00:00Dr. Ellie, there's been a lot going on ahead of this big summit that the world is focused on in Alaska tomorrow.
00:09We've had nonstop news lines coming out. We've had meetings. We've had talks. Everyone's involved.
00:16But what is the chance of anything actually changing on the ground in Ukraine after this meeting?
00:24Because we can talk about diplomacy and we can talk about world leaders, but it's the people fighting on the front lines that are still in the depth of this conflict.
00:34Very true. And everybody around the world is indeed anticipating what's going to come out from this summit.
00:42However, we're going to say that very little on the ground is going to change the day after.
00:47A ceasefire is still a bit far ahead to reach, and it's going to be a discussion with Zelensky and Zelensky's presence and maybe the upcoming meeting between Putin and Zelensky that Trump said he might broker as a next step.
01:02But I think the two leaders, the two egos, the two heroes between brackets that have been waiting to see each other,
01:12and both of them definitely present themselves as the only ones who can actually make the deal.
01:18Now they are meeting, and there is a potential to move a serious step towards peace in Ukraine.
01:23But also let's keep in mind what we have always said, that Putin's interest in talking to Trump is not strictly Ukraine at all.
01:32They would be discussing the whole world.
01:34We would be discussing India, China, the Gulf, Europe, all of that, energy, space, all of this, in a way.
01:43Two, it's again a play that strategic division of power, if I may say, on the global scene, rather than discussing Ukraine specifically.
01:54Ukraine will just fit as one piece of the whole puzzle.
