00:00Everything you need to know about WWE moving WrestleMania 42, an AEW star shoots on the
00:07company, a TNA star leaves and more.
00:10I'm Luke Owen and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:15In the lead up to this year's Elimination Chamber, The Rock made a last minute announced
00:19appearance on an episode of SmackDown in New Orleans to make an announcement of his own.
00:24WrestleMania 42 was coming to New Orleans in 2026.
00:28However, in a rather unprecedented move, it's now being reported that New Orleans is no
00:34longer the host of WrestleMania 42.
00:37Brandon Thurston of WrestleNomics was the first to break this story, reporting that they'd
00:41received a statement from the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation that said Mania 42 would
00:46no longer take place in the city.
00:49According to WrestleNomics, the statement from the foundation was a joint one between themselves
00:53and WWE, and Sean Rossup of Fight4Select reported that WWE themselves confirmed this to him.
01:00Thurston adds the reason for the apparent change in plans for next year's WrestleMania location
01:05are unclear.
01:06Dave Meltzer noted via Twitter that the deal was finalized, but WWE informed New Orleans
01:11this morning, May 22nd, they were pulling out.
01:15However, one would assume that the relationship between TKO and New Orleans hasn't been soured.
01:20As the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation confirmed to WrestleNomics that not only will
01:24they host WrestleMania in a future year, they'll also host next year's Money in the Bank as
01:30part of a multi-year deal that also includes this July's UFC 318.
01:35Several other outlets confirmed this news, and Fight4Select reported that this is part of
01:40a larger deal.
01:41They add in a separate report, we're told this regime has been much more apt to waiting
01:46to announce any number of shows and are open to changes if the revenue generated is a significant
01:53increase.
01:54Which would seem to indicate that the reason WrestleMania was moved from New Orleans is because
01:59someone was offering more money to host it.
02:02So where will WrestleMania go now?
02:04Fight4Select reports that WWE have been in talks with Indianapolis to host Mania for years
02:09and that is still on the books, while PWInsider reported that some in WWE believed that Mania
02:1642 could be an international show.
02:19Saudi Arabia will be hosting the 2026 Royal Rumble, and the long-standing relationship between
02:24WWE and the Kingdom would make it a potential landing point for WrestleMania 42.
02:29The recent acquisition of AAA to get a stronger foothold in the Mexican market led to some fan
02:34speculation that we could have a Mexico mania.
02:37And of course, Triple H and Nick Khan met with London Mayor Sadiq Khan a couple of years
02:42back to talk about WWE doing a major show here in London.
02:46Which gives me an excuse to use this image of our London Mayor posing with the teeniest,
02:51tiniest of WWE Championship belts, look at it, it's so adorable.
02:55I genuinely think this is one of wrestling's biggest mysteries.
03:01Why the f*** are they posing with such a small belt?
03:04However, it looks like WrestleMania won't be moving much further from where it was this year.
03:09Shortly after the news came out and speculation began to run wild across the internet about
03:14where Mania 42 might land, NOLA.com put up an article that said WrestleMania 42 would
03:19return to Las Vegas, the home of this year's WrestleMania.
03:24WrestleNomics updated their reports with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority,
03:28which played a key role in bringing the 2025 event to the city, didn't immediately respond
03:33to our message seeking confirmation.
03:35Fightful Select added in a separate report, someone formerly connected to WWE also intimated
03:41to them that Vegas would be the home of WrestleMania 42.
03:45Mania 42 was originally scheduled for April 11th and 12th in 2026, but Fightful Select reports
03:51those we are speaking to expect a date change.
03:54The early word we got was that no Las Vegas deal was finalized, but they were closing in
03:59on Allegiant Stadium for April 18th and 19th.
04:03And we'll have more about the backstage reaction to this news after a word from this
04:06video sponsor Surfshark.
04:07And that's all for this episode of the WrestleTalk News, thanks for joining me and I'll see
04:12you all tomorrow.
04:13Are you here to smite me?
04:14Okay, I'll admit CM Punk might have done some morally questionable things.
04:26Okay, some pretty bad things.
04:29Okay, CM Punk was a bit of a cock in AEW.
04:32What are you, like an elite fangod?
04:35Yes, I'm a fanboy, but it's not why I'm here really.
04:39I'm here because I have a terrible prophecy.
04:43What's gonna happen?
04:44Your IP address, your data, all stolen.

05:39Fightful Select report, upon hearing the news, many WWE employee, staff and talent were shocked.
05:45Part of that shock stems from some in WWE being surprised to see Mania 41 and 42 locations
05:51being announced so late.
05:52Mania 41 was announced in May 2024, and Mania 42 was announced just this past February.
05:58With no official confirmation or announcement from WWE, this would make WrestleMania 42's
06:03location one of the latest to ever be announced.
06:07Hilariously however, when they asked talent about what they made of the news, they mostly
06:11replied with what could best be described as an Alan Partridge shrug gif.
06:16Fightful report, talent that we spoke to are largely unfazed.
06:20WWE arranges transport for Mania weekend, so talent wouldn't be making any sort of plans.
06:25Some even told Fightful they've not even started thinking about next year's WrestleMania.
06:29But there are some people who do have to make plans for WrestleMania 42.
06:34While Mania weekend is a big one for WWE, it's also a massive one for independent promotions
06:40who run shows across Mania weekend to take advantage of the fact that there's thousands
06:45and thousands of wrestling fans who want to see wrestling in a centralized location.
06:50The same thing happens here in the UK.
06:52When AEW ran All In at Wembley Stadium for the past couple of years, there were several shows
06:56from Progress, Defy, Rev Pro, Eve, Hustle and Riot Cabaret and more around the city.
07:01This year's Mania saw shows from Progress, GCW, Bloodsport, Joey Jalela's Spring Break
07:07and more, as well as the big WrestleCon events.
07:11And according to Fightful Select, there was immediate frustration from within the wrestling
07:16industry when the news came out that New Orleans would no longer be hosting WrestleMania.
07:21In particular, they have been told that WrestleCon had already signed a deal with a venue in New
07:27Orleans to host the convention.
07:30And while they've not heard of any specific promotions, crossing T's and dotting lowercase
07:34J's on deals, they write that it's common practice to secure locations for your event
07:40at least a year in advance.
07:42They report there was immediate posturing from a number of companies to find out where
07:48next year's WrestleMania would be moved to.
07:50So what do you make of the WrestleMania 42 change?
07:53Let me know in the comments down below.
07:55But before we get to WrestleMania 42, we've got the small matter of Money in the Bank in
08:00a couple of weeks' time.
08:01This coming Sunday, myself and Oli Davis will be giving our three word predictions for the
08:052025 Money in the Bank in the latest edition of Three Count, but it looks like we might have
08:11got one of them wrong if a new report is to be believed.
08:15Shortly after WrestleMania, the Wrestling Observer reported that WWE had plans for John Cena
08:20to tag with Travis Scott for a PPV match, potentially with Bad Bunny on the babyface side.
08:27It then came out that, despite fans fantasy booking John Cena vs CM Punk for Money in the
08:31Bank to mirror their 2011 classic, the Travis Scott tag match would take place at that show.
08:37Spoilers for this Sunday's three counts, Oli and myself predicted it would be Cody Rhodes
08:42and R-Truth to follow on from tomorrow's Saturday night's main event.
08:46And we might have been half right, but it turns out this tag match could become a trio.
08:52In a world where wrestling and game shows should never go together, WrestleTalk presents a wrestling game show.
09:09WrestleVotes are reporting that Scott being at Money in the Bank has been in the works since even before WrestleMania 41.
09:16WrestleVotes are reporting that Scott being at Money in the Bank has been in the works since even before WrestleMania 41.
09:27PW Insider and PW Insider are reporting that he could tag with John Cena and Logan Paul to take on Cody Rhodes and the Usos.
09:48If true, that would mean that tomorrow's Saturday night's main event is not the end of the program between Jey Uso and Logan Paul.
09:57Would you like to see John Cena in his final year as a professional wrestler, team with Travis Scott and Logan Paul?
10:04I think you can tell by the tone of my voice where I stand.
10:08Let me know in the comments down below.
10:10Speaking of making comments and Scorpio Sky has made some choice ones about All Elite Wrestling.
10:15Sky came into the company right at its launch as part of SCU with Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian.
10:22He was one half of the first ever tag team champions, a former TNT champion and even pinned Chris Jericho when Jericho was the world champion to earn a title shot.
10:32He last wrestled for AEW so long ago that he lost to Andrade El Idolo on a September 2023 edition of Collision.
10:39He then had a few matches in Ring of Honor, but it was reported that he was injured again after having just come back from a length of time.
10:45Back in April, Fightful Select reported that it was a puzzling situation as to why Scorpio Sky had not been featured again on TV as he was now fit and healthy.
10:54He had a segment with Private Party on an August edition of Rampage last year, which led to nothing, and he's been wrestling on independent shows regularly since last September.
11:03And now speaking on his podcast, Creating Character, he's opened up about his frustrations with AEW, which he believes stems from an interview he did with Chris Van Vliet where he said he was off TV due to injury and bad luck.
11:17He said, to be honest with you, I didn't lie when I was on Chris Van Vliet's show, but I definitely went out of my way to not make the company look bad.
11:26I really, obviously, wanted to preserve a relationship that has been built over a number of years, and I didn't want to say anything that would poison that relationship.
11:36Come to find out, someone there still maybe has a few issues with some of the things I may have said.
11:42Now I'm like, screw it, I'm gonna say whatever the hell I want now.
11:47He added, the reality is, I don't know what it is.
11:51I don't know if there is bad blood or not.
11:53I know I'm healthy, and I've been healthy for a long time, and I've been wanting to compete.
12:00It was reported that Sky signed a five-year deal with AEW in 2021, meaning 2026 will be his contract year.
12:07And speaking of contracts, Scott D'Amore in his weekly column writes that Ace Austin's contract with TNA has come to term and the two sides have split amicably.
12:15D'Amore writes he's been there since he was barely out of his teens, and he's ready to step up.
12:20I signed him, and everything he's shown since confirmed that Ace Austin becoming a massive star is, indeed, inevitable.
12:28He's ready for that next chapter.
12:30I think it's time Ace Austin goes all in on proving he's one of the best.
12:35That's all from me today.
12:36Make sure you check out yesterday's WrestleTalk podcast, where we reviewed AEW Dynamite, gave our predictions for Double or Nothing, and Saturday Night's Main Event,
12:44and ask the question, are we getting too many WWE shows?
