00:00Pahang PAS has vowed to shut down all gambling establishments, including the Ginting Highlands
00:06Casino, should the party succeed in capturing the state in the 16th general election.
00:12However, the state chapter's deputy commissioner, Andan Surarabu, said any decision would need to
00:17comply with the relevant legal framework and is limited to the state government's authority on
00:22the matter. He highlighted that the casino at Ginting Highlands may not fall entirely under
00:27the state's jurisdiction and could require federal intervention, limiting the party's ability to do
00:32anything. Andan Surarabu, who is also Basara Assemblyman, was asked whether Pahang PAS would
00:38follow the example of the Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah state governments in closing four-digit
00:43numbers gaming premises. Andan Surarabu stressed that PAS intends to remove all actions that are
00:49detrimental to society and that it would be handled according to the law. He said the
00:54measures against gambling are not only for the benefit of Muslims, but for all,
00:58as Buddhists and Hindus also oppose gambling.
