00:16that i wanted to tell you i don't forget this okay so this is technically the the first uh ufo story

00:24that's put in a book in america so this is technically the is the public would see it the

00:28very first ufo story to them even though this happened after roswell roswell didn't become a

00:33thing till way later like it's not your 70s yeah yeah this is 70s exactly late 70s early 80s right

00:39like so this which is interesting because you even though there was the mess up with the newspaper

00:44uh it's not like it became the lore until much later yeah so but but this book and this story

00:50that i'm going to tell y'all did come out early right so this is the first big one that kind of

00:56was told so it's the aztec ufo crash all right it's often referred to as the 1940s 1948 aztec incident

01:06it is a controversial event in ufo lore that allegedly occurred on march 25th 1948 near aztec

01:13new mexico about 180 miles from roswell according to the story a large metallic flying saucer roughly

01:20100 feet in diameter crashed on a mesa in heart canyon the craft uh was said to be intact or

01:28mostly on damage containing 14 to 16 small humanoid alien bodies described as about at about three to

01:37four feet tall with large heads and eyes so i have more to the story but what are y'all thoughts on

01:43this have y'all heard of this story before i have not uh 13 to 14 is a lot of that's a lot it's like

01:49it's like a few basketball 16 yeah yeah yeah that's the cosmic globetrotters in i don't know yeah

01:56but that so and how is this not even more famous than roswell that's the other thing who who did the

02:05discovering that's what i'm curious i wonder how i got buried i'm about to get into that yeah i'm about

02:09yeah i'm about just you know just about that that aspect okay so y'all had greyhound bus of ufos

02:15yeah it's just a fungwa bus in chinatown that was just too packed they're just trying to make it to

02:22atlantic city they're out there it's a reno oh man these aliens keep having to pull over to go to the

02:29bathroom hey with your bus you get one you get chips and a free cat to eat that's an elf reference

02:38yeah i mean like some of this we do have to a lot of these stories are just drunk guys getting

02:43lost and finding trash let's be honest like well but you don't you don't find trash 14 alien bodies

02:50depends on uh where you're partying i guess yeah i don't know where you partied sean but uh

02:56you know that's how we get it down at you ever partied in daily plaza it gets

03:02it gets hairy yeah it's airy yeah but that this seems like the budget version of like the craft

03:09so so does that mean there's only a couple of these aliens on your craft does that mean it's

03:14like first class like it's like it's like the one percenters like flying here

03:17he got the ufo spirit flight but there they actually would have had bags but it would have

03:25cost extra they would have survived yeah well that's you know that's funny is does i don't

03:31even know if it says if they were alive the craft was said to be intact containing 14 to 16 so were

03:39the aliens alive yes we're about to find out here okay let's see the story first gained traction

03:45through journalist frank scully okay so that's who uncovered the frank scully's 1950 book behind

03:52the flying saucers which claimed the incident was reported by oil field workers and hushed up by the

03:58u.s military according to scully the military swiftly secured the site removed the craft and bodies and

04:05shipped them to a secret facility possibly wright patterson air force base or area 51 later accounts like

04:13those in william steinman's 1986 book ufo crash at aztec added details about advanced technology found

04:20in the craft such as electromagnetic propulsion systems and hieroglyphic like writing

04:26the hieroglyphic thing i've heard before a bunch of times yeah uh yes well that's what they said

04:32roswell had those that as well i love wouldn't it be funny if like the there's the couple of the

04:37aliens survived and one of them was like a karen i'm just complaining oh my god you told you call

04:43this a cia plus a planet yeah you call this a black site my question patrick is who is this guy scully

04:51is he sounds like a bookie yeah um is he friends with danny sheehan it's a very nice he landed a plane

04:57in the hudson yeah you said that the book is from 1950 yeah 1950 so that's a very like 1950 he goes

05:04frank scully's on the case you want to know about aliens okay kid i mean if it's 1950s they literally

05:13he would like they could have been like taiwanese and he didn't know but you know what i mean like

05:18yes no idea in 1950s white people didn't even they only knew what black people and white people

05:23looked like and if they fought in a war they knew what other people looked like that's it oh my god

05:28he got an apologist with taiwanese little boys they were just a bunch of they were actually being

05:37they were being flown to kevin spacey's house right right when he was a kid when he was a kid

05:49by the way could you imagine a worse thing than a alien craft full of 12 to 14 landing on puff daddy's

06:17got famous for dressing like an alien that's true um so they had they had two books written about this

06:24this is a well-known case and you remember the x-files agent scully that's where the name came

06:29from oh wow and is it thought of because i never heard is it thought of as a really credible case

06:36that really did get buried because i've been into this for a while i don't think i've maybe i've been

06:40passing by i think i should know about every detail of this case there's so many cases no in fact in the

06:47most recent richard dolan interview on jesse michaels they talk about the aztec case which is why i brought it

06:53up because i i just it's it's significance as the first real kind of story to go viral in the united

06:59states about a ufo case that hadn't happened before you know and so and it kind of in a lot

07:04of ways you could look at it how it like a television show or you know think reservoir dogs

07:09right creating a new subgenre right like creating a new uh something that people are going to copy

07:15right moving forward right that's like the first one that's done of its kind that's what this story

07:19so many people look at it like you know this set the stage for many other stories that may have

07:25come out right later that makes sense these are the first time these things were robbery of ufo

07:30abduction stories yeah yeah oh yeah yeah people think it's credible though i don't know myself i mean

07:36this goes in the you know i don't fucking know bucket but well if you think about it uh it's interesting

07:41interestingly enough it's like roswell was also kept under wraps for a long time yeah so it's around the

07:48same exact time so they they were successful with one for decades longer than this because

07:53there was a book written about this right away and then the other one just ended up kind of like

07:57trumping trumping it because it had more evidence and more eyewitness testimony and it was also 30

08:02years later so people were dead probably but this they probably if they try to get the word out right

08:06away you get debunked right away because there was way more control happening media wise and whatever

08:12else so there is some uh oh no no go ahead no no go ahead i'm sorry that's why i was just saying

08:18it also depends on the people that are like because remember the thing with roswell was at first

08:22military personnel was like yeah i think it's a disc so it's like in this place it was probably so

08:27separated from each other it just depends on like the whim of the guy who runs that base to be

08:33like yeah it's aliens or just like nope right away i get that this is we're taiwanese kids yeah

08:37okay so look um skeptics dismiss the incidents as a hoax painting to the lack of physical evidence

08:56official records or credible firsthand witnesses some link the story to a can scheme by two men

09:05silas newton and leo gebauer who allegedly used tales of crashed ufos to scam investors with fake

09:13oil detection technology tied to alien tech the fbi investigated them for fraud in the early 1950s

09:21further casting doubt on the story however ufo enthusiasts argue the incident aligns with other

09:28alleged cover-ups like roswell and claim the government's secrecy explains the lack of evidence so it's

09:34like there will be blood but imagine he's like using alien tech yeah i'll try to sell that idea

09:41one of the market yeah yeah yeah corner which is so musk that yeah that's such an interesting idea

09:47in that time to be walking around being like you know we got some alien tech you know yeah do people

09:53know what that was i guess i guess they did but it was like so but it's a thing where that's what i mean

09:57like if you're to me that sounds like somebody who saw a legitimate thing and said i gotta corner this

10:03alien tech because there was no version of that being snake oil at that point because nobody what

10:10you had like maybe saucer movies like maybe but not even that i don't think you didn't have them yet

10:14it was like that was like mid 50s or early 50s so 1950 this is happening or what you said 48

10:19it happened at 48 the book comes out you did not have like the plan nine and and and that yet so

10:24even if you saw one of those movies he goes let me make up this thing called alien tech and i'll be

10:28the oil magnet of alien tech that makes no sense but it sounds like is this guy saw something and then

10:34told people hey i i have the first i'm in on this thing i'm i'm i'm the first lion on this so you kind

10:41of think it's both are true meaning he didn't see something but then maybe lied about something he got

10:46from i think he lied about him knowing what the hell it was yeah i think the idea he was given

10:51was from the crash i don't think it was from that's interesting the i don't think it was from the pop

10:55culture like there wasn't it wasn't a movie called aztec you know i'm saying there was it was two books

11:00written how many years apart so i think it was a thing where yeah maybe i'm sure they're gonna be

11:05wrong that world the world war the world was what year 1950 something whatever it was the radio

11:10well that was i don't know that was whatever it is so you could maybe dreamt it up and he did it

11:15it seems way too convenient of a of a of a thought process than to just be like oh i actually did

11:22see something and then but i'm going to be the guy who like harnesses it and makes it available for

11:26everybody and so i can make my my millions and then eventually billions that was no 1897

11:321897 oh really yeah it was it's real it's all the radio show that you're radio the radio

11:38radio show was later but i think that was like then there was 40s their 40s yeah so yeah so it was in

11:43the lexicon it was in the in the public eye but not to the level of like to to make that leap yeah

11:49maybe somebody dreamt it up maybe he did but i don't know if i was a guy writing a book and i

11:53had enough information i don't think and i but if i found out it was a scam i especially back then

11:58they were like a man's only worth his word you know like they're way more like way more like totally

12:03because you could just lie yeah you didn't have social media you could just go to the next town and

12:07have a new family at that point you could just say yeah you just have a new name i mean you just

12:11give whatever name you wanted um yeah that's interesting you know it's interesting patrick

12:15when you say this it makes me think like when there is disclosure there is going to be a bunch

12:19of stories like some of these people that we thought were just like using this to make fast

12:25money they're actually going to have had the experience but they're still american so they

12:29want to make fast money you know like we're going to find out like the most profound uh alien

12:34experience then the guy opened a motel at an airport called the alien you know what i mean

12:38look at roswell look at these people that around it i mean in um the brazilian one they

12:45yeah i think it actually happened but the town was like hey we can help the town out and i can i

12:53can open my ufo motel and i can do a thing here and then roswell does the same thing it's like a it's

12:58like an all alien themed i mean area 51 has that too if you go out to area 51 they got extraterrestrial

13:04highway you go to the little alien you know they got a ufo out there and an alien you can take

13:10pictures with and and you can go up to the gate of area 51 you know it's like yeah so it's one of

13:16those things where it's like does that mean it didn't happen at all or is it just a reaction

13:20of the place you know i'm saying like it's you know after the fact and i think it's after the fact

13:25i think it happens and then people go oh no now we get to like kind of you know make it a thing you

13:30sure yeah keep the lore alive keep the story alive make some money off it yeah why not absolutely

13:35what ended up happening with this aztec case that's just where it is now i mean people that's not like

13:41a bunch of new information or anything has come out it's just kind of like looking back at roswell

13:44right like the information's there like that's what there is uh yeah the hieroglyphic writing and

13:50and all of that is kind of interesting for that to come out 36 years later in 1986 after the book

13:55about roswell that does mention hieroglyphic stuff too so yeah it's like why did that take 36 years

14:02to but then you know what it was there was a big boom in the late 70s mid 70s late 70s all the way

14:09through the 80s of ufo stuff right books and all and just like conferences started happening you know

14:16all these things that have never happened before that kind of grew this industry that had not existed

14:21uh before i definitely think some people uh you know like little fish to shark just tagged along

14:28for the ride that sure you know yeah don't really have yeah just cash in just making up uh bullshit

14:36but the but the original seed like the ground zero of it would like a better phrase but the original

14:41part could have been is completely genuine completely truthful totally totally i really like the roswell case

14:48actually a lot i know it's kind of a cliche case and it's and it's in my opinion the most famous ufo case

14:53yeah in the world i i actually find that case to be quite compelling and incredible i think so as well

15:00i think the more you get away from it it seems more and more believable you know i'm just so much about

15:05it i definitely need to get more into it but i think you know based on what you guys think i think

15:09the saddest ufo grift and it's been happening the last month and now it's probably done

15:13if you've seen it it's these little person actors that have to play lilo and stitch or lilo or stitch

15:21they're just like they have the saddest face of themselves they dress them up as the alien for

15:27these parties and they look fucking miserable wait are lilo and stitch aliens lilo and one of them

15:34i don't know which one of it's lilo or stitch one of them is an alien one's a little girl i think

15:37but uh oh yeah yeah oh i didn't know the thing i didn't know the little monster was an alien

15:41i don't know he's an alien he's he's he's being hunted by an intergalactic and anyway it's giving

15:46our little person spoilers status uh economy ever

15:50because they're in blue i would be sad about that too uh because you know one of them was like i wish

15:57you just put me in the blue man group like i wanted i guess i gotta do this shit one of the things that

16:03made me think that my last thing might be credible is you mentioned how uh richard dolan talked about it

16:08and i'm like he's pretty pretty straightforward richard richard dolan pretty believable guy

16:13you know very believable guy you know and i think does his due diligence and really cares about

16:17cares about things and i think also has a bullshit meter on a lot of this i think he you know knows

16:22the you know there's a lot of information about this world so if he's talking about it there might

16:27be there's probably some meat to the bone i agree yeah yeah well so look that's it for that story

16:33and everything um you know final thoughts guys what are you i don't know i'm excited you mentioned

16:39this next congressional hearing i'm dying yeah i know that by this point it'll be out but when we're

16:45recording nap and uh nap nap and and and corbell have something else coming out i don't know any

16:53details about it but they have something else coming out that should be out by now uh that i'm hoping is

16:59really great um i always like their their their drops they got a new job interesting so you don't

17:05mean the video they just dropped right the the cloud video you mean something else something else

17:09yeah interesting so that's what he was telling me but the um j-rod's back baby

17:23he's got the body for it because the ufo topic takes two steps forward and two steps

17:39that was like the first time i got a boner that music video and not for paul abdul for the hot cat

17:46her dog we come together because aliens attack you know that was like you know she capitalized

17:55on the roger rabbit craze and she's like yeah but you haven't seen someone fuck one yet

17:59that's where i come in that's where i black out we all thought that was going to happen in roger

18:06rabbit though you know we were all secretly hoping for some remember remember the fans the fan art with

18:12just like a rabbit just nude those boobs oh man absolutely new listeners for our podcast before

18:20that just rabbit booby comments i will say i think people i think paula or somebody thought dj cool

18:28cat was going to be more of a thing i thought she i think she thinks she was going to do like a show

18:31or movie with it because even a lot of that was the 90s man you know how much animation had to go

18:38into him being in that like that roger rabbit style there were 10 animators who died

18:42some daughter of one of the guys he's like my father died making dj cool cat he brought disgrace

18:55to my family dj cool cat great dishonor to my family

19:01final thoughts i'm hoping that the car belting is huge and then also uh the congressional hearing i

19:11hope they have really a witness that like i never heard of and that that it really really

19:16brings something to the table i just hope i have it man yeah that's all i want i just want one

19:22experience he's been that's interesting he's just been eating more eggs just have some some kind

19:27of egg experience um all right i have to ask though um because i if i'm if i'm watching this

19:47i'm going to be like oh what what did they just say so is corbell bringing out a witness

20:51what are been some of the more interesting things about starting it and kind of

20:56uh getting it going maybe some of the you know bad things that that you've had along the way

21:01well i'll say the good thing meeting guys like you you know we've we've had incredible

21:04yeah you know like just to give a plug for a show we've had amazing comedians like um you know like

21:09mark mormon and michael ian black we're actually having michael ian on again very soon and dan

21:14soter but we've also had some of these guys in the community like the ross colhart's the george

21:20knaps the sarah gams the michael masters the i mean we've really just lucked out as far as we

21:26we had ralph blumenthal on we we've just got to really pick these people's brains been amazing

21:30yeah and it's and some people that are into it it's like a dream you know dream come true

21:34and then you know the and then the bad the bad part is that um uh nor the comics will talk to us

21:40ever again they don't know um the bad i think that we've they think we're in a manic depressive

21:45episode and uh the bad part is it caused sean's divorce and it's working on mine

21:50and i try to shift it we saw the orb go from me to you

22:03no you know what it is to be honest man like art business in my opinion i'm not speaking for dan here

22:12yeah our business i'm so glad that dan wanted to do this the show with me because

22:16our business has changed so much we've been in our business for so long in comedy and and you know

22:21whatever regular show business and the model of it has changed so much for most things in life after

22:26pandemic whatever it is that this is something that we both have an absolute blast doing anything you're

22:32in for a while and you kind of see the ins and outs you might get a little disenchanted yeah i still

22:36love comedy but this is like it's like having it's like being able to like be immersed in our hobby

22:42it's it's it's fantastic and it's it's new and exciting and even though i've been into it since

22:46that article i i i i'm i'm never not going to be into this stuff the podcast was originally just

22:51going to be like a you know like kind of a a dumb people story you know like you know it's gonna be

22:56a fun podcast but it was you know more like an are you garbage and and uh you know like after a

23:01while i i listened to the jake barber interview and then we had ryan sprague on and then i was just

23:06like sean let's just fucking do this hard right let's just try this you know yeah i like it yeah

23:12are you garbage is a great i listened to that i love that they're hilarious yeah they are so funny

23:19dude in fact i watched uh i just watched an episode a couple nights ago of those guys went on um

23:24um taste buds with um sal vulcano oh yeah yeah yeah the christian other guy's name no no that's um

23:35hey babe oh uh oh hey babe taste buds is the rose the rose in the rose uh yeah he's got he's got

23:42like a restaurant i think in jersey or new york or something uh around the corner from my house

23:46in lower east side he has a sandwich spot yeah sandwich spot yeah dude i don't know that spot but

23:50yeah but i saw an episode with are you garbage and and those guys was so funny they were talking about

23:54uh um what was it arizona iced tea versus snapple and i couldn't believe the detail they went

24:03into the arguments they made that were it was it was a waste of my life but the best waste of my life

24:10like i was just so intrigued it was hilarious

24:12unlike the important ones we're doing in the ufo quantum meal

24:20no those guys that's that's a very jersey philly show that you would listen to that's a bunch of

24:29philly guys and and then valconn i liked i lived in philly for um a little while i lived in lancaster

24:35as well uh lancaster pennsylvania um for for a few years in my 20s stop ragging yeah i love yeah

24:41amish country baby let's go but dude but also as a side thing we can't thank you enough for having

24:48us on the show like oh dude this was so much fun absolute blast man i had so much fun man

25:32seriously and it's so great that you guys bring this mix of levity humor to a topic that you're

25:37clearly also passionate and serious about and finding that you guys have that balance and that's

25:42i just think that's so cool man i wish uh the burbs rose like so much success and growing and thank
