00:00Parti Socialist Malaysia has ruled out joining the loose coalition announced by Bersatu President
00:05Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday, saying it is not comfortable with the way many of the parties
00:09involved play on ethnic issues. PSM chairman Dr. Michael Jayakumar-Devaraj said it had decided
00:15against participating in the coalition after internal discussions. Jayakumar also said that
00:21joining a coalition was not on the cards for PSM at the moment, as the party's general membership
00:26has taken the position that it should not join any coalition unless they reform their ways.
00:32On PSM's previous electoral pact with Muda, Jayakumar said a meeting would be held with the
00:37youth-based party to understand its reasons for aligning itself with Muhyiddin's coalition.
00:42Yesterday, it was reported that 11 opposition parties had agreed to form a loose coalition
00:47aimed at holding the government accountable and pressing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on
00:52reform pledges they claimed had remained unfulfilled. According to Muhyiddin, the coalition comprised
00:58Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan, Pejuang, Muda, the Malaysian Indian People's Party, Putra, Bajasa, Urimay,
01:06the Malaysian Advancement Party, and the National Indian Muslim Alliance Party.
01:11Danish Rajareza, FMT.
