00:00History is written by the victors, or in the case of pro wrestling, the Vincents.
00:04I suppose one of the benefits of having your own company and more money than God is being
00:08able to just rewrite history and erase the people you don't want in it.
00:12Such has happened numerous times throughout WWE's bizarre history, some of which have
00:16resolved themselves nicely, others, not so much.
00:19There's gonna be some jokes in this one eventually, I promise.
00:22We might just have to sift through some dire stuff first.
00:25I'm Tempest Haling from Parts Fun Known, and these are wrestlers WWE tried to erase from
00:30history.
00:31Hacking.
00:32Yes.
00:33I'm gonna hack into the mainframe.
00:36Damn.
00:37What's this?
00:38Some kind of firewall.
00:39That's why I'll hack my way through.
00:42And wait.
00:43It's not working.
00:44No.
00:45Stupid sexy Luke, always getting in my way.
00:48Hey Luke, what's up?
00:49Oh, I'm just hacking into the Parts Fun Known YouTube channel.
00:52I've forgotten my password.
00:54Why don't you just click Forgot My Password?
00:57You would say that.
00:58You always say that.
00:59Only a baby would say that.
01:02I'm not a ba- why do people keep saying that I'm a baby?
01:04Then why are you holding your baby phone, baby?
01:06Oh, I knew this wasn't my phone.
01:09See?
01:10Told you, you big baby!
01:11You're the real baby!
01:12You haven't even realised that the reason you can't hack in is because we use Surfshark!
01:16Surfshark?
01:17Yes, Surfshark!
01:18You can protect your online privacy, watch content from across the world, and stop pesky hackers
01:22from hacking into your mainframe with Surfshark VPN.

01:35Link in the description.
01:36Wow, thanks Pete.
01:37Yep, just click forgot your password, you're not going to get anywhere with hacking, and
01:41then you can go on the rest of the internet worry-free.
01:42Ah, don't worry.
01:43I'm going to continue hacking.
01:45I'm going to see how far I can get.
01:47Hacking.
01:49We have a problem.
01:55First up, Chris Benoit.
01:57Well, we all knew it would be on here, so let's just get it out of the way first.
02:00WWE's 2007 was pretty good from an in-ring standpoint, but it is difficult to remember
02:05that fact when you have to navigate through the darkest storm imaginable to try and enjoy
02:10any of it.
02:11That dark storm, of course, is the Benoit double murder-suicide.
02:15As soon as the nature of Benoit's death became apparent, WWE quickly course-corrected,
02:20alerted everyone that there would be no further mentions of Benoit, and rightfully so.
02:24Aside from literally removing him from the lineages of titles and the such, Benoit has
02:29been scrubbed from retellings of WWE history.
02:32Before the WWE Network existed, you would often find Benoit appearances skipped in anthology
02:36DVDs, such as the main event of WrestleMania 20 on the Shawn Michaels Mr. WrestleMania DVD,
02:42and heavily edited around, in the case of the inaugural Money in the Bank match, in the
02:45match's own anthology.
02:47This would have people occasionally joke whenever WWE would tout the stat that the number one
02:51spot in the Royal Rumble had as many winners as the number 30 spot.
02:55Like, ooooh, it's Shawn Michaels and who?
02:59But this isn't an entry to joke about, so let's just move on.
03:02Then we have Buck Zumoff.
03:04Now this is probably the entry of this list that the fewest viewers would have heard of
03:08before, and for all of you who have lived your lives not knowing the name Buck Zumoff,
03:12boy do I envy you.
03:14Buck Zumoff was a wrestler in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, primarily working in the AWA, but more
03:19importantly, he is a convicted sex offender currently serving 25 years in prison.
03:23Not someone you would want to have highlighted in the WWE history books by any stretch of
03:27the imagination, and for the most part, Zumoff would be easily swept under the WWE rug, with
03:33one exception, that being he holds the distinction of being the man who was beaten in Triple H's
03:38WWE debut.
03:40Understandably, the game's debut match has not been promoted as part of his legendary
03:45career with the company instead selecting Triple H's second match to represent his debut
03:50on his 2008 King of Kings DVD.
03:52If it wasn't clear, fuck that guy with a capital fuck.
03:56Next up, Brock Lesnar.
03:58This one actually comes in two halves, one stupid and one justified.
04:02We'll start stupid and then smarten up just as WWE did.
04:05In 2004, Brock Lesnar decided that being in a business that involved talking to people
04:09wasn't for him, and left WWE following WrestleMania 20.
04:12Considering Brock's run as the next big thing lasted precisely two years, which wasn't long
04:17enough for him to solidify himself as just THE big thing, WWE were quite displeased and
04:23sought to write him out of the history books where possible.
04:26The biggest case of this came later that year, when Randy Orton won the world title and earned
04:30the distinction of being the youngest world champion in WWE history, a distinction previously
04:35held by Brock Lesnar.
04:37Now this was maybe a little childish, considering they didn't have much interest in pushing
04:40Orton at the time, but Lesnar became persona non grata from that point on, making a rare
04:45reference to him during CM Punk's pipe bomb all the more newsworthy.
04:49But then we fast forward to present day, and after a return run that lasted over a decade,
04:53Brock Lesnar was implicated in the ongoing legal battle between Janelle Grant and Vince McMahon
04:58in WWE.
04:59Since January 2024, Lesnar has not been seen in WWE, has been removed from WWE 2K24, and
05:06has not been overtly mentioned since.
05:08Again, understandably so.
05:10And then you have Stone Cold Steve Austin.
05:13Now for a more temporary erasure.
05:15Stone Cold Steve Austin, at his height, was the most successful wrestler of all time,
05:19which made it all the more strange when in 2002 WWE tried to tell their audience that
05:24the Texas Rattlesnake really wasn't all that.
05:27Austin famously walked out of WWE after being told he'd be losing to Brock Lesnar in a King
05:31of the Ring qualifying match, a match result he thought should have been saved for the
05:34biggest stage imaginable.
05:36Austin has also said that he was burnt out and unhappy at the time anyway, so a break was
05:40likely necessary either way.
05:42But the nature of his departure had WWE seething.
05:45Not only did Vince McMahon go on Raw and alert the audience that Stone Cold had taken his
05:49ball and gone home, but until Austin's return in early 2003, WWE downplayed his importance
05:55in making the Attitude Era as special as it was, instead portraying DX and The Rock as
06:01the most important part of WWE's most popular period.
06:04This all went back to normal as soon as Austin returned, but the claims made while he was away,
06:09continued to stick in the minds of eagle-eyed fans as an example of the extreme pettiness
06:14of WWE.
06:15Next up, The Big Show.
06:16Now this one is a bit of a jade because this could be explained as those involved forgetting
06:21an otherwise useless detail during a time we'd all like to forget, but I'm including it
06:25on this list anyway because goddamn does it need some levity.
06:28If WWE fans can cast their minds back to a time of empty warehouse wrestling, they may
06:34remember that for some reason, WrestleMania 36 had an extra main event.
06:38Drew McIntyre wins the WWE Championship in a bittersweet moment, defeating Brock Lesnar,
06:43but then the next night, WWE reveals that actually, Drew McIntyre immediately defended his
06:49newly won title against The Big Show.
06:51And everyone said, well that's stupid.
06:54Maybe we all have gone stir-crazy after all.
06:56Since then, people have jokingly debated whether Big Show has another Mania main event under
07:00his belt or not.
07:02But now, WWE would have you to believe that he doesn't.
07:05In fact, the last it was mentioned, WWE would have you believe that this never happened
07:09at all.
07:10Last year, when Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins found themselves on opposite sides of war games,
07:15Michael Cole mentioned that Seth was Drew's first title challenger at Money in the Bank 2020.
07:19Now this could be WWE trying to erase Big Show's later contributions following his move to
07:24AEW, or maybe he just forgot.
07:27And honestly, I get that.
07:30And then there's Oli Anderson.
07:34Wrestling has more than one Royal Kayfabe Family.
07:38In the make-believe world of wrestling, there is no make-believe family more decorated than
07:42the Anderson family.
07:44This fake family tree would include folks like Gene Anderson, WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson,
07:49and even Ric Flair claiming to be a cousin of the Anderson family.
07:52But one Anderson who would not get mentioned in that same breath by WWE is Oli Anderson,
07:58decorated wrestler and founding member of the Four Horsemen.
08:02Oli and Vince McMahon always hated one another, dating back to McMahon's purchase of Georgia
08:06Championship Wrestling, in which Oli was the lone shareholder who refused to sell.
08:10This grudge would last until Oli's death earlier this year, and the subsequent tribute video
08:15aired on WWE was joked about with some saying Oli would have turned in his grave at the thought
08:20of it.
08:21But while alive, Oli was left out of the Four Horsemen's Hall of Fame induction, and largely
08:25left aside in conversations about the Horsemen outside of historical accuracies.
08:30And now, CM Punk.
08:32Ah, it's all good now, innit?
08:34They've kissed and made up.
08:36There's no reason to bring up the previous ten years, right?
08:39No?
08:40Fine.
08:41CM Punk and WWE was a match made in hell for years, and before hell could freeze over in
08:452023, everything was just left burning and burning and burning.
08:50Not only was Punk's exit from WWE unceremonious, which would give WWE all the reason they needed
08:55to kick their petty asses into high gear, but Punk's famous tell-all podcast with Colt Cabana
09:00was enough to burn down even the sturdiest of Bridges.
09:03I mean, or so we thought.
09:05Who knew Bridges could be rebuilt?
09:07From 2014 on, CM Punk was not to be mentioned in WWE, in spite of fans taking to using a CM
09:13Punk chant to voice their displeasure with whatever faff WWE was presenting at the time.
09:18But while Punk's return to WWE may have been the most shocking in history, there is still
09:23one that has fans clamoring to see it.
09:26That being AJ Lee.
09:28With the generation of Divas-era fans now reaching adulthood and finding their way to
09:32NXT, many of them, and fans in general, have been crying out for the WWE return of AJ Lee,
09:38something that for a time seemed just as unlikely as that of her husband CM Punk.
09:43AJ left WWE following WrestleMania 31 in 2015, just over a year after Punk left, and while
09:49it remains unclear how much of what happened next was directly linked to the company's
09:52pettiness towards that relationship, what is clear is that by the end of 2015, WWE had
09:58managed to erase AJ Lee's record from the WWE history books.
10:01AJ had claimed the distinction of having the longest ever Divas title reign at 295 days,
10:07and when she left, WWE wasted no time giving that distinction to someone else, with Nikki
10:12Bella breaking that record that September.
10:15This was a real era of WWE erasing title records of people they didn't like, and AJ's was definitely
10:20among them.
10:22And now I guess I have to talk about Hulk Hogan.
10:24Boy, wouldn't it have been nice to keep this one erased.
10:26Hulk Hogan, if you didn't know, is one of the most successful wrestling stars of all time,
10:31sitting atop the business for decades.
10:33He is also a big old racist racist.
10:36In 2015, recordings of Hogan emerged of him saying some truly horrendous things, and was
10:41fired by WWE shortly afterwards.
10:44Being replaced on the ongoing season of Tough Enough, and going unmentioned on WWE programming
10:48going forward.
10:50But of course, this only lasted a while, and by 2018 Hogan was invited back into the fold,
10:55having learned his lesson.
10:57Turns out the lesson was to watch what you say cause you never know when you're gonna
10:59be recorded, as he stated to the WWE locker room upon his return, instead of, well, you
11:05know, NOT BEING A BIG OLD RACIST RACIST.
11:08Anyway, you can look at his recent public appearances and decide for yourself if his place in and
11:12around WWE is warranted, but a big old double bird from me to you, Hogan, let's end with
11:18something a little less dire.
11:19Number 1 on this list, Roman Reigns.
11:23It is unfathomable to believe these days that at one point in time, WWE made a concerted effort
11:29to not speak of or show any footage involving Roman Reigns.
11:33Now WWE's true golden goose and top guy, the start of this current run began with Roman's
11:38Slam return in 2020, a return that quickly led to the start of his four-year Universal
11:43Championship reign.
11:45Before that, for some strange reason, WWE made no mention of Roman Reigns during the
11:50warehouse era of the pandemic, even going so far as to edit him out of highlights such as
11:55Seth Rollins' Heist of the Century title win.
11:57This one is probably the most bizarre on this list, as Roman's absence came as a result of this global
12:02pandemic we were all dealing with.
12:04Sure, Roman missed Wrestlemania 36 in his scheduled match with Goldberg, but after that it just
12:09seemed as if WWE wanted everyone to forget that Roman existed.
12:13Maybe this was done as a way to make fans not expect his eventual return, or, again,
12:19maybe they all just lost their minds in the pandemic.
12:22It wouldn't surprise me.
12:23Remember Raw Underground?
12:25Yeah, I try not to either.
12:27And that's our list.
12:28If you like our Survival Series show here on PFK, we do a movie version over on Cutscene.
12:32You can check out a clip from the latest episode right now.
12:35I need you to name me every single Stephen King adaptation.
12:42There's so many of them.
12:45Don't panic.
12:48Yes, okay, right, okay.
12:52This is a great category!
