00:00Oh yeah, I'm so happy. I finally, after I think 8, 9 months, I've got my new toy up and running.
00:08For me, toys, you know, it was either between the McLaren or voila.
00:14Tools always went out with me, I'm not kidding you. You know, I'll keep driving a Dodge Caravan.
00:19And I'm happy as long as I got my toys, which are tools. And my wife has figured that out after 38 years.
00:27But anyway, we want to start proving some of the things that people are telling us.
00:35We're going to put a truck up here that we did a full build on.
00:39Okay, so we've done a lot to this truck. I mean, we've done transmission, transfer case, differential with a locker.
00:45Today off our heads, we did a stroker kit in it, a Molnar stroker kit it. Shout out to Tom Molnar.
00:50Yeah. ARP studs, main studs, head studs, performance rods. It's got just about everything you can do in it.
00:58We did new rockers in it with bushings in the rockers instead of the roller bearings.
01:04Yeah. Which is what we had fell on, what was the Viper or something?
01:06The Viper failed. I mean, it's a pretty common failure. Those needle bearings will fail.
01:09So we just kind of got them all the best parts we could for reliability. And it's a ripper.
01:14I'm really curious to see the speed of air pistons, but Bill was telling us that we have to load at a lower ARP.
01:20For the diesels.
01:21For the diesels.
01:22For the diesels. To get good readings on the diesels, yeah. It's a totally different pull than what we're doing on the gassers.
01:28Some of our difficulty that we're going to have is a before and after, because most of the engines that you're doing come to us blown up.
01:34Blown up.
01:36So it's hard to get...
01:36No dyno numbers on that.
01:37It's hard to get a real good before on that because it's blown up.
01:41So we're going to have to get trucks that, you know, are from next door at truck land or something like that.
01:47Compare them before.
01:48Some test subjects.
01:50Yeah, some test subjects.
01:51And then just compare a similar vehicle and the after results.
01:55Right.
01:55You know, dad's all about getting those numbers and figuring out exactly what we're building.
01:59So this is just another step to be accurate and to confirm what we're actually building.
02:03So we have gotten this dialed in and there will be lots more pulls on this thing with those speed errors.
02:08And we finally got training on it.
02:09We've got it up and running, installed.
02:11We've got a couple of guys here from Superflow.
02:14We're so excited.
02:15We're going to get our dyno up and running.
02:16So we're here for training today.
02:18We're going to train his employees on how to use our chassis dynos.
02:21You first have to collect good data before you can make good decisions.
02:24All right, let's get to it.
02:25You really don't need to calibrate these that much unless you really set up custom configured pages for whatever you need.
02:31You can see the big trucker rear disc brake.
02:34It's absorbed into the eddy so that it actually slows straight forward like this and then cross through.
02:40This is the same as the other one.
02:42That much at all for no reason.
02:44A lot of great motors.
02:45That voltage is now increasing as you're taking over.
02:48Because you've overloaded them, it's going to give us some good value.
02:51It could potentially take 20 seconds to go from 30 to 70.
02:55We've done some pulls on it.
02:57We're ready to kind of play with it a little bit.
03:00So, Brian, say hi.
03:01Hello.
03:02We're going to get this thing hooked up.
03:03We've still got some things to do to make it a little nicer.
03:07Trust me, I'll do it.
03:08I'll get a little better computer bench than this.
03:10All right, well, let's get a truck up on here and get the pulley.
03:14Okay.
03:40Okay.
03:44All right, two, three, two.
04:14Everybody, go easy with the criticism.
04:39You know, we're just, it's like learning how to go, you know, the first time you go to the gym.
04:42It's a little intimidating.
04:44So, you know, I know everybody out there on the internet, they love to see the videos of us blowing stuff up.
04:50We're going to blow something up here?
04:51Not today.
04:52I hope not.
04:52Not today, right?
04:53I'm sure at some point we'll be blowing stuff up.
04:56But today we're just going to kind of test this thing out and give it a few test drives, so to speak.
05:02Yeah.
05:02And let's get on it, dude.
05:04You know, this is pretty exciting for me, actually.
05:06Every time I buy a new piece of equipment, I'm going to just tell you, since I started this, from a wrench to my first welder to my first mill, lathe, I'm still a kid, man.
05:17Let's go see what my toy can do.
05:21You don't trust me?
05:24I trust you more than you know.
05:25You know that?
05:26Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:26It's nice to sit in here with you, dude.
05:28So, there's different types of tests.
05:30Uh-huh.
05:30This is our acceleration ramp, which is pretty much going from one point to the other.
05:34So, let's say, like, 20 to 60.
05:37Okay.
05:37It's just the acceleration ramp.
05:39This is the engine speed calculation.
05:42So, we need to have an input signal to know what our RPM is, or else I'll just go off a mile an hour off the rollers.
05:49Right.
05:50So, we're going to have to do that first, is to get an RPM signal to the dyno.
05:54Okay.
05:55But, yeah, number three is a reverse acceleration.
05:57So, this one's pretty interesting.
05:58You can check how fast this thing will go in reverse?
06:01With this dyno, it has an eddy current loader.
06:03So, with that loader, what it lets us do is, like, let's say we start at 60.
06:07We floor it at 60.
06:08Okay.
06:09And the dyno's pretty much pulling it down to our start value.
06:12Okay.
06:13And, yeah, this is pretty scary, to be honest.
06:16Why is that scary?
06:17It's just, you know, you're flooring it, and the dyno's pulling it down.
06:20Just loading it up, huh?
06:21Yeah, it's putting a lot of load in it.
06:23Okay.
06:24This is good for...
06:24And you just keep your foot in it?
06:26Yep.
06:26Yeah, just keep your foot on it, and it'll pull it down.
06:30So, we're going to do all of those?
06:31We're going to start with the engine speed.
06:33Okay.
06:33What do we got to do for that one?
06:34So, for engine speed, we go to number two.
06:38We start our test.
06:40See, I don't know everything.
06:42You know, how am I supposed to know everything?
06:44Just his gray hair, this beard.
06:45That don't mean nothing.
06:46I get to learn something every day.
06:48I love it.
06:48All right, so put it in second gear.
06:52And then we just got to rev it up to 2,000 RPM.
06:55And we're in two-wheel drive, right?
06:56Yes.
06:57And we're going to go to 2,000?
07:00Yeah, 2,000 RPM in second gear.
07:03And you just got to hold it steady there.
07:04All right, so then we're at 2,000, we get our sample.
07:16And then now, it did its calculation to know RPM on the dyno.
07:21So, you can let out.
07:26We go back to test, and we're ready to start our acceleration ramp.
07:3040 mile an hour.
07:31Okay.
07:31And you kind of hold it there.
07:32And then you have to be full throttle by 45.
07:38So, once I hit 40, then I'm just going to basically floor this thing?
07:42Yep.
07:44There I go.
07:45I'm going to come up to 40.
07:46Make sure to...
07:47Third?
07:48Second.
07:49You want me in second?
07:51Yeah.
07:52Okay, so here I come.
07:53I'm at 40.
07:54Yep.
07:54Now, floor it?
07:55Floor it.
08:02It's got scary.
08:06You're seeing the revs go up, man.
08:08You're redlining it.
08:09And it's not moving.
08:16So, as you can see here, we made 300 horse.
08:20324 torque.
08:22So, I let off of it.
08:26I did.
08:26At six grand, that's when I let off.
08:28Yep.
08:29Yep.
08:29Now, this is corrected for super close.
08:34Yes.
08:34If this was...
08:34Show me the numbers if we were on a...
08:37So, on a Dynojet, we pull up this one right here and fly.
08:42And that's what it looked like on a Dynojet.
08:44Yes, sir.
08:45Oh, you got them over both of them.
08:48Dynojet, wheel horsepower.
08:51334.
08:52303.
08:54Very cool.
08:56Yeah.
08:56Well, that's our first little attempt at it.
08:58I can guarantee you, we're going to be diving onto this thing every day for, what?
09:03Two or three hours a day.
09:04Just about, yeah.
09:05Doing different pulls.
09:06And we just wanted to run a test on this.
09:10And, ooh, baby, I'm excited.
09:13Now that Dave and the rest of the team is done with this, we're excited to show you guys more.
09:18Stay tuned because I'm really excited to see who here at the shop has the most powerful vehicle.
09:24It's not always apples to apples.
09:26So, if you're not subscribed, subscribe, hit that notification bell, but also go to those
09:31comments and let us know what you guys are after to see here from the shop.
09:35We're going to get this dang thing to work and have more fun with it.
