01:43Bob Willis has just about recovered from another England nail-biter yesterday and I'm delighted to say that he and Ajita Garka will be sharing their thoughts on today's action a little later in the show.
01:57We'll start with today's match from Group A which saw Sri Lanka playing away from home for the first time in the competition as they travel to Mumbai to take on New Zealand.
02:08England would have been watching this match closely as the winner of this game could be their opponents in the quarter-finals depending on a number of results this weekend.
02:17So plenty of interest in this game. As far as the team news was concerned, both sides made one change with New Zealand replacing the injured Kyle Mills with Hamish Bennett and Sri Lanka opting for the spin of Ajanta Mendes over the pace of Tisara Pereira.
02:35Kumar Sangakara won the toss and chose to bat first. Here's what happened.

39:01to the sri lankan team very well played a victory by 112 runs
39:11well new zealand never really got going today and paid the price by falling way short after the
39:16bowlers had given them a great chance the top order got in and got out and that left the middle order
39:21at the mercy of murali spinners aren't supposed to like dewy conditions but he didn't seem bothered
39:26by that or by the injury to his left hamstring but he picked up trying to avoid being run out
39:31this sri lankan bowling attack is very well balanced and they all chipped in but murali
39:36was a class apart so in the end it was an easy victory for sri lanka the margin 112 runs with 15
39:43overs to spare when the when when we won the toss and when we even before when we looked at the pitch
39:49we knew it was a bit soft we knew the first 10 12 overs were going to be difficult and it turned
39:54out just so uh the new zealanders were pretty good lines and lengths we lost um two wickets
39:58so it was just a case of digging deep and making sure we wrote it there's a strike and had enough
40:02wickets in hand to accelerate at the end now dare one say this you're only two games away from being
40:07back here um have you learned a about the pitch b about the general conditions and c of course about
40:13this evening due yeah you know there was a bit of due more than uh we expected uh it's probably
40:19something to keep in mind but two games is a long way away so we need to go back and if you're playing
40:24in sri lanka make sure that we adjust to the conditions there rebuild um you know and start
40:29from the basics and how important was not being able to bat first here do you think i think it had a
40:34little bit of a factor but in saying that we're going to give credit to sri lanka they played very
40:37well and the way murali came out and bowled during the middle i think we're with the right the whole
40:42way we just keep losing wickets at crucial times you're in the relatively luxurious position of knowing
40:47that you've qualified for the quarterfinals you would have been buoyant about that has this defeat
40:53tonight in any way taken some of that buoyancy away i think um probably a little bit but in saying that
40:58we we know we're there we're going to find out in a couple of days who our opponents are and pick
41:02ourselves up and play a lot better in the next match and what's the position with your key injuries
41:06daniel and kyle i think they're improving every day which is which is a good good sign i guess um
41:12homie spanner going down today uh puts another spanner in the works but in saying that hopefully they can
41:17come around the next couple of days the way the guys played today i think you know we are well on
41:21our way murali a legend again you know bowling off one leg and still getting wicked so the rest of the
41:26guys chipped in and managed to do the job required of them
