00:00All right, we'll do football in a minute.
00:01Let's get to baseball here.
00:03The Yankees desperately needed some good news,
00:05and they finally deliver on that,
00:07sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend
00:09and put themselves at least back into a position
00:12where you feel like they've got a chance at the postseason.
00:14My gosh, like they've been floundering so bad.
00:16I thought they would just completely fall out of this thing.
00:19Ben Rice had a nice game on Saturday night.
00:21So, look, I can't really endorse the Yankees fully
00:25just because I've seen the whole season
00:27and not just these three games.
00:28But when you have the wins, they're in the bank,
00:31as they say, Donnie, and the Yankees will take it.
00:33Exactly.
00:34And also, the one thing that you want to see
00:35is that lineup does project itself quite nicely
00:37on a day-to-day basis.
00:38Look at those last six games, Craig, on offense.
00:40Six runs, nine runs.
00:41They did a low point against the Twins and that 4-1 loss,
00:43then scored four runs in a victory, 12 runs in a victory,
00:46and eight runs yesterday in another victory.
00:49If that offense is able to carry this team, they'll be solid.
00:52We know they're trying to still figure out that starting staff
00:54and Max Fried, who knows what happened to him
00:56after a sensational start.
00:58Figuring out the back end of that bullpen.
01:00But for me, it always starts and ends, Craig,
01:02with those Yankee bats.
01:03Looks like they're back.
01:04Yeah.
01:05So far, so good.
01:06Red Sox can feel the same way.
01:07They probably should have won all three games this weekend
01:10against the Marlins, but they blew it yesterday,
01:12having to use Chapman on Saturday.
01:14They couldn't use him, I guess, on Sunday,
01:15which I thought was odd, by the way.
01:17Why not just use him two days in a row?
01:18This guy's been unbelievable.
01:19Jacob Marcy hits a huge home run instead of Dane Myers,
01:22and Miami ends up winning one out of those three games.
01:25As Boston is 68 and 57.
01:28They're in striking distance of the Blue Jays,
01:30and they'll have a series coming up.
01:31Well, that will be determined one way or the other.
01:33But I feel like Boston's stronghold is there to make the postseason, Donnie.
01:38They look good start to finish,
01:39and relatively speaking, a healthy team, too,
01:41going into September.
01:43Fun lineup also.
01:44It's one of those teams, too.
01:44It's like, okay, well,
01:45we don't have that championship pedigree per se,
01:47but we don't know any better at this point.
01:48Like, I like that one through nine.
01:50And yesterday, you're right about it.
01:52What a disappointing performance, if we can say the least.
01:55You have the lead going up,
01:56and you always talk about how important a closer.
01:58Ah, it's a closer.
01:59Sometimes a win or lose it.
02:00Yesterday, right away, like that first home run is hit.
02:02What did they do?
02:02Cut to the bullpen right away.
02:04And Joel rolled this trap.
02:05I'm like, why isn't he in the baseball game?
02:06Then Marcy's having a great season so far on the call.
02:09It rocks a two-run home run.
02:10And you go away with the loss.
02:11Like, you're entering the ninth inning.
02:12That's supposed to be an easy victory.
02:13Or at least, hey, we give up one run.
02:15We go to extras.
02:16Think of two home runs in the ninth.
02:17That can't happen, but it's baseball.
02:19It's going to happen on a day-to-day basis.
02:20Your pitchers can't pitch every single day.
02:22But again, how out of gas was Chapman for yesterday?
02:25Could have used him yesterday and picked up that W, Craig.
