00:14it truly sounds like I made it up in a fever dream during Warped Tour when I was 16 years old.

00:20But I swear, every word of this story is real.

00:23Like I said, this is the story of how I met and hooked up with Dirty.

00:27Yes, his name is Dirty, and no, that is not a judgment.

00:32That is the name that he goes by.

00:34Not legally, his name's John, but people know him as Dirty.

00:40So for this story, we are going to call him Dirty.

00:43I personally do call him John.

00:46For those of you who don't know who Dirty is,

00:49Dirty is Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy's best friend.

00:54Like, actual friend, not the parasocial kind.

00:58He's been a hype man for Fall Out Boy for years.

02:25I was a huge fallout boy fan growing up like I had dozens of posters I still know every lyric I

02:38like have to be emotionally restrained whenever someone around me starts talking about fallout

02:44boy because like fallout boy runs through my blood that sounds so cringy but like I ride or

02:50die for this band and I always have so it's needless to say that yes I always knew who dirty was even

02:58before I met him he was like this mythical emo side character that made the whole fallout boy

03:07universe feel bigger and weirder in like the best way I actually remember like the first time I ever

03:14saw dirty he was on stage just like introducing the band and then a few years later I think it was at

03:22the honda civic tour when fallout boy opened up for blink 182 it was like their reunion tour I remember

03:30they played the song I don't care and dirty was on stage sat down and during that like three minute

03:40song they had him drink like a 24 pack of beer which like he obviously proceeded to immediately

03:47throw up into a trash can while they were playing the song

03:50when I had to introduce him to my mom several years later and be like yep that's the guy you saw

04:03with me at that fallout boy concert throwing up on stage because he drank 24 beers yep this is him

04:09um okay please shake hands now god that's such a funny story in itself okay anyways so how me

04:16meeting him officially started flashback to my early 20s I am still living in Florida unfortunately I am

04:25out with my friend Caitlin and we end up at Chili's because obviously two for one happy hour all day

04:34every day we were broke 20 year olds um we were a little dramatic and addicted to free chips and

04:42salsa this is when you could still get free chips and salsa at Chili's I wish they would bring that

04:46back I was not wearing this t-shirt but I was wearing a clandestine industries t-shirt for those of you

04:54who don't know clandestine industries was Pete Wentz's clothing company and you could tell you were

05:01talking to a real fallout boy fan if they owned a piece of clothing from that brand so we sit at the

05:07bar and this bartender walks over to take our order and he looks at me and I swear to god he says

05:16hey I like your shirt did you get that at the store in Chicago on tour or online and I look up at him

05:25and there's like this record scratching noise in my brain my brain's like doing the math but the only

05:31thing that comes out of my mouth is holy shit you're dirty like I just said that out loud at Chili's like

05:38I had spotted a rare Pokemon in the wild and the man sitting next to me at this bar just kind of like

05:43turned his head so slow like did this bitch just call the bartender dirty to his face truly I will

05:51never forget that man's expression he was like equal parts concerned and confused but dirty he just

05:59lit up with this big smile he was so flattered that I recognized him because like he's not Pete Wentz

06:06you know he's just like his hype man so he's not famous enough to be getting stopped in the grocery store

06:12but he is a part of fallout boy history and I'm a big enough fallout boy fan to where I knew that

06:18so we start talking and I tell him I've seen him intro fallout boy before that I've been to

06:26several of their concerts we nerd out about concerts because even though he's Pete's friend

06:32like he's a really big fallout boy fan too he's telling me stories he's telling me how he has

06:40Pete's name like his full name Peter Wentz tattooed on his toes and somewhere between the bottomless

06:48chips and bottomless flirting this man gives me his number cut to we hook up cut to we keep hooking

06:58up cut to it's been 12 years and we're still hooking up so we've been seeing each other off and on for

07:06over a decade now and we've definitely gotten out of the hookup territory at first that's definitely all

07:13it was but now we're like real friends he's one of the first people I facetime when I'm happy when

07:21I'm crying when I'm bored when I just want to look at someone's forehead while they tell me chaotic

07:25stories we text every single day we still see each other every time I'm back in Florida he comes and

07:32visits me here in Tennessee and yes when we see each other we do get reacquainted and dirty is still

07:39someone like really cool like obviously he's still cool with fallout boy so I get to go to fallout boy

07:44concerts for free but he's also really close with the guys in taking back sunday like get this adam the lead

07:51singer of taking back sunday has the word dirty tattooed above his heart but dirty has adam tattooed above

07:59his heart it's just it's so it's so funny it's like if friendship bracelets were designed by a guy in

08:08skinny jeans and skinny jeans and eyeliner thanks to this completely bizarre but beautiful friendship

08:13I've gotten to go to so many concerts for free like we're talking vip green room situations talking like

08:21do you want to drink or to like make out behind this amp rack kind of access there was this one night

08:28that coheed and cambria were headlining a tour that taking back sunday was opening for

08:34and dirty and I definitely snuck into a back room that I don't think we were supposed to be in

08:40and had a whole moment we could definitely hear coheeding cambria faintly through the walls while

08:48we committed light sins also I own Pete Wentz's actual bass guitar because of this like it's in my

08:58house like casually sitting downstairs like a amazing emo artifact just gagged now I'll be real

09:07with you at first yes I was definitely only interested in him because of the band connection

09:13I mean I'm a mega fan of fallout boy I was in my early 20s he was a link to my favorite band

09:19it was like my fangirl brain short-circuited and manifested him but very quickly I realized this

09:28man is one of the kindest funniest most loyal people that I have ever met when I was trying to

09:35leave my abusive ex-husband dirty was there for me in every way possible emotionally practically

09:43sometimes just as someone who was reassuring me telling me that I wasn't crazy and this was all

09:48happening and that I could do it he was like one of the first people to hold my daughter when she

09:52was a newborn baby I mean I held his kids when they were babies I've changed their diapers and now his

09:59kids are old enough to drive and that is so weird to me and my daughter turns eight this summer like

10:06we have been in each other's lives for a minute him and I have definitely talked about it if I wanted

10:12to move back to Florida or if I was still living in Florida we would definitely be anchor partners

10:18like full-on dating no question but I just don't want to go back to Florida and he stays in Florida

10:25for his kids and doesn't want to leave Florida because of his kids and I totally understand that

10:29so we keep this beautiful weird 12 year long distance bond just kind of going the way it is

10:39so yes dirty is a real person I met him at a Chili's he was a bartender and now he's one of the most

10:50important people in my life and if y'all want to hear wild stories about this man trust me I have them

10:56because dirty lives up to the name and then some he literally has I love my life tattooed on his chest

11:04and he really does as always it's been a pleasure yapping with you guys and having this little story
