.
01:15Why wouldn't you do it?
01:16If you want to make the argument, okay.
01:18They did in the 11th, though.
01:19They did play small ball.
01:20They bunted the guy over.
01:21No, but I'm saying when they have bases loaded and Toro, I think, grounded out.
01:25Was that the bottom of the 9th, I think?
01:26I think that was the 10th.
01:27Okay.
01:28Yeah, he might have grounded out to the double play.
01:30Yes.
01:31But in that situation, that's the opportunity for you to do it.
01:37One out.
01:37I get it.
01:38Here's where we can.
01:39Because you've got to be concerned about the double play ball and take your chances there.
01:44And that's the one area where I would say on core, like, okay, why wouldn't you do it?
01:47I get it.
01:48Maybe on the road, you don't want to do it because Curtis has brought this up.
01:51Then the other team gets the last at bat.
01:54And one run is cool, but it might not be enough.
01:57But in that situation, you could walk off a potential squeeze play.
02:02I think they believe that they're locked for a wild card spot.
02:06And they're not going to do anything that they potentially think could screw with the health of the roster and where they are when they just want to get there.
02:17Right.
02:17But a squeeze play doesn't.
02:20No, just in general.
02:21I get what you're saying.
02:23And I agree that they probably feel like they are in a good position where they're going to be in the postseason.
02:30They're obviously chasing the division.
02:32That's their ultimate goal.
02:33And I think that they feel like the Toronto series at the end of September.
02:39This series, is a split good enough or you got to win this series?
02:44I think a split is good enough, but I'd like to see them obviously win the series.
02:50But I think the split is good enough.
02:52If they split, then they win the season series.
02:54So if the Yankees and Red Sox are tied, the Red Sox will have seven wins against them.
02:57They only play 13 times.
02:59So that, I think, is sufficient.
