00:00good morning good morning how's it going welcome to the show yeah thanks for having me on we're
00:08excited to have you every friday during this nfl season and we are excited how are you uh so far
00:15camp wise uh we were just we you just i'm sure you just heard us with some audio from
00:21will campbell um how are you feeling when it comes to uh your performance so far this camp
00:30in terms of practice or the games or just in terms of getting to know my teammates what are
00:36you asking for oh well i would say let's talk about getting to know your teammates i uh there
00:43are some guys who are suggesting that um this team is special when it comes to the kind of mike
00:51rabel creating an atmosphere down there uh team wise are you feeling that
00:57without a doubt he definitely sets the expectations every day to learn connect and grow as a team and
01:05i'm really proud of how we've come together so far this this uh training camp
01:09robert when you look at you know your past couple of years in vegas you were a tackling machine
01:15you're you're i'm imagining you're the green dot guy and you're the the leader of that defense
01:21expectations for this defense at least for my opinion a pretty high um what what can we expect
01:29this fans from this defense this season yeah yeah we want to be a defense predicated on effort and
01:38finish uh flying around to the ball um i think we have a talented group of people but at the end of
01:44the day it comes down to how we come together as a unit and how we perform um as a unit and i'm
01:52i'm really excited to see that come to fruition here uh in 18 days robert you picked off drake may
01:59twice on monday during practice uh going up against him for practice what do you see out of him
02:04obviously it's his second season here in new england leadership wise uh play wise what have you seen
02:09yeah he's a natural born leader who has a knack for playing quarterback i mean he didn't get drafted
02:18accidentally so i think we all expect uh great great things from drake and he's been proving it
02:26every day in camp robert when you look at the additions that you guys made obviously yourself
02:33um you look at williams up front and uh landry on the edge what what what's the expectations for
02:40your front four that defensive line
02:42i'm expecting big things from them uh across the board not just the front four but our front eight
02:51you know the the second the second uh people that come in you got a rotated line to keep them fresh so
02:59we're gonna have a lot of guys contributing and uh it should be it should be fun to see how that
03:06rotation plays out by the way that question was asked by a man who is very humble but he is
03:14patriot royalty i don't know i don't know if you're familiar at all with the career of jermaine wiggins
03:21robert yeah you are
03:25no you're gonna have to uh inform me on that well listen without him and uh catch that he made in
03:36the snowball when you were probably two uh there would be no dynasty so i want to speak for wiggy
03:43and i just want you to know without him there would have been no dynasty here is that right yeah
03:49yes and just like you i was undrafted
03:51i love that yeah undrafted guys gotta stick together i gotta ask one question though i'm
04:00watching you out there the 14 does it represent something because the 14 at the middle linebacker
04:06position it's kind of new on the eyes is that number represents something to you is that why you
04:11wear 14 yeah it's always been a lucky number my grandfather wore number 14 with notre dame my one
04:19time in charlie so um i was number 14 at the grandfather high school 2020 or 2014 and um it's
04:30really an honor to be able to get to wear that number robert mike rabel's talked about how all these
04:35coaches are getting to know each other all working with each other for the first time
04:39um when it comes to terrell williams on the defensive side what have you seen out of him
04:44how do you feel like he's been faring within the organization and throughout preseason
04:47yeah i think terrell is a natural born leader who has a really great understanding of defensive
04:54football in the nfl he's uh limitless when it comes to scheme but at the end of the day scheme is
05:01just one little picture of what we want our defensive film to look like so we're really focused right
05:07now on fundamentals details and execution and um i think the more we can focus on just getting each
05:13play right we're going to learn to stack these plays on plays on plays throughout the season
05:19well when you look at this team offensively you know drake may's young he's coming into his second
05:27year you got a uh rookie left tackle um receiver was coming off a knee injury so there's got to be
05:33some growing pains offensively do you guys feel like as a defense that you kind of got to carry
05:40the football team because of maybe being more talented on the defensive side of the football
05:46is it something like that your you guys are looking at like we have to kind of carry this football team
05:52until the offense can get things going i mean that's all yet to be seen i think the sky's the limit
05:59for our offense especially with those young players we we got to see what they could do
06:04i'm not saying that they couldn't be the best offense in the league this year i know that's a
06:08far stretch but um every day they come in here and impress me and i'm excited to see them work and
06:16i think as a defense we're going to hold ourselves to such a high standard
06:21matter who we're playing we're going to expect to do good things on the field how much how weird is
06:28it if it's weird at all robert to see your head coach join the linebackers like he's still on the
06:33on the field what do you mean by that mike brable's been on the field you know in a way that we've never
06:40seen bill belichick or even gerard mayo in terms of like getting in guys faces holding a sled or the
06:45tackling dummy or get just getting involved or jumping into yeah he still has a few snaps left
06:51in his career i'm sure i'm sure he could run down on kickoff a few more times probably set the edge
06:56on a stretch play to him a few more times but it's it's fun getting to work with coach variable he's
07:02a hands-on instructor and he loves to be out on the field getting working with players all right well
07:08we appreciate you taking the time and looking forward to talking to you on fridays throughout the
07:14season thank you robert have a good one have a great day guys all right man thank you very much
