00:00about to go back on tour with hyperactive so how are you feeling about getting back on the road
00:09well it's a i've never done four legs on the tour ever i've done three a couple of times and that
00:14felt over the top but there was just the demand there so i've just carried on going obviously
00:19once you put a fourth leg on and some of the for whatever reason you couldn't get the dates because
00:24you're always holding out for friday and saturday sometimes you got your liverpool and newcastle
00:28right at the end and a lot of people like have traveled to the sunderland gig or the i've done
00:33two nights in chester i did three nights in manchester so it's a case of just beating the
00:37drum saying i am eventually coming i'm coming to liverpool prepare for entry you mentioned
00:45liverpool there you are going there in i think november so how are you feeling about the northwest
00:50trip there again it's easy for me because the local knowledge i spend a lot of time in liverpool
00:55because they've got this place called hot water comedy club so i work a lot of ideas out there
01:00it's his own liverpool is its own place its own culture it's like its own little republic you've
01:05got to understand the nuance of that and they're just they obviously they have the longest and
01:12biggest comedy scene in all of the uk for a reason it's a town that understands humor i can do quite
01:17advanced things there and i just love being there and i love playing the manks off against the scousers as
01:23well obviously i'm married to a mank and i think for liverpool it's just a bit it's a bit of a fun
01:27fucking rivalry we do like them really but the manks like ain't a fun rivalry we fucking mean it
01:32we fucking ain't yeah you master so i love exploring all of that i know my shit basically i know my
01:38shit postcode by postcode that goes a long way with northerners so yeah i was just going to ask if
01:43you were going to go on a night out in liverpool whilst there i've been many a night out in liverpool
01:48i've i've been up once i flew to manchester airport got a taxi to cream add it till six in
01:54the morning and then flew home right that's what you call a night out in liverpool regardless of
02:00where people are in the country why should they go get the tickets to see maybe your last hyperactive
02:05shows i just feel like if you want something from comedy where you're going to laugh till you're
02:10hurt but you'll also be changed and get something positive from it there's a lot of debate about
02:16whether stand-up comedy is an art or whether it's just an entertainment like watching telly or
02:20something if we go to see classical music that's art if we go to the gallery that's art if we watch
02:25shakespeare that's art emmerdale no one's calling that art so where is stand-up is somewhere in
02:32between but stand-up can be something that has artistic merit and my my criterion is are you changed
02:41by what you've seen in a meaningful way that's what i seek to do whilst injuring you with laughter
02:47as someone that literally had a heart attack uh and had to come back and watch the show at another
02:52venue at one of the gigs i do i mean it really goes off in the first 20 minutes and then and then we
02:57we change gears and we fucking take the piss out of the stuff that really matters and why aren't we
03:02living a full life why don't couples fuck each other why are young people bellends that are offended by
03:06everything you know why was greg wallace cancelled for making a joke at work was it right go there
03:12and we explore it if this show has the most legs you've ever done does that mean it's your best show
03:18yet i would say so every show comedian does should be better because they're more mature and you know
03:23more things about life so unless you're experiencing some sort of cognitive decline or performance-based
03:28decline there's no excuse for the show's not improving i'm a massive advocate for continued growth
03:35throughout life there is no statistics anywhere that proves human beings stop growing past any age
03:41it's a complete fucking myth do not give in continue to grow and change and you should expect the same
03:46from your comedians as well
