00:00It would be a highly risky move for PQR to drop Ampang MP Rohtia Ismail at the next general election

00:07to make way for the party's latest member, Tengku Zakul Aziz, said two political analysts.

00:13Asmi Hassan of Academy News Antara said Rohtia's chances of being fielded again were very slim

00:18given that she had twice been defeated in her bid to lead wanita PQR

00:22and for being seen to be in former PQR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli's camp.

00:27However, he said fielding Tengku Zafro for the Ampang seat in place of Rohtia was very risky

00:33given that he was practically an outsider both in the party and the parliamentary constituency.

00:40Meanwhile, Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Hamid of University Science Malaysia said it would be unwise to take the risk

00:46of supplanting Rohtia for Tengku Zafro if Rohtia has proven to serve the people of Ampang well.

00:51He also described Tengku Zafro as a political unknown despite being in UMNO since 1997

00:57noting that he only gained prominence after being appointed finance minister in Muhyiddin Yassin's cabinet in 2020.

01:05In February, political sources told FMT that Tengku Zafro was expected to contest a Salangor seat

01:11at the next general election with Ampang being his top choice

01:14and Pataling Jaya and Pandan as other possibilities.

01:18After PQR confirmed that Tengku Zafro had joined the party as a member earlier this month,

01:23Rohtia said she was prepared to make way for another PQR candidate in Ampang at G16

01:28though she hoped to serve out her current term.
