00:00All right, here we go.
00:12We'll be real quick tonight.
00:14It's interesting listening.
00:16Offense is night before a game meeting.
00:19Defense is night before a game meeting.
00:20The highlights, it reminds me of my junior year in high school.
00:25The day of a game, it's my first game at LaSalle College High School.
00:30And Philadelphia Catholic League, known for tough football games.
00:33We're sitting in the locker room.
00:35I'm kind of getting my feel for things.
00:37And then all of a sudden, an assistant coach walks in,
00:39and he picks up a chair and throws it through the window.
00:43And I'm like, oh, man, this is awesome.
00:47I was juiced.
00:47I was cranked up.
00:48We go out there and beat this team.
00:50The problem was the next week, the coach didn't come in to the locker room
00:57and throw another chair through a window, right?
00:59It just doesn't work.
01:01Consistency is my point.
01:03So the best thing I feel like I've learned over the years that I can be for you
01:06is consistent, right?
01:10Consistent.
01:10So here's the deal.
01:11We've talked about this for two-plus weeks.
01:16We've been working on this, right?
01:18Two-plus weeks.
01:20Nothing new.
01:22The work is in.
01:24And the work's put in.
01:25You don't need to do anything else tomorrow than what you've done every day at practice.
01:33Trust it.
01:34You have what it takes.
01:36You have what it takes.
01:37You have what it takes.
01:38You have what it takes.
01:38You have what it takes.
01:39You have what it takes.
01:39You have what it takes.
01:40You have what it takes.
01:41You have what it takes.
01:41You have what it takes.
01:42You have what it takes.
01:43You have what it takes.
01:44You have what it takes.
01:45You have what it takes.
01:46You have what it takes.
01:47You have what it takes.
01:48You have what it takes.
01:49You have what it takes.
01:50You have what it takes.
01:51You have what it takes.
01:52You have what it takes.
01:53You have what it takes.
01:54You have what it takes.
01:55You have what it takes.
01:56You have what it takes.
01:57You have what it takes.
01:58You have what it takes.
01:59You have what it takes.
02:00If you want to understand an NFL team, really know them.
02:25You have to know their stories.
02:27Height and weight, time in the 40, tackles made, passes caught are all good to know.
02:35But stats don't get to the heart of the matter.
02:38They don't tell you how far a man has come, let alone where he wants to go.
02:44It's going to be a great day today.
02:45But if you listen closely, their stories will.
02:49And no team has better stories than the Buffalo Bills.
02:52Let's go, come on.
02:57Men who've beaten impossible odds, overcome crippling injuries, doubters, cancer, even death.
03:10And one of their best stories starts with one of the game's best nicknames, Buffalo Joe.
03:16Who do you think is going to, like, who's the guy that's like the sleeper this year so far?
03:24Sleeper.
03:25You know, like, that's a great question because sometimes you get some guys that surprise you.
03:31Like, you know Andreessen last year, remember 44?
03:34Yeah.
03:35Played unbelievable.
03:36And it was like, wow.
03:37Like, that team really showed up.
03:39And ended up having a great year.
03:42Made the team, yeah.
03:43Bought local kid.
03:44Buffalo Joe.
03:46Let's win.
03:47Go Buffalo, Buffalo Joe!
03:50Second-year linebacker Joe Andreessen is a good guy.
03:53It can be problematic.
03:56NFL linebackers are paid to be mean, not nice.
04:00I said you can be as nice as you want off the field.
04:03When you get on the field, all right, just nasty.
04:06Nasty dogs.
04:15Put yourself in position, Joe.
04:22Come on, Joe.
04:24Come on.
04:25We got to be better than this.
04:27Actually, Andreessen has been exceeding expectations for a while.
04:32Not just undrafted, he was completely unnoticed by NFL front offices.
04:36Just another kid who grew up a Bills fan.
04:42But he caught their eye at a local pro day, earned an invite to rookie camp, and scored a contract.
04:49Then that big heart and a knack for big hits earned him a roster spot.
04:54He played in 13 games last season.
04:57Still, he takes nothing for granted.
04:59So even, like, deep into the season, I was just really fighting to stay on the team, because, you know, I knew I could get cut any time.
05:07Drilled by Joe Andreessen.
05:09Let's go!
05:10Buffalo Joe!
05:12Buffalo Joe just buried him at the 20.
05:15He's a Buffalo guy.
05:16He's a lunch pail, blue-collar kid.
05:18For him, a local hero, to make our 53, play the season, have the success he had, it's a fun story to watch and follow from my seat.
05:27It isn't just the nickname that makes him the favorite.
05:30It's his work ethic.
05:32Buffalo Joe never stops.
05:34Good, Buffalo.
05:36I'm not the first person that has made the team from being a rookie minicamp trial guy.
05:39Other guys have done it, so you just kind of keep your foot on the pedal, keep going.
05:43You know, it's all about ball and, you know, putting good stuff on film.
05:47Hey, push!
05:51Damn!
05:51Come on, bro.
05:55Joe, keep him the fuck up, dude.
05:57Keep him the fuck up.
05:58Come on, bro.
05:59Shut your ass up.
06:00Shut your ass up.
06:01Keep him the fuck up.
06:02He's running out of bounds.
06:03He's running out of bounds.
06:05Keep him up.
06:06He's just got him fucking hurt.
06:08That's horse shit.
06:13What up, man?
06:15What up?
06:17Have a good season, man.
06:18I tell my kids to work hard and then maybe they'll be like you, so...
06:22Best of luck.
06:24I appreciate it.
06:25How you doing?
06:26Good.
06:27Sweaty.
06:27That's all right.
06:28I'm used to those sweaty hugs.
06:29Humid one today.
06:30Yeah.
06:35That's all right.
06:39I was 44.
06:40That's Joe, Buffalo Joe.
06:42I'm a Buffalo J, keep forgetting.
06:45Underdog stories are the easy part of the job.
06:48The business side can be rough.
06:51GM Brandon Bean is dealing with his first hold-in in nine seasons.
06:58Yeah, let's talk about the latest hold-in for James Cook,
07:02one of the best running backs in the NFL.
07:04Just not quite paid like one yet.
07:09Star running back James Cook is in the final year of the contract he signed as a rookie.
07:16Cook wants his next one to be a bit bigger.
07:19Off the ground.
07:20Cook's got a hole.
07:22Cook's still going.
07:24James Cook takes it the distance.
07:29The Cook has found the kitchen.
07:32And James Cook shows off his world-class feed.
07:35The Bills desperately needed a score.
07:37James Cook delivers.
07:43Contract disputes can be awkward.
07:46No one likes them.
07:48But at least they've evolved.
07:50Cook is with his teammates every day, present like a pro.
07:55The old school way of holding out is the player wasn't around.
07:59They're working out at some other facility.
08:01They're not in meetings.
08:02The hold-in that's kind of going on these days is the player is in meetings, participating in most everything except actual practice itself.
08:13Our philosophy is to draft, develop, and re-sign our own.
08:16And that starts with ownership, them giving us the resources to do that.
08:21The perfect world is James back on the practice field.
08:24And at some point, you know, we're able to keep him here in Buffalo.
08:27It doesn't have to happen now.
08:28I'm hopeful a year from now that James Cook is still wearing the Buffalo Bills red, white, and blue.
08:34Go ahead, take a break.
08:34I love James so much.
08:39He's, you know, you feel like it's a guy you've drafted and developed.
08:42And a lot of times these guys feel like your sons or your younger brothers, however you look at it.
08:48I also have to manage the whole team and the cap and the cash and all those things.
08:52And so the whole puzzle has to work together.
08:55I'm a big advocate of everybody getting paid.
08:57And sometimes you got to do what you got to do.
09:00But, hey, this is generational stuff.
09:04It's wealth for you and your family.
09:06It's, you know, it's not a small chunk of change in making sure that he's healthy and still going through the mental reps.
09:14He's still doing that.
09:15He's a pro.
09:16Just make sure you stay engaged and see all the players.
09:18You know what I'm saying?
09:20Make sure you see them all.
09:22You get these reminders from time to time that it is a business and it's an opportunity for somebody else to step up, show us what they've got.
09:30Team moves forward.
09:31That's the nature of the business.
09:33No problem.
09:34How you doing?
09:36Very good.
09:37Good?
09:38Can we be number one soon or what?
09:40Nah.
09:40I'm just kidding.
09:41It's all right.
09:42I like James there.
09:44James is a little bit better than me on that one.
09:46You deserve it.
09:48Cook's absence is giving second-year back Ray Davis more reps and more responsibility.
09:55But it's not making him buggy.
09:57He's embracing the opportunity.
09:59I didn't do a hand-set.
10:00Get out of here.
10:02I love you, baby.
10:02Have a great day.
10:03Yeah.
10:04Good to go with it.
10:05Good.
10:06Get your hips down.
10:17There you go.
10:18Get up on it.
10:19There you go.
10:19The biggest thing I always see from a rookie from one year to the next is just the communication,
10:22the comfort level.
10:23Hey, big thing.
10:24Understand, they're running jerks.
10:25I want you to get it.
10:26As a rookie, at the end of the day, you're getting the hose, you know, sprayed on your face,
10:28trying to just get through.
10:29So, I'm just trying to see that just his comfort level and his approach and mindset and understanding of, I'm not just running an offensive play.
10:36I'm understanding the scheme.
10:38I'm understanding how the defense is kind of playing it and then how that's all going to kind of work together.
10:41Comfortable players are fast players, and there's no substitute for speed.
10:50Hey, you guys ready to compete for the ball.
10:53Feel a lot more confident in the year, too.
10:55Dude, no doubt.
10:55Isn't it?
10:56That full-year experience, you just kind of know what to expect.
10:58Yeah, yeah.
10:58Know the offense.
11:00I was scared to make mistakes.
11:01I was timid.
11:02I'm like, I'm running.
11:03I'm running trying to be perfect, and now I'm just like, ah.
11:05Just playing.
11:06Lose your instincts, for sure.
11:09Davis has more than good instincts.
11:12He's got versatility.
11:14Did you know that?
11:14So, we have this, like, thing in our office where it's, like, make a bet on, like, the craziest thing of having a practice, and I said, Ray Davis field goals.
11:23Yeah, you know, so we got Ray Davis to running back.
11:26Now we got Ray Davis to kick her.
11:29Ray's kicking field goals.
11:31Who's taking it?
11:32We've got Ray Davis.
11:33What's coming up?
11:34Oh, that's Ray.
11:36That's Ray Davis.
11:38With starting kicker Tyler Bass injured, Davis was called upon as the emergency kicker in last week's Blue and Red game.
11:45We bought soccer cleats yesterday, like, two days ago.
11:48No freaking way.
11:49They went to ditch, yeah.
11:50They went to ditch and got him right?
11:51Yeah.
11:52I just kept screaming from the top of my lungs that I can kick.
11:55I kept telling everybody I can kick.
11:57He said he told everyone that he could kick.
11:59Were you part of that group?
12:00Yeah, I was very aware that, um, that he had, that he was, that he had the, uh, kicking shoe ready to go.
12:08I was two or three.
12:09I think it's good for Ray to get a little bit of a, as an emergency kicker.
12:14Like, let's say he scores this weekend, we may have to literally throw his shoe out to him.
12:18He's gonna have to get it tied.
12:20We probably should get Velcro, the old G.I. Joe's, you know, the Velcro.
12:23You get a shoeless kicker.
12:26Pops the shoe off.
12:27Go old school.
12:27Well, let's hope they let me kick, and if I do, I can finally tell the world I'm the best kicker, the best running back kicker.
12:36I think I can compete with the best of them.
12:37Have you ever kicked one before?
12:39When I was in, like, high school.
12:41I might, you might see me at preseason.
12:43I might get a little kick in.
12:44New job.
12:45Yeah, you know, I gotta make the offer.
12:50Preseason game number one is just four days away.
12:56In a couple days, we're gonna play a real game.
12:59And fundamentals are gonna show up.
13:03And so we're gonna work a full team, other than quarterbacks and O-line, full team tackle circuit.
13:09So we're giving you the chance, right, to work on it before the game.
13:15We just gotta make sure we're clean.
13:17We got a week to get clean.
13:18You know what I'm saying?
13:20So we can't have this on Saturday.
13:22We can control this.
13:24Now it's getting real.
13:26We're gonna line up and play a real ball on Saturday.
13:28It's the deep balls that play actions.
13:30Those are gonna be dialed up.
13:31We got to be on point.
13:33We don't need that ball getting thrown over our head.
13:36When we go from no pads to then pads, and you hear it, yeah, you see it, but you also hear it up close,
13:44and you're going, wow.
13:45Yeah.
13:46And then the same thing with this Saturday.
13:49Right.
13:49When you're now in a game, you know, it ramps up each time.
13:52Then regular season, playoffs, right, Super Bowl.
13:55Yeah.
13:56Which one of those rookies, but you think is nervous, though?
14:0096?
14:04Even in 98, he likes to talk, but that bitch is nervous, too.
14:08You see it on his face.
14:10Not surprising, they're nervous.
14:19Josh Allen has that effect on defenses.
14:21Come on, who wants it?
14:50Let's go.
14:50Come on, come on, come on.
14:58Nice cast.
14:59No, no, no.
15:01Hey, no, no.
15:03Shut him up.
15:05Shut him up.
15:07Yes.
15:08Yeah, D.
15:10Good cut, D, good cut.
15:15There you go.
15:16Watch the arms out.
15:17Say!
15:19Hello!
15:19Good cut!
15:19No!
15:21Please!
15:28Hey!
15:29Hey!
15:31Yeah!
15:39Hey!
15:39Hey!
15:40Hey!
15:40Hey!
15:41Hey!
15:42Hey!
15:43Josh Allen is as good as they come, but even he can always brush up on his footwork.
16:01Oh, you all right?
16:03You all right?
16:04I'm going, I'm going, I'm going.
16:08Josh, side 17.
16:10Let's roll here, boys.
16:14Receiver K.J. Hamler hasn't made a 53-man roster in two years.
16:20He's got enough talent to change that.
16:24K.J., several years back, had a few injuries, hit some adversity, and he's a guy that's a dynamic player with the ball in his hands.
16:31Speed is the first thing that stands out when you watch him, so he's got to show that speed and versatility.
16:37Like, how many different roles can he play for us?
16:40That is what he needs to do to set himself apart.
16:43He's got enough talent to get him.
16:44He's got enough talent to get him.
16:45He's got enough talent to get him.
16:46He's got enough talent to get him.
16:47He's got enough talent to get him.
16:48Damn!
16:49They knew I'm short!
16:50Back up, back up!
16:51He's got enough talent to get him.
16:52Everyone knows his size.
16:53He's not the biggest, but he considers himself like a little pit bull.
16:56We're not running away from no smoke today.
16:58They ain't got me turks up.
16:59Yeah.
17:00We dropping shoulders off.
17:01They been hitting us off.
17:02I can't fuck that!
17:03He brings energy.
17:04He brings juice.
17:05And his speed is when he gets on the football field, you feel him.
17:09So a couple things.
17:10One, be careful about getting too wide.
17:11Yeah.
17:12And then where'd you have the ball there?
17:13Yes, I don't.
17:14Right?
17:15You know what I'm saying?
17:16So all the little things, right?
17:17It could be a dead play.
17:18I don't care.
17:19Second and 12, it's second and 12.
17:20If you're falling inside, that's when bad stuff happens, you know?
17:22Yo, keep working, man.
17:23Keep working.
17:24Nobody said this road to be easy.
17:25You know, I've been through that.
17:26But as long as I'm grinding, as long as I'm working, and as long as I'm here, I always
17:30got a shot.
17:31Come on.
17:34Come on, KJ.
17:36How high was that ball?
17:39Right here.
17:40I ain't talking.
17:43Was that ball high?
17:45Yeah, I thought that was high.
17:46I thought I could have got it, but I don't know.
17:47I think I might have jumped through that.
17:49From my point of view, I'd be real if I thought you had a chance on that one.
17:52I thought it would be a lot.
17:54Fuck.
17:55I should have got that.
17:56That was a tough one.
17:58Yo, bro.
17:59When I seen that clip, bro, or you and that scooter, bro, that shit had me in tears, bro.
18:04Oh, this mug don't even work.
18:10Oh, there he goes.
18:11I don't even know where that little mother at, bro.
18:13Bro, I put it down somewhere, that bitch gone.
18:15Why those little kids took it?
18:17Somebody's son took it.
18:18That it belonged to.
18:24Let me show y'all something, man.
18:25Let me show y'all something, man.
18:26Let me show y'all something, man.
18:28This mug, this mug called the Scoot Scoot 3000.
18:32You feel what I'm saying?
18:34I was hyped when I got the new scooter.
18:35Okay.
18:36Yeah.
18:37They said they tired of me in the little kid's scooter.
18:40Said we got to get one for the grown folks.
18:43I just wanted to be like the cool kids.
18:44That's all.
18:47Real gangster.
18:49The last scooter?
18:51Funny story.
18:52Man, I don't know if it got stole or I left it somewhere.
18:58That mug gone, though.
18:59I ain't gonna lie to you.
19:00That mug's out in the wind.
19:01Probably a squirrel took it.
19:02Mm-mm.
19:04But this, though?
19:06I'm gonna be looking like Inspector Gadget on this mug.
19:08You don't even understand.
19:09I wish that I could be like the cool kids.
19:14Like the cool kids.
19:17Oh, yeah, I'm official.
19:19Ooh, I'm official.
19:22We're moving fast.
19:24Hey, you feel me?
19:27Look, I'm about to put some spinners on that mug.
19:30You need a bell.
19:31A bell?
19:33I'm too grown.
19:34It got a bell?
19:39Gangsta!
19:41Wow.
19:43They can hear me coming down the block.
19:47Y'all see the smoke coming up from the back of the tire?
19:49I'm doing donuts.
19:50I wish that I could be like the cool kids.
19:54Like the cool kids.
19:57The right wheels can make things fun.
20:01To infinity and beyond.
20:04The proper precautions can save a life.
20:08In 2017, Sean McDermott underwent surgery for skin cancer.
20:13He doesn't take any chances in the sun.
20:15All right.
20:16All right.
20:17Nice and relaxed and any time.
20:18It takes more than an offensive line when your opponent is the sun.
20:22I'm Sean McDermott, head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
20:25And whether it's a pass rush or UV rays, you can defend your skin.
20:29One in five.
20:30It first hit me in Philadelphia when I worked alongside of Jim Johnson,
20:33who died of skin cancer, and it happened rather fast.
20:37Jim was a great mentor for me, and I learned a lot from him.
20:40I'll never forget him and also never forget the lesson I learned by being around that situation and watching it unfold.
20:47You know, being fair skinned myself and dealing with skin cancer overall, it's been a challenge.
20:54So this is the gamut of sunscreen that I like to take to the beach with me.
21:02Really just kidding.
21:03Really just practice.
21:05My wife says it's kind of my lot.
21:06It's what I deal with, right?
21:08At times, honestly, I feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle, but there's a lot of people who have it a lot worse than I do.
21:13Nose is huge because I've had skin cancer there prior, and they basically cut out the skin.
21:21They keep going down and peeling layer by layer off the skin until they find no cancer cells.
21:28And then I put my coat on, which takes care of my arms, my neck.
21:37So this is like my lab coat and my bucket hat.
21:42Got to make sure the Bills logo is at 12 o'clock so I got enough swag.
21:49That's important for me.
21:51I have a lot of freckles as it is, so sometimes, you know, it's like, what is that?
21:54Oh, it's a freckle.
21:55But you have to watch those as well, that they're not growing or becoming, you know, kind of weird-looking.
22:00Same with moles.
22:01People have moles.
22:03Self-check is huge.
22:04If we stay on it, we'll find it and we'll be good.
22:06So for Coach Levy's 100th birthday, we're going to try and call him here.
22:15Hello?
22:16Coach Levy.
22:18Yes?
22:19Sean McDermott here at the Buffalo Bills.
22:21Hi, Sean. How are you doing?
22:23I'm doing great. I'm doing great. I'm glad we could connect this morning.
22:28I wanted to wish you a happy birthday.
22:30Oh, for gosh sakes, as busy as you are.
22:33Sean, thank you very much. I appreciate it.
22:36It's still pulling for you.
22:38Well, listen, we miss you.
22:39Hopefully, you can come see us this season and get this crowd fired up before one of our games.
22:45So much of as busy as you are. Thank you so much for this kind call.
22:50Good luck. Go Bills. Carry on. Thanks, Sean.
22:54All right, Coach. All the best. We love you. Happy birthday.
22:58Thank you. Bye.
22:59Bye.
23:02There we go. What a way to get our day started, huh?
23:13As he laces up his cleats, Josh Palmer gets prepared for a practice.
23:17He gets his mind right. Feet patters.
23:21He praises the Lord before he takes the field.
23:27Hey, I'm going to be a commentator.
23:28It's going to be a free one.
23:29I'll be a commentator when I grow up.
23:30For real.
23:31Y'all see that? This is what color I came here.
23:33This is what color I am now.
23:35Don't say camp don't change you.
23:37Change.
23:38Change your field.
23:39Whatever I still don't see me coming.
23:41I took a picture the other day with my damn kids.
23:42I look like an unlocked character.
23:44He said an unlocked character.
23:46All right, let's go to work. Here we go, Josh.
23:48Hey, alert it, alert it, alert it.
23:51On the high set.
23:54Preseason game number one is coming fast.
23:57And though he won't suit up.
23:59I want house.
24:00Josh Allen is making sure his teammates have the details down.
24:03More speed, more vertical, really tell that fade.
24:07He's right there. You got to be there for me, all right?
24:12All right.
24:13Did you go inside or outside?
24:14Outside.
24:15Outside.
24:16Gotta go outside.
24:17Use body.
24:18Get big.
24:19Young one. Come on, Zero.
24:20Be big.
24:21Good work, good work.
24:22Great ball, 17.
24:23That a baby.
24:24Great ball, 17.
24:25That a baby.
24:26For most players, it's at least a little downtime after practice.
24:41But for the league MVP, there's always one more thing.
24:44Let's just get a photo real quick.
24:45Yeah, come on.
24:46I'm going to text you over here.
24:47Look at the fan, dude.
24:48They appreciate that, man.
24:49You know what, you're the one.
24:50Yeah, I was hoping.
24:51Big offseason.
24:52Big offseason.
24:53Big offseason.
24:54Yeah.
24:55Big offseason.
24:56Yeah.
24:57Big offseason.
24:58Yeah.
24:59Big offseason.
25:00Yeah.
25:01Big offseason.
25:02Yeah.
25:03Big offseason.
25:04Yeah.
25:05Big offseason.
25:06Big offseason.
25:07Yeah.
25:08Big offseason.
25:09Yeah.
25:10Got married.
25:11Got married.
25:12What do we do for the honeymoon?
25:13Where do we go?
25:14Hawaii.
25:15How was that?
25:16Beautiful.
25:17Yeah?
25:18Yeah.
25:19It was great.
25:20I heard you have like a massive farm, correct?
25:21Massive is maybe an overstatement.
25:23I have 13 acres.
25:24Okay.
25:25I think that's pretty big.
25:26Yeah.
25:27Okay.
25:28Okay.
25:29So massive.
25:30Okay.
25:31Yeah.
25:32To you.
25:33Yeah.
25:34To me.
25:35You go to school.
25:36There's some big farmers though in Central Valley.
25:37Got you.
25:38Is there a fun little drinking story that we could hear from Josh Allen that the public
25:42could hear?
25:43That we could laugh a little bit about?
25:45I actually didn't drink for 11 years.
25:48Then I turned 12.
25:51Taylor's still trying to process that one.
25:56Have you ever got...
25:57I'm kidding.
25:58I'm kidding.
25:59Any future plans to potentially get a cameo?
26:02In?
26:03A movie?
26:04Nothing with the wifey?
26:05No, not at the moment.
26:07I'll never say never to that.
26:09Do you ever pitch yourself for a role to her?
26:12All the time.
26:13Yeah.
26:14Yeah.
26:15We don't read lines, but we'll do like improv, you know?
26:17Just keep it going.
26:18Keep it going.
26:19What's been the best role that you've kind of pitched to her?
26:21Being her husband.
26:28That is nice.
26:30You try it out.
26:42And now I gave a call for a friend.
26:46Get him all the leads.
26:48I was told.
26:49Got you as he said.
26:53Well, he is.
26:54We did good for time coming out.
26:56Training camp is no five-star resort, but it's not all work, either,
27:03especially for Mike White and his fellow quarterbacks.
27:07I was saying, Hud rolled off the bed last night, night two.
27:11Got it on camera, too. It was a nice little soft roll.
27:14That's why we got the trundle.
27:15Did he wake up?
27:16Yeah, he did.
27:17Dude, Millie fell off.
27:18It was like 1230.
27:19We went to Disney, and Millie fell off the bed.
27:21Didn't wake up.
27:22Essential components for a good quarterback room,
27:27guys that mesh well together, that try to help push each other.
27:30Our room does such a great job of celebrating each other
27:32and really pulling for each other.
27:34One on three. One, two, three, win.
27:36Together, MC's more team.
27:38All hail Josh.
27:43It'll be interesting to see how these four quarterbacks perform, right?
27:47Yeah.
27:49The interesting battle's going to be for number two, huh?
27:52Yes.
27:54And we just got to make sure that we give them as equal of reps as we can
27:58to really figure that piece out, right?
28:01All good guys.
28:02That's the overlap.
28:04They're all good guys.
28:06Help our culture.
28:07Who can lead us?
28:08I'm excited to watch that.
28:11Backup quarterback.
28:12An unsung position for the most part.
28:15But when you need one, it's crucial to have a good one.
28:19The Bills believe they have three good options.
28:23Mike's spinning it really well right now.
28:25Extremely smart.
28:26I think the mental game is coming to him really well right now.
28:30Mitch is a guy that's played a lot of football.
28:32And he's seen a lot and has a lot of experiences that he can draw back on.
28:36Shane, just very high IQ when it comes to the game.
28:40Been in different systems.
28:41Been around a lot of great quarterbacks as well.
28:43I'd let you get set.
28:43But I would say when you get set, just don't even worry about, like, switching it.
28:46Yeah.
28:47It's just so, because we have another...
28:48We want the best for each other.
28:49And at the end of the day, the competition is competition.
28:52And you want the best man to win.
28:54You want everybody playing to the best ability that they can.
28:57There we go.
28:58Get around.
28:59Nice.
29:02In Saturday's game, Mike White and Mitchell Trubisky will get the bulk of the reps.
29:07Between them, they've logged 15 NFL seasons.
29:11Mitch, start it off.
29:13They know what's at stake.
29:15Mitch is a super athlete.
29:17He's got a great arm, can throw in all conditions, has won a lot of games.
29:21It's not big for him from that standpoint.
29:24Good ball.
29:25We've played against Mike.
29:30We know what it's like.
29:32This guy, he can stand in that pocket, and he can slice you up.
29:37Good ball.
29:39Mike has one of the livest arms I've been around.
29:42Hell yeah, baby!
29:44Mike, that is perfect.
29:45That is perfect.
29:46Good job, Mike.
29:47Good job, Mike.
29:48Mitch Trubisky's played a lot of football.
29:49He was a franchise quarterback at one point, and he's played in a lot of big games.
29:52He's played in the playoffs.
29:53That is great QB play by you.
29:55Right?
29:56I love you taking control.
29:57You rolling with it, getting them right.
29:58That's fucking awesome by you, man.
30:00What?
30:00Touchdown.
30:04Touchdown.
30:04That's a good ball, 14.
30:05That's a touchdown.
30:07You make a decision, you roll.
30:08I love it.
30:09Take control.
30:09Take control.
30:09That is so good, Qs.
30:18That is so fucking good, man.
30:20Hey, that's a great set right there.
30:21That's a great rack.
30:22That's a great rack.
30:23Great rack.
30:24Most things on a football field aren't a matter of life and death, but not today.
30:31DeMar Hamlin's foundation knows the importance of CPR.
30:34So does Terry Pagula.
30:37My daughter saved my wife's life with CPR, but we ran by an AED in our closet in our home
30:47three times and didn't know it was there.
30:50So not only is it important to have an AED and know how to use it, but you got to know
30:57where to find it, too.
30:59And we failed in that respect.
31:02You had yours at the best place you could.
31:05The best place on the football field.
31:07Everybody knew what they were doing.
31:09Everybody's in place.
31:09They practice what to do.
31:13My foundation is after the leading cause of death in youth sports.
31:19You guys seen what happened to me on the field?
31:22DeMar Hamlin has been down for over nine minutes.
31:26Going back to that day, that was something that it's hard to forget.
31:32Just the feelings, the emotions that we had as a team, you know, being out on the field
31:37and seeing and hearing the things that we did, it'll never, never leave you.
31:44You can just see the worried looks on their faces.
31:48Several players are down on their knees.
31:50Other players are holding hands.
31:52Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field.
31:57We're talking about life and death here.
31:59This is uncharted water really for everyone.
32:01To be able to be out here and to put on events like this today where we're teaching people CPR
32:06and we're teaching people how to use AEDs and giving away AEDs.
32:10The last few years of my life has, like, truly been chaotic.
32:14Being pulled a thousand and one different ways.
32:17To have a life of impact, I need to be three things, a fighter, a finisher, and faithful.
32:23I'm in the process of writing my book right now, which will be my method of getting over adversity and being resilient.
32:32I want to add the devotional component to my book, some of my favorite quotes.
32:36It's hard to fight, it's hard to finish, and it's hard to keep the faith.
32:40First thing I do when I wake up is I just send up a quick prayer.
32:47Then I get into my devotionals, and then I just take a few minutes, take a couple deep breaths.
32:54Because I just remember being in the hospital, and I remember being able to not take a deep breath.
33:03He lost his pulse on the field, had immediate bystander CPR.
33:07He did have defibrillation and then returned to spontaneous circulation.
33:10He is in critical condition.
33:17I just think about my mama.
33:21I just hear my mama's voice really just telling me to, like, you know, slow things down,
33:27because she know her son always on the move.
33:31Like, my brain always going 90.
33:40Thank you for choosing me for the journey that's never been traveled.
33:44Please allow your light to shine on me.
34:07Oh!
34:07Thank you, God, for Focus, for Fellowship, for Brotherhood, for Teammates,
34:32for all the amazing, all the amazing things you get from this game, Lord God.
34:39We know this game is hard.
34:42This shit is hard, but you bring us a lot of amazing things from this game,
34:47and I'm just thankful to still be here.
34:53Thank you, God.
34:56You bring us so many good things from this game, Lord God.
34:59I appreciate you, I appreciate the opportunity, thank you, God.
35:03Thank you, Lord.
35:04Thank you, Lord.
35:05Thank you, Lord.
35:07Thank you for brothers, thank you for family, thank you for great coaches.
35:11Thank you for leadership, thank you for direction.
35:13Thank you for process.
35:21Amen.
35:21The first preseason game is just two days away.
35:42Time to say thanks and goodbye to St. John Fisher
35:45and head for the comforts of home.
35:57My grandma be so mad the way I'm doing this.
36:00Whatever's not in the bag getting lit.
36:02I don't think I'm going to be able to fold it as well as my lovely wife, but don't let her see this.
36:12It's going in the laundry anyway.
36:14I mean, she's not going to like that, but we're going with it.
36:17Got to make some old trips.
36:19Camp's always fun.
36:20You're focused solely on football for two and a half weeks,
36:25hanging out with the guys every chance you get.
36:28But towards the end of camp, everyone's like,
36:31all right, I'm ready to get back to my own bed, to my own routine.
36:36We're still in that camp mentality, just going back to Buffalo.
36:39Hi.
36:41One trip only.
36:44Damn.
36:45How am I going to get this in the whip?
36:48That's the thing we're going to have to figure out right here.
36:50Okay, Pete, might need you.
36:57Bye-bye, St. John Fisher.
36:59How'd he go?
37:10There's something comforting in seeing old friends,
37:14especially if they happen to have Hall of Fame credentials.
37:18Nice to see you.
37:18Have a seat.
37:19You know, I always love coming back here.
37:22Yeah.
37:23Anxious to see what Dart does for the other team.
37:27Fortunately, we don't have any problems at quarterbacks.
37:31Yeah.
37:32Yeah, we're not trying to figure out who number one is.
37:35No.
37:37No.
37:37Tonight, Bill's owner, Terry Pagula, is throwing a little shindig.
37:43Everybody who's anybody is there.
37:45This is an opportunity for us to kind of give our expertise, you know, what we've been through
37:49to these guys, whether they're veterans or rookies.
37:52Have you ever seen a camp like that before with that kind of energy, the fans, how close they are, the engagement?
37:57I've seen things similar, but not like that.
37:59Not that energy, not that optimism, the togetherness.
38:03You know, you get that feeling that there's something special.
38:06Talking to Josh, how he, like, when he talked about it, like, it was motivation.
38:11Like, he was ready to go.
38:12He felt good about what he had in front of him.
38:15Like, his team, like, I was like, there's nothing else to talk about.
38:18Like, when your quarterback, your best player, feels good about what he has around him?
38:24Puzzle call.
38:26Does everybody have a glass of champagne for a quick toast?
38:32To our partnership, our new partnership, and to a successful season.
38:38Go Bills!
38:39Go Bills!
38:39Go Bills!
38:40Go Bills!
38:43So we are in the village of Lancaster.
38:45This is where I grew up.
38:46Quite the crowd you got here, huh?
38:49I guess so, I guess so.
38:50During the summer, it was a big part of my childhood.
38:53Fourth of July is always great here.
38:55Everyone kind of comes to the village and gathers here.
38:57How are you?
38:58Good, good, nice to see you.
39:02Ready to go for Saturday?
39:04Yeah, it doesn't even feel like we have a game, though.
39:06You know, we just, like, kind of roll right into it.
39:08But, yeah, I mean, I'm ready.
39:09I'm looking forward to it.
39:12And this is me and JD at St. John Fisher Camp when we were little.
39:15That's us with the keel, right?
39:17Yeah, it's the keel spikes there.
39:19And you were, so you were trying to get his autograph.
39:23You wanted his autograph so bad on this jersey.
39:26And Dad was trying to hoist you through the crowd to get the autograph.
39:30And you were so disappointed.
39:33And he, all of a sudden, we're walking away.
39:35And we see him walking away.
39:38And you scream out to him, Mr. Spikes, Mr. Spikes.
39:42And he stopped dead in his tracks and turned around and said, I have to stop for that voice.
39:48And he turned around.
39:49And both of you went running to him.
39:51And you walked away with him.
39:52Doing the kids' autographs at camp especially or wherever is definitely cool.
39:56And see their eyes light up.
39:57And I'm sure I was the same way.
39:59So it's definitely cool.
40:00Absolutely.
40:04It's game day.
40:06The only home game the Bills will have this preseason.
40:10The Bills Mafia makes no bones about their passion.
40:13And if you don't like it, they'll let you know.
40:18Enough said.
40:23Tailgating.
40:24Honestly, everyone just makes it the most rowdy, fun time that you can have.
40:33My husband drank my friend's breast milk at a tailgate.
40:37So that was a little weird.
40:40My favorite Bills player is Josh Allen.
40:44Oh, we love him.
40:47He is, he's cute, first of all.
40:52The house needed a paint job anyways.
40:55And my neighbor moved in.
40:57And he put up the Jets flag.
41:00And I said, it's home.
41:01This is the last year at the Ralph.
41:03We got to bring a Super Bowl home for that guy.
41:06I mean, honestly, I don't want to get emotional.
41:07But I think about it constantly.
41:10It would mean everything.
41:12Let's go!
41:1330 years you've been dragging your feet.
41:17Telling me I'm the reason we're stagnant.
41:20Buffalo's got to win!
41:2230 years you've been claiming your honesty.
41:25Promising progress.
41:26Well, where is it at?
41:28I don't want you to feel like a failure.
41:32Gotta have the one side.
41:33I know these humps.
41:35We're going to get right back up.
41:36But I gave you your chance to deliver.
41:39Another Super Bowl loss.
41:40Now it's my turn.
41:43Don't get me wrong.
41:46He's living the dream.
41:47Local legend.
41:47Nature had the great one.
41:49Unbelievable.
41:49But it's time to give the people something different.
41:56A new stadium.
41:58So without further ado, I...
42:00We're finally winning, bro.
42:01I like to introduce my...
42:04Hope.
42:06What's my definition of success?
42:10Listening to what your heart says.
42:12Four quarters of fucking football.
42:14Standing up for what you know is.
42:15Right where everybody else is.
42:17Talking there till between their legs.
42:19What's my definition of success?
42:22Trying to save your brothers.
42:24Bring you on.
42:25Talk to them.
42:25Turn people up.
42:26Let your energy flow.
42:27Being brave enough to dream, babe, babe.
42:30Gratting when you're told to just quit, quit.
42:32Living more and you got nothing left, that's amazing.
42:34A little bit of faith can't do.
42:36Let's go.
42:37Look at these shoes he's got, man.
42:39How do we get a pair?
42:41They look good.
42:42They look good, man.
42:45That's New York City.
42:46That's not Western New York.
42:48Have fun with this shit, bro.
42:50One in a lifetime opportunity, bro.
42:51What's for you will always be for you, bro.
42:54Just know that.
42:54Hope.
42:58I'm on my way.
43:01I'm coming.
43:03Don't.
43:06Don't lose faith in me.
43:10I know you've been waiting.
43:12Oh, the wave is coming.
43:23Oh, Shauna.
43:27Oh, here it comes.
43:28You guys are ready?
43:28Here it comes, here.
43:29You guys are ready.
43:31I know you're ready.
43:31I want all this this thing.
43:35Play your game, bro.
43:36It's just shit like practice.
43:37Let this shit come to you.
43:38Keys, keys, keys.
43:39Fuck everything else.
43:39Keys.
43:40Play's going to come.
43:42You're going to make plays from doing your job.
43:44Here we go, D.
43:44Challenge them.
43:45Get up in their face, man.
43:46Here we go.
43:46Here we go.
43:46Here we go.
43:47Come on.
43:48Get up in their face.
43:50Here we go.
43:50Here we go.
43:50Here we go.
43:51Here we go.
43:51Here we go.
43:52Good hit, baby.
44:03Good hit.
44:06DeMar Hamlin and the defense look sharp and focused.
44:11All right.
44:12Here we go.
44:12There we go.
44:13Looking alive, people.
44:14Joe Andreessen obviously a great story from last year's training camp.
44:26And now look at him.
44:26He's an NFL veteran playing out there with the ones.
44:31On third and eight, Wilson gets rid of it to Tracy who slips a tackle.
44:35And the ball comes out late.
44:38Joe Andreessen going to the sideline trying to pick it up.
44:41And they're saying that it is going to be fourth down.
44:46The ball came out after the play was blown dead.
44:52I guess he was down.
44:53So I guess that shit don't count.
44:57Buffalo Joe looks right at home.
45:04Looking down the right sideline.
45:06Pass batted out of the air.
45:07Intercepted by Joe Andreessen.
45:09You know, they say he trapped it.
45:14And I thought Andreessen had it, but they said the belly of the football hit the ground.
45:19They called it incomplete.
45:20What?
45:21Joe's reaction kind of showed it, too, because he wasn't touched and he didn't get up right away.
45:26I mean, it's just barely not an interception.
45:31Oh, Joe.
45:33Got to catch that, bro.
45:35The quarterback competition will be interesting with Mitchell Trubisky and Mike White competing to be the backup for Josh Allen.
45:43One-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight!
45:46And off going to roll out to his right.
45:48Looking downfield, he's got Palmer and hits him at the 38-yard line.
45:51One-eight-eight-eight-eight!
45:53Well, that drive looked awfully easy as the Bills march right down the field and Dawson Knox caps it on a pass from Mitch Trubisky.
46:14One-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-hail-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight-eight.
46:27Great.
46:30And Ray Davis, who's the running back, an emergency kicker, getting a chance here.
46:36Oh, my God.
46:37Ray Davis.
46:37Ray Davis is doing this.
46:39Yes!
46:39Come on!
46:40Go, Ray!
46:41Yes, Ray!
46:42Snap is down, hold is up, kick is up, and it is good!
46:47Ray Davis, your emergency kicker.
46:50That's so cool.
46:52Yeah, I was like, fuck it, if we get this bitch off,
46:55let's get it off.
46:56That was good. It sounded good from down there.
46:58I knew it was in right away. I didn't have to look up.
47:00I was like, I can't fuck up the celebration now.
47:03That's right.
47:05Hey, hey, it's a great catch, baby.
47:07Wide open. I was like, just get it to him.
47:09Just get it to him.
47:10Hey, he calls a penalty.
47:13Ryan called it, and then you called it off.
47:16I thought he pushed him around the quarterback.
47:18I thought it was a push.
47:20I didn't see a pull. I didn't see...
47:22Hey, I'm messing with you. Get out of here, man.
47:25Alright, so they are going to be aggressive.
47:2715 seconds.
47:28Maybe they're trying to get in field goal range.
47:32Back to pass.
47:34Steps up in the pocket.
47:36Looking deep down the middle of the field for Shavers.
47:38Got him at the 21.
47:40And he's tackled at the 6-yard line.
47:42And a timeout is called by Buffalo,
47:44as they've got a scoring opportunity.
47:47I don't know how you let him get behind the defense,
47:49with only 15 seconds left in the half.
47:52I don't think Mitch has played well.
48:0224-yard attempt.
48:03Kick by Davis is up.
48:05And it is good.
48:07Let's have some fun, boys.
48:11Let's have some fun.
48:13Love you, bud.
48:14Love you, too. Let's go to work.
48:15Let it rip.
48:16Come on, man.
48:17Let it rip, man.
48:18Let's go.
48:19Love you, man.
48:20Love you.
48:21We're good. Here we go.
48:23Sometimes, love hurts.
48:25What's up?
48:26Mike White and the offense get off to a bumpy start in the second half.
48:33Let's go. Let's go.
48:35Not good enough. Let's go.
48:37Pop it off. Let me pop off his Z.
48:39Huh?
48:40Let me pop off his Z then.
48:41Take that right.
48:42Y'all play.
48:43I can't be cold all day, guys.
48:45Shit.
48:46I'm itching. I'm fiending right now.
48:47Know what I'm saying?
48:48I'm itching right now.
48:50This is go for it territory.
48:52Bill's now 0 for 6 on 3rd down today.
48:55Looking at a 4th down and 4.
48:57Going for it on 4th down is the sign of a confident offense.
49:02Hey, go 48. Go 48, Dan. Here we go.
49:05Let me dial something up here, boys.
49:08White 80. What's up?
49:12White rolling right.
49:14He's got a wide open man deep.
49:16And it's caught for a touchdown.
49:19K.J. Hamler.
49:21One.
49:26Good job. Good job, though.
49:29So easy for Hamler like riding a kid's scooter.
49:33K.J.
49:37Come on.
49:38Let's go.
49:40A 39-yard touchdown on 4th down.
49:43White to Hamler.
49:44I ain't touched that bitch for so long.
49:46What did you say?
49:47You coming to get somebody's spot out there.
49:48Hey, K.J.
49:49Come on.
49:50Man, fuck that.
49:51You know what I'm here to do.
49:52You know what I'm here to do.
49:54I see that shit.
49:55I say, oh, shit.
49:56Oh, shit.
49:57Oh, shit.
50:00Oh, shit.
50:01Oh, shit.
50:02Oh, shit.
50:03Oh, shit.
50:04Oh.
50:06What's that?
50:07They blow on the cover?
50:08They like blitzed everybody.
50:10Was it a no-doubter once you released it?
50:12It was like, come on, get there, get there, get there.
50:15Nah.
50:16Okay.
50:17Right now the three big things are complementary football, smart football, not beating ourselves, making plays, who's making plays.
50:31Let's go, let's go. You can do it, let's go.
50:39White over the middle, he's got a wide open look.
50:42Mike White showing what he can do.
50:44There we go, Borsch.
50:45Second down and three, White, Evans, Evans, touchdown.
50:50Yeah, play two, two, two, two.
50:53White, what's up?
50:56Get that LB.
50:57White looking for Snortz, and he's got it.
51:00Right there.
51:05Boom, boom, boom.
51:09A little bit of a slow start from Mike, but a good job after him.
51:12Yeah.
51:12Big Mike just set him down, he's chilling.
51:18Here's what I personally like best out of all this.
51:22I like the fact that Mike White has got a great arm.
51:27I like the fact that Frank Gore Jr., he showed up.
51:30Frank Gore's father is number three all-time in NFL rushing yards.
51:37With James Cook out, Gore Jr. has a chance to make a name for himself.
51:41There's a name, Frank Gore Jr., running for 11 yards in a Buffalo first down.
51:46Hey, what, Frank?
51:47He hits it like his old man, north and south.
51:51I love it.
51:53Yeah, Frank!
51:54Yeah, Frank!
51:55Yeah, Frank!
51:58Showing up, man.
52:00Hey, boy!
52:02Frank Gore's having a day today.
52:04Yeah, Frankie!
52:06Buchel over the middle of Gore Jr.
52:10Makes a nice cut, slips his way inside the 10.
52:14Frank Gore, that guy is, he's good.
52:17He is good.
52:18I love him.
52:20Gore has done it all, except find the end zone.
52:24He has one last play to try.
52:26Fourth and goal at the one.
52:28With 39 seconds to go.
52:30If they're unable to punch it in here, it's going to be game over.
52:34And out of the backfield, Frank Gore, did he get to the end zone?
52:39I am afraid his knee might be down before the ball broke the plane of the end zone.
52:45Giants are going to emerge with a victory over the Bills.
52:50Hey, you're not that tall.
52:51Stop telling people that you're 6'5".
52:53I don't tell anybody, it's the screen.
52:54Stop telling people you're 6'5".
52:55I don't lie.
52:56Good job, we're the ball.
52:59Fans have the luxury of dreams.
53:02Teams don't.
53:03They have goals.
53:05The only way to reach them is through hard work.
53:08Oh, well, some good things, some things to work on.
53:12We can take a lot.
53:13We need to take a lot from this game.
53:15We didn't play our standard for football and our level of football.
53:18We didn't start the game fast enough or the second half fast enough.
53:21We'll learn a lot from it when we go back and look at the film.
53:24Take care of yourselves tonight.
53:25You're ready to go tomorrow.
53:27All right.
53:27You're ready to go tomorrow.
53:27You're ready to go tomorrow.
53:28It's tempting to say that when the story of the 2025 Bills is finally written, today's game won't mean much.
53:35But the truth is, every day matters because every day presents its own challenges, its own opportunities to grow, to get a story with a happy ending.
