Financial planner, coach pays it forward

Aries L. Baloran is a registered financial planner, a Transformare coach and junior financial coach for Empower and Transform. He is also a yaman coach for the Personal Financial Advisers Corporation. He has been invited to guest on TV shows to talk on various topics such as paying debts during the pandemic and ways to handle remittances for OFW families. He is a content creator for Finance on the Go and goes live on his Facebook page where he has garnered a following, talking about financial literacy. Aries started out as an IT instructor before moving to Italy with his wife where he worked many jobs to provide for his family. He noticed that even with his multiple sources of income, they could barely make ends meet. Once he had his second child, he decided it was time for a lifestyle change and worked hard to not only have enough savings but to study on how to invest to be able to grow his money. Now, he is one of Empower and Transform's valued junior financial coaches, handling many clients including the teachers from the IPON Ambassadors Program, a collaboration with the Department of Education (Deped) to help teachers all over the country in settling their debt as well as providing them with financial coaching.

00:00Good morning, good afternoon, bonjour, sabi nga nila.
00:30At meron tayong isang kaibigan dito na hanap natin, alam mo, after the holidays, mahirap ang kilapin ang mga kaibigan natin.
00:39But again, I'm so glad this friend of ours, all the way from Palermo, Sicily, yan ay makikipahagi sa atin.
00:50Ano ang buhay niya? Ano siya nagsimula? Ano naging kanyang mga karanasan at ano yung mga challenges niya?
00:57So, without further ado, let's introduce Mr. Aris Baloran. Aris, good afternoon, Jan. Anong oras nga ba dyan sa inyo?
01:07Buongiorno, buongiorno. Good morning, everyone. It's 9 a.m.
01:12So, 9 a.m. Okay. At dito naman ay 4 o'clock p.m.
01:17So, Aris, kwento mo nga sa amin, taga saan ka ba dito sa atin, sa Manila?
01:25No, hindi pa ako taga Manila. Laking provinsya po ako, sir. From, shout out, Delfin Albano, Isabela.
01:32Oh, Delfin Albano, Isabela. Isabela, correct?
01:36Yeah.
01:37Alright. And ano ba ang sinimulan mo?
02:05Nagsimulan tayo as a simple, paano ko ba i-define?
02:12As a college professor, when I was young pa, dream ko nang maging isang speaker because my mom is a teacher, high school teacher.
02:23So, I really dream na maging katulad niya. So, yun, doon tayo nagsimulan, sir. I was a college professor for six years teaching information technology.
02:34Wow, information technology. Anong year yun, Aris?
02:40Matanda.
02:40I started working at the age of 19. Bata ako na, I think, 2006 or 2007 when I started working.
02:58Okay. And nagtuturo ka sa iyong probinsya?
03:01Yeah, I was recruited by my, kasi doon sa school na pinag-graduatan ko, merong akong naging mentor doon.
03:12Yung professor namin, naging mentor ko. And then, sabi niya sa akin, I want you to work with me kasi naging team siya sa isa sa mga college school doon sa Ilocos.
03:21So, mula sa regional 2, pumunta ako ng region 1 to work for that school. So, I started working at the age of 19. At the age of 19, agad-agad ibinigay sa akin yung position na head of the IT department. Would you imagine that, sir?
03:39So, in that age, nagsimula na tayong mag-take ng masters, which eventually lead me to become, sana, the next discipline chair of the department prior to my departure, pumunta dito sa Italy.
03:58I love my work in the Philippines.
04:00Malang lang ang digital making yan, Aris, ang ginawa mo. Your career or your migration.
04:10Yeah, because the story, sir, is that nung nakilala kong ating misis, hindi ko alam na pupunta siya dito sa Italy.
04:18So, if I'm not mistaken, January of 2008, yeah, 2008 naging kami, hindi ko alam na pupunta siya dito and it took only seven months kayong nagkasama.
04:37By August of 2008, pumunta na dito sa Italy. So, sabi ko sa kanya, okay, iintayin kita. And then, I waited for her for four years. Four years ko sa ginantay.
04:51So, nung bumalik siya at ikinasal kami, two months lang kami nagkasama. Then, bumalik na naman dito sa Italy. So, sabi ko sa kanya, may challenge to her because that time, siyempre, masakit sa akin na magkalay ko and I want to have family, to create a family.
05:11Ang challenge ko sa kanya, if you are, if you would be able na makuha mo ko sa Italy within one year, I will give up everything.
05:22Wow, nagkaroon ka ng time, nagkaroon ka ng deadline para sa kanya, one year.
05:27Yeah. So, we prayed for it. So, sabi ko sa kanya, kung hindi mangyari yan, hey, you need to return sa Pilipinas at dito tayo magsama because I have a good job, stable job.
05:40So, pwede, mapapakain ka na, including our future children.
05:45But, siguro, mas malakas yung prayer niya. Within six months, lumabas na yung aking visa.
05:52So, wala na.
05:53So, finally, you gave up that almost becoming part of the chair as a professor, di ba?
06:01So, anyway, okay, why, kamusta naman ang buhay sa Italy in your first few months, Aris? Anong naging experience mo?
06:13Hindi madali. Kahit sinasabi na sa akin ng aking asawa na, okay, you need to give up talaga everything kasi dito, yung karir mo dyan sa Pilipinas, hindi mo siya maya-apply.
06:24So, mentally, I was ready. But, physically, when I arrived, kasi two weeks pa lang, kadating ko din ng September of 2012, not mistaken, yeah, 2012, two weeks pa lang sa may trabaho na ako.
06:41I worked as a household sa isang prominent na tao dito. And, ito yung nangyari eh. I have this experience sa talaga nga, until this time, when I remember it, it really, alam, may kurot pa rin eh.
06:58And, that motivates me. During the time, my first day, my wife's so excited, she gave me a packed lunch of adobo.
07:07Yun ang aking lunch, adobo. That's why I call this one as my adobo story. So, trabaho, trabaho, trabaho, bago yung bahay, and then, when I'm about to eat my lunch, I have no place to eat.
07:22Kasi nga, alam nga na, tatayan ako dun sa mismo hapagkainan ng ating amo, hindi naman pwede.
07:28So, I look for a place, and the only place that I have is the own restroom, yung bathroom na nilinisan ko.
07:37So, while I am eating, syempre, mabilis dapat, kasi baka dumating yung abo, baka makita ko, kasi tinatakas ko lang, kasi butom na ako nun, sir.
07:47And, then, while I was eating, I was crying. Hindi ko na napipigilan na I was crying.
07:53I was really crying, and that's my story that I always share to everyone.
07:57And, while I am eating, I'm telling to myself, someday, we are going to be somebody.
08:03Someday, hindi ko na mararanasan ang mabagi ba. Someday, I will not be crying like this because of hardship.
08:11Someday, I will be somebody. Yan yung sinasabi ko palagi.
08:14That was 10 years ago, exactly.
08:17I left going to 12 na.
08:20Pero, Aris, pero, Aris, ang nagyari sa'yo. Parang, it's a very humbling. Imagine a professor, and then all of a sudden, kumakain sa bathroom.
08:32Yeah. Would you imagine?
08:36House help, ha? House help. I'm sure, as a professor, hindi ka na maglilinis ang classroom mo, eh, di ba?
08:42Of course.
08:43So, it was really a humbling effect, no? Na within two weeks, nagkatrabaho ka. That's good.
08:49But, nagkaroon ka talaga ng yung luha mo lumabas talaga dahil sa humbling effect, di ba?
08:55Ganun ba yun?
08:56Yeah. Yeah, it really humbled me. Na, I am now in a different place. So, sabi ko sa sarili ko, I need now to, to find out.
09:06Hindi na yung dati. Okay? So, I need now to adapt kung ano yung klase ng trabaho dito.
09:13And, honestly speaking, hindi ako tumagal kasi hindi ako marunong magtrabaho.
09:18And, heartbreaks after heartbreaks because I was fired maybe more than five times.
09:23He was the only, yung isa lang na sinasabing comment sa akin is,
09:28hindi siya marunong magtrabaho.
09:32Ano-ano mga trabaho, mga dinanas mo?
09:37Alam mo, sir, I tried isang trabaho dito na I need to take care, eleven dogs.
09:44You have to take care, you have to walk the eleven dogs.
09:48Eleven dogs.
09:49Tapos ang lalaking pa nila.
09:51Anong klase yung mga aso naman yun?
09:53Yung tatlo is yung Dalmatian, yung isa is yung German Shepherd,
10:05and the rest are yung mga Shih Tzu.
10:08Ganun, sir, yung aking naging trabaho.
10:10Eleven dogs.
10:12Eleven dogs.
10:13Anong ginagawa yun?
10:13Anong pinapaliguan mo, binibigyan mo ng vitamin, tapos we walk mo sila.
10:19Yeah, meron silang schedule, sir.
10:23Meron silang schedule to walk.
10:25So, the challenging part is, yung bahay niyung aking amo, during the time, is at the top of the mountain.
10:33So, I need to take the bus.
10:36Yung bus hindi aakyat ng mountain.
10:39Yung aking amo, hindi naman niya kukukunin sa baba.
10:41So, I need to walk to that mountain, maybe around 2 kilometers pataas.
10:48Wow.
10:49And then, I need to go down doon every matawas yung trabaho.
10:54And then, every day ganun yan.
10:56But, ako, sir, I was motivated.
10:59I want to work.
11:00So, sige lang, sige lang.
11:01But after 2 weeks, I was fired again.
11:03Because I do not know how to work.
11:05So, yung nakakailang firing ka na, nakailang firing squad ka na, Aris.
11:12Siguro, within 6 months, nakalima.
11:156 months.
11:16Okay.
11:16But, it did not dishearten you, no?
11:19I mean,
11:20No, just try and try until you succeed, sabi nga nila.
11:25Peters never win.
11:26And then, until that time, that account, the account, yung Ponte, account dito, account, the account of Tasca, Ponte Tasca, needed a driver.
11:41Badly for her daughter.
11:44So, meron naman akong license dito.
11:45I could drive.
11:47At nagustuhan niya because I was speaking English.
11:50Para matuto yung kanyang daughter.
11:52So, yun, dun nagsimula ang journey natin.
11:57I started as a driver ng isa sa mga royals dito.
12:04The Count of Villa Tasca.
12:07So, ako yung driver niya.
12:08Ako yung taga-atid, taga-sundo.
12:11Pag mag-party, ako yung mag-ahatid sa kanya.
12:15So, natuto ako sa mga different streets dito sa Palerno City.
12:19That lead me, during 2020, kasi walang work masyado dito.
12:24But I still have work, pero gusto mag-part-time.
12:26That lead me to work as a delivery boy.
12:31So, alam mo yung mga streets.
12:32So, I drive around.
12:35Okay.
12:36So, finally, you were able to settle.
12:39Hindi ka naman na-fire after two weeks.
12:42No.
12:42After two weeks, I was given out a contract.
12:45Ah, okay.
12:48So, nagkaroon ka ng kontrata.
12:50But all these things, ano-ano pong apasok sa isip mo during all the challenges?
12:55You know, the firing here and there, and all of a sudden, nagkaroon ka ng discovery with discount to drive.
13:01So, ano naging status mo ngayon sa sarili mo, Aris?
13:08Yung heartbreaks na yun, sabi ko, I was crying with my wife, sabi ko sa kanin, siguro, hindi talaga ako maroon.
13:16But my wife motivates me.
13:18Sabi, hindi, kaya ko yan.
13:19Sige, just keep on trying.
13:21And then, when that lucky day came, sabi ko sa sarili ko, kaya ko pala.
13:27Pero, hindi lang dapat ako ganito.
13:31Hindi lang dapat ito lang.
13:33Kasi, stagnant eh.
13:35Wala kang...
13:36Walang learning eh.
13:39If you are a driver, you're a driver.
13:41Wala na.
13:42That's why, what I did is, first, I need to learn the language.
13:45Would you imagine, sir, no?
13:46They are talking to me in English.
13:49So, sabi ko sa sarili ko, how will I learn yung language ng mga Italiano kung hindi ko pag-aaralan?
13:57So, ang ginagawa ko is really to talk in Italia kahit balu-balutot.
14:02Sige lang.
14:03And then, sabi ko rin sa sarili ko, I need to learn new things.
14:07So, dapat mag-aaral ko, mag-aaral ko.
14:09Pero, ang nangyari kasi sa akin during that time, the biggest mistake is that,
14:14napasama ako sa mga, sabi na lang natin, not bad influence,
14:19but the mindset of people na mahilig sa sapatos during that time.
14:23And then, siyempre, malaki ang kita, malaki ang tip.
14:29Naging habit na natin ang bumili ng napakaralan sapatos.
14:33Until the time na dumating dahil sa 220 pairs of Jordan and Bowie.
14:39Anong sapatos yan?
14:41Are you talking of leather or are you talking sneakerhead?
14:44No, I'm a sneakerhead.
14:46Ang sabi ko nga nun sa reply, the swaggy aim.
14:50I was collecting Jordan 1 to 14, yung mga isunod ni Michael Jordan,
14:56in his championship journey.
14:58And then, from Kobe 1 to Kobe 12, yung mga isunod naman ni Kobe Bryant.
15:04So, I was really, I sneakerhead, talagang bilinang bilin.
15:08Until that time na sabi ko sa sarili ko, hindi na pwede.
15:11Kasi nga, wala nang naisip.
15:13Hindi na ko nakakapag-ipon.
15:15As in, napupunta na lang lahat sa sapatos.
15:19Dumatay ako sa time na every time makahawa ko ng pera.
15:22Nanginig yung pangayag mga nun.
15:24Because I do really want to buy.
15:26Pag nag-check ako sa internet, sapatos ka agad ang kinitignan ko.
15:31So, yun.
15:32Yun ang naging buhay ko when I started working.
15:34And alam nyo yun, yung talagang, it's the life of an OF overseas Filipino talaga na
15:41kapag hindi malaki yung psychological wallet mo.
15:44And then you want to try these things.
15:48Makikita mo na magiging habit na ito.
15:52So, sabi ko, kaya ko pa ito.
15:54Until that time na nandun ka na, eh, 10 years, 20 years, wala ka pang nasisimulan.
16:24So, I prayed talaga.
16:26Sabi ko kay Lord, Lord, please help me kasi hindi ko alam kung ano nang gagawin ko.
16:31So, God answered my prayer in a very strange way.
16:37God gave me our second son.
17:00I was not mentally, I was not emotionally, physically, and the most important, financially ready.
17:12So, sabi ko sa sarili ko, I need to change.
17:15That was exactly five years ago, 2019.
17:21So, sabi ko sa sarili ko, I need to change.
17:23So, anong ginawa natin?
17:24So, kasi feeling ko nun, alam ko lahat, mayabang ako, I was, anong tawag nito, mayabang, ano pa ba, basta.
17:36And then, feeling ko, alam ko lahat, pero yung result, wala namang nakikita.
17:42For example, may bank account, feeling ko, alam ko lahat, pero bank account, it does not you anything.
17:47Sabi ko, ang nandito sa butak ko ngayon, walang siligit.
17:51So, tinanggal natin lahat, we started removing everything, start to zero, and put another knowledge, wisdom, sa ating head.
18:05And then, we started changing.
18:07So, I started reading books, I started following people, and then one of the show that I really loved during the time,
18:15is to watch yung, on the money, wherein, and dun yung aking twin na si Sir Edric Mendoza, no, just kidding.
18:23And then, si Ma'am Salve, may nanay chocolate, Salve de Quinto, and the rest.
18:31Okay, so, ang ginagawa ko ng Sir, while working, dinadownload ko kasi yung mga videos niya.
18:37Yung mga videos niya.
18:38And, kinoconvert ko into MP3.
18:41At yun ang palagaw yung pinapahingam every time nag-war ko.
18:45So, parang, ulot, kahit paulit-ulit yun.
18:49Sige lang, sige lang, sige lang.
18:50Until such time that yung baby steps na ginawa ko become now my habit.
18:57So, now is my habit.
18:59It was life-changing, Aris.
19:01Kasi, you know, it takes time.
19:03Kasi, you know, manunood ka.
19:05Misang baka nabobor ka, nadidistract ka, you know, yung mga ganun.
19:08Tsaka, nag-aalaga ka ng pangalawang anak, di ba?
19:11But you have that self-discipline eh.
19:13Kasi, what would have happened if you did not turn around?
19:19I could imagine.
19:21Siguro, we're stagnant.
19:23Andun pa rin kami.
19:24During that time, my eldest son asked me for McDonald's.
19:30I could not even provide.
19:33Because I was thinking, ha, pambili ko yan ng sapatos.
19:37Or pambili ko ng bike.
19:38Ha, hindi ko pa pala na kontro.
19:39I was also a cycling addict.
19:44I have five bikes before.
19:48Talagang, palagay ko, ito yung mga gusto mo ng araw na nasa Manila.
19:52Yung mga gusto mo karoon ng sapatos, gusto mo karoon ng bike.
19:57And all of a sudden, nandiyan ka sa Italy, na-fulfill mo yung, kumbaga, yung wants mo.
20:03Naging needs, di ba?
20:05Naging insecure ako sa rin.
20:06Because siguro, I want to show off.
20:10To show to everyone.
20:12Kaya ko rin yan.
20:13I want to flex.
20:14Pero, totoo yung sabi nila na, doon sa book ni Morgan Houser, The Psychology of Money.
20:22Money is the greatest show on earth.
20:24Because the fastest way of losing money is showing other people that you have money.
20:31What do I mean?
20:32Siyempre, pag may pera ka, anong gagawin mo?
20:34Para makita ng iba, di bibili ka.
20:36Para yung pakita mo na may pera ka.
20:38So, it's just the greatest show on earth.
20:40So, naging financially literate ka, eventually, I understand, Aris.
21:03I do remember when I was high school, sir, sabi ko,
21:06someday I'm going to be a public speaker.
21:10Ewan ko ba, the director in my school before was really honing me to become a speaker.
21:17Sabi niyo sa akin, nakikita ko sa'yo, you are good in debating, you are good in speaking.
21:23Pero hindi ko ma-imagine how.
21:26Until that time, sabi ko na-meet ko si Ma'am Salve,
21:30which is the catalyst of change, especially to my family.
21:34Ang nangyari niyan is, sabi niya sa akin, why don't you be, try to be a storyteller?
21:42Yeah.
21:42Okay.
21:43So she gave me a book to read, and I read it.
21:47And I was so motivated.
21:49Okay, yeah, why don't I tell?
21:51I convey my stories to others.
21:53So yung magustong makinig, at gustong matutok from me, why not, di ba?
21:59So that's why I learned how to tell my story.
22:03And as of now, sir, I'm so happy that I am helping people, and dyan, sila Dayang, shout out to you,
22:11na nakikita ko yung pagbabago sa kanilang buhay.
22:15My relatives are telling me, siguro nakita nila yung pagbabago ng aning buhay.
22:19Sabi nila, Aris, feeling mo siguro, hindi ka namin pinapakinggan.
22:23Hindi lang kami maingingay, pero pinapanood ka namin.
22:26Pinapanood ka namin.
22:27Yan na yung magiging message nila sa akin, that I never heard before when I was starting.
22:36Siguro, they are telling me, gastador yan dati.
22:39Pero siguro, nakita nila yung changes.
22:42And then I walk the talk, siguro, for them.
22:46So, oh, bakit hindi natin ito?
22:49And now, if they want to invest, they ask me, ano, maganda ba ito?
22:54And people now are asking, bro, mga brothers and sisters namin in the church,
23:00bro, what do you think about this investment?
23:03Ganito.
23:03And I would now be able to give my, siyempre, my registered financial planner,
23:08my professional advice to them.
23:11Okay yan.
23:12Bwede ito muna, pag-aralan muna natin, invest muna sa knowledge.
23:15So, dahan-dahan.
23:17So, yun sir, I was being able to talk to them.
23:19And I'm so happy, I'm so glad, because one of my prayers also is,
23:23Lord, use me to be a blessing to others.
23:27Use me to be a blessing to others.
23:29Prosper me so that I could prosper and bless others.
23:33So, I understand the RIFP, registered financial planner.
23:39Yeah, actually, ang pinto niyan, when Ma'am Salve motivate me, okay,
23:45aside from being a storyteller, you need also to be a financial planner,
23:49a registered financial planner.
23:51So, kailangan mo mag-aral.
23:53So, nag-aral ako, alam mo, sir, no,
23:54ako hindi ko kinakaya.
23:56I work as a part-time waiter sa restaurant dito.
24:00So, ang trabaho ko is from 6 p.m. to 12 p.m.
24:03Ang klase dyan sa, because we have six-hour difference,
24:06ang klase dyan sa Pilipinas, sa amin, is from 2 a.m. dito sa Italy time to 6 a.m.
24:15So, ilang Saturdays yun?
24:17Eight Saturdays or nine Saturdays yun yung klase na yun.
24:21So, pagdating ko ng from work,
24:25matutulog ako ng mga isang oras,
24:27id-lip lang, and then gi-isang ako mag-aaral.
24:29So, nung natapos ko yung eight weeks,
24:33sabi ko, kailangan mag-revalida ako kaagad
24:38para hindi mawalay yung knowledge.
24:40And with God's blessing,
24:43I passed the revalida,
24:46and now I am now helping people in their financial.
24:50So, para bang marami kang stepping stone, no?
24:54In other words, yung life-changing moments mo
24:57na binigyan mo yung asama mo ng one year,
24:59naging six months, you know,
25:01do you see, para bang there are a lot of things
25:03you're being guided, no?
25:05O, syempre, pinatikim ka muna ng iyong sneakers
25:08na 200 pairs.
25:11Teka nga pala, ano nangyari na doon sa 200?
25:14I'm sure, mga nanonood sa atin,
25:16magtatanong.
25:16Nasaan na yung 200 pairs?
25:20Right.
25:20So, what I did is when I was already
25:23financially literate,
25:26ginawa ko, I sold them.
25:30Binenta ko yung almost 90% na,
25:33may mga natitira pa,
25:34pero yung mga yun,
25:36parang investment na kasi,
25:37like the shoes of Kobe Bryant,
25:38when he died, rest in peace.
25:41Yung mga sapatos yun,
25:43nag-times 10, yung value.
25:44So, hindi ko na sila binenta.
25:47Hino-hold, own ko na lang dito.
25:48Because, for example,
25:49meron akong napili ng mga around
25:50150 euros,
25:52ang cost na niya ngayon
25:53sa around 8,000 euros
25:54na pag-ibinenta mo.
25:55Wow.
25:56So, naging investment.
25:57So, naging investment.
25:58General po yung hobby mo
26:00into investment,
26:02iba?
26:02Yeah.
26:03Oo.
26:04So, yung capital,
26:05nag-start tayo sa stock market,
26:08most of the capital
26:09comes from the shoes na itself.
26:12And then, as I progress,
26:14as I learn
26:15and guided by these people,
26:18sila,
26:18actually,
26:20OQP,
26:21ito pala yung sinasabi sa mga tao,
26:22OQP,
26:23only quality people.
26:26Saksakan natin ng knowledge dito
26:28from only quality people.
26:30So, mga nagigining ngayon,
26:31yan, sila sir,
26:32sila sir Boots,
26:33yan,
26:34I would follow them,
26:36Coach Efren,
26:37the Wealth Archie guys,
26:41sila,
26:41Boss Rex Mendoza,
26:43Coach Randall,
26:44Marvin Guillermo.
26:45Actually,
26:46I created what I called
26:48my financial literacy heroes
26:51that eventually lead them
26:53to my life heroes,
26:54na hindi na financial literacy heroes.
26:56Taging life heroes ko sila.
26:57So, parang,
26:58Superman is si Rex Mendoza,
27:00Batman si Randall Johnson,
27:03si Wonder Woman,
27:04si Salman,
27:05Salve Duclito,
27:06and so I named them.
27:09So, see,
27:09Sister Boots is the cyborg,
27:11no?
27:12So, I named you all
27:14because you are my heroes,
27:16okay?
27:16I named you all,
27:17and then every time
27:18I need to know something,
27:19di ba sir,
27:20I ask you,
27:21I message you
27:21most of the time.
27:23If I know,
27:23if I don't know anything,
27:25I ask.
27:26I ask.
27:27And I make sure
27:28that I am guided
27:30by these people.
27:32I consider them now
27:33as my mastermind.
27:34But, Aris,
27:35are you planning
27:36to write a book
27:37about your life
27:38so that you can share
27:39with more and more people?
27:41Siguro,
27:42hindi lang Italy,
27:43but other OFWs?
27:45Honestly speaking,
27:46you are the fifth person
27:48to ask me this one.
27:49Why don't you write a book
27:51about this life?
27:52Sabi ko,
27:53okay,
27:54I'll take it
27:54one step at a time.
27:56Siguro,
27:56I will share muna
27:58my story
27:59and let's see
28:00how people will react.
28:02Nasa initial stage pa lang
28:03ako sir,
28:04I am not yet finished.
28:06I am not yet in the middle.
28:08I am just starting
28:09because every day
28:10there are so many lessons.
28:13Ang ginagawa ko kasi sir,
28:14I look up to all of you.
28:15And then sabi ko,
28:16if I want to be like them,
28:19I need to follow
28:20what are they doing.
28:21Success is just
28:22kanyan,
28:24may pattern,
28:25may path.
28:26All you need to do
28:27is to follow the path.
28:28So if you know a person
28:30like Sir Boots,
28:31just follow his path.
28:33Don't follow other path.
28:35Kung ginawa mo yun,
28:37may iba ang landas mo.
28:38Just follow
28:39yung footsteps,
28:40yung way
28:41na tinaanan
28:42ng mga taong to
28:43and eventually
28:44you will get there.
28:45So yun ang ginagawa ko,
28:46sir,
28:46so tinitignan ko kayo
28:47ano yung mga ginawa niya
28:48before,
28:49what are your failures,
28:50how did you overcome
28:52those failures,
28:53and eventually
28:55I will learn
28:56from those failures
28:57and I will apply it
28:58to myself.
28:59The most important
28:59is sa mga nakikinig
29:01is the education,
29:02the knowledge.
29:04Ay yung knowledge niyan
29:04is not power,
29:05it's the applied knowledge.
29:08That is power.
29:09So yung mga natutunan natin,
29:10if you are not going
29:11to apply it,
29:12that's nonsense.
29:13That's just entertainment.
29:15Parang na-motivate ka lang,
29:16and thereafter,
29:17wala ka namang ginawa.
29:18Walang action,
29:19di ba?
29:19In other words,
29:20there's no action.
29:21You're not able to learn,
29:23you're able to retain,
29:24but not to learn.
29:26You have to,
29:27more or less,
29:28para bang manifest mo yun.
29:30So tell me,
29:31Aris,
29:31anong plano mo ngayon?
29:33When or,
29:34how long are you staying there?
29:35Are you staying there for good,
29:38or do you have plans
29:39to come back?
29:41Okay,
29:42honestly speaking,
29:43our plan na really
29:44is to stay here
29:45because of our children.
29:48Because,
29:48ang tawag na ito,
29:53first and foremost,
29:54sir,
29:54yung dyan sa Pilipinas,
29:55kasi what I don't like really,
29:58what I consider na ayaw ko
30:00is first,
30:01mahal ang medication,
30:03mahal ang hospitalization,
30:06mahal ang doktor,
30:08tapos mainit,
30:10tapos mahal ang mga bilipin.
30:12So those are the things
30:13that I consider.
30:14So that's why,
30:15maybe around,
30:17three,
30:18four years ago,
30:21sinabi ko na sa aking wife,
30:22what are we going to do?
30:24Are we going to stay here
30:26for good,
30:27or,
30:28babalik tayo ng Pilipinas
30:30for good?
30:30So we decided
30:32to stay here
30:33not for good,
30:33pero hindi natin alam eh,
30:35what will happen
30:36in the future.
30:37I am not closing
30:39that door
30:39to return
30:40in the Philippines,
30:41but for now,
30:42we decided
30:42to really stay here,
30:44focus here,
30:45pero,
30:45our investments
30:46are in the Philippines.
30:47So I am not closing
30:48that door.
30:49So I piloted
30:51investments
30:51in the Philippines
30:52going global.
30:54So nag-invest na kami
30:55dito sa Italy
30:56and even sa global markets
30:58for us to fulfill
31:00the dream
31:01to really stay here.
31:02So tinitignan na namin
31:04what are the opportunities
31:05here,
31:05like buying our own house,
31:08then buying
31:09some rental properties.
31:11What are the possible
31:14investments
31:16so pwede lang
31:17yung pasukin dito
31:18para na magkaroon kami
31:19ng passive dito?
31:21But Aris,
31:22on the other side
31:23of the coin,
31:24how are your other
31:26or our other
31:26Filipino
31:27there in Italy
31:29doing?
31:31I mean,
31:31are they still
31:32on the same plateau
31:33as is where it is,
31:35spend and spend
31:36and earn?
31:38Ano ba nakikita mo?
31:40Kasi in other countries
31:41where, you know,
31:42Filipino overseas
31:43are there,
31:44they just keep buying
31:45and buying
31:46but never,
31:47you know,
31:47investing?
31:48Ano ba ang situation
31:49dyan sa Italy?
31:50Nakikita mo?
31:51I could only talk
31:52dito sa Palermo
31:54because in Rome
31:55they have this
31:55financial literacy.
31:57I was writing
31:58an article
31:59maybe two years ago
32:03sa isang blog
32:04dito sa Italy
32:06and then
32:07dito sa Palermo
32:09maybe we are just
32:11one person
32:11of the people
32:13who really
32:14do our thing
32:15in managing
32:17our finances.
32:17But
32:18I hope
32:19during my studies
32:25now
32:25personal finance
32:27is personal.
32:28Hindi po
32:29na sinasabi
32:30na
32:30ito yung gawin
32:31ito yung gawin
32:31you decide
32:32what you want
32:33but with my observation
32:35only 1%
32:36of the people
32:37dito sa Palermo
32:38Filipino people
32:39are really managing
32:40their man well.
32:42Yung mga iba
32:42they are in the habit
32:44of spending.
32:45Especially
32:45this Christmas season
32:47sir, no?
32:47I would just imagine
32:49yung daming
32:50nagpo-post
32:50ng kanilang
32:51mga
32:51bonus
32:5213 month pay
32:5414 month pay
32:56tapos
32:57tax refund
32:58tapos
32:59bonus
32:59yung may tinatawag
33:01kami itong bonus
33:02at ito
33:02yung may bonus
33:04yung mga
33:04nag-re-rent ng bahan
33:05would you imagine
33:06sir, no?
33:07Magkano yun
33:08kung sumasawad ka
33:10ng 1,000
33:10so sumawad ka
33:11ng 1,000
33:1213 month pay
33:13another 1,000
33:142,000
33:142,000
33:1514 month pay mo
33:16pwede 3,000
33:18na yun
33:18sabihin na natin
33:20yung kasi yung
33:21tax refund
33:22is another 1,000
33:22kasi usually
33:23minimum
33:231,000
33:244,000
33:26plus yung
33:26bonus rent mo
33:28another 1,000
33:295,000 euros
33:30in
33:31in a month
33:33so if your
33:34psychological wallet
33:36is not really
33:36that big
33:37magkaganin yung
33:39sami mo
33:39I want this
33:40Louis Vuitton
33:40I want this
33:41iPhone Pro Max
33:43so
33:43you are
33:45rich in December
33:46pagbating mo
33:46ng January 1
33:47you are back
33:48to your
33:49usual self
33:51big pit ng
33:53cinturon
33:53sabi nga nila
33:54yung mga ganon
33:55so
33:56tell me
33:57okay
33:58it's a big
33:58I think it's a big
33:59challenge on your part
34:001%
34:01yan
34:01so
34:02yung 1%
34:03you have to work
34:05on the 99%
34:07in Palermo
34:07lang
34:08I think that's your
34:10advocacy
34:10and that's what
34:11God is telling you
34:12right now
34:12the message
34:13that you are
34:14being given
34:15the talent
34:15you are given
34:16the skills
34:16but you cannot
34:17keep it yourself
34:18you have to
34:19yeah
34:20I was sharing
34:22it to my
34:23relatives
34:23during our
34:24Christmas party
34:25last night
34:26sabi nila
34:26what is
34:27takiba
34:28para
34:28medyo
34:29umangat
34:29ang dunay
34:30ang sabi ko
34:31sa kanila
34:31okay
34:31if we have
34:321000 euro
34:33for example
34:34na
34:35income
34:36and you live
34:38only within
34:39your means
34:40parang ganito yan
34:41break even
34:42ka lang
34:42sabi ko sa kanila
34:43so kung ikaw
34:44nabubuhay ka
34:45above your means
34:46talagang negative ka
34:47you will never
34:48get out of
34:50your situation
34:50right now
34:51pag ikaw naman
34:52ay break even
34:53ka lang
34:53within your means
34:54lang
34:55wala rin
34:55kasi nga
34:561000
34:57uubos mo
34:57na yung 1000
34:58wala
34:58the key is
34:59you live
35:00below
35:00your means
35:02sabi nga
35:03kung 1000
35:04yung sweldo mo
35:04itabi mo yung
35:05200 euro
35:07so imagine mo
35:08200 euro
35:09that's 2400
35:11in a year
35:12in 10 years
35:13that's 24000
35:14euros
35:14that's more than
35:15that's 1.3
35:171.4 million
35:18pesos na
35:19so you are
35:20a Filipino
35:20millionaire
35:21in 10 years
35:21e para kung
35:22magiging
35:22disiplinado ka
35:23mag-aaral ka
35:25you invest
35:25a little bit
35:26in 5 years
35:2810 years
35:28you will be
35:29multi-millionaire
35:31na investor
35:31yun ang sabi ko
35:32sa kanila
35:32the only key is
35:34you only live
35:34below
35:35means you train
35:36yourself
35:37na kapag may
35:38natanggog kang
35:39pera
35:39automatic
35:39tanggalin mo
35:40na yung savings
35:41mo
35:41ilagay mo na
35:42kahit makastos mo
35:43na yung rest
35:44and importante
35:45may na-itabi ka
35:46and then
35:46during that time
35:47mag-aaral ka na
35:48and then
35:50pag-aaralan mo
35:51what is an
35:51emergency fund
35:52what is investment
35:53and on that
35:55process
35:56you will see
35:56your fruit
35:57actually yung
35:58white fruit
35:58noong 2019
35:59our first investment
36:01is
36:01pag-ibig

36:13para sa mga
36:15pangmayaman

36:15sabi ko
36:17sa kanya
36:17nung

36:18na kami
36:18I was
36:19crying

36:28kung hindi tayo
36:29magkakaroon
36:30ng action
