Low cloud across southern parts of England and Wales will slowly break up as we move through the morning and into the afternoon, with this cloud lingering for longer in Wales. Meanwhile, eastern and northern parts of Scotland will see scattered showers developing. Outside of these regions, a dry day for most, although a flurry of showers will arrive in the southeast by early afternoon. Feeling hot in parts of eastern and central England, although further south and in the far north temperatures will be cooler. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 13/08/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Clare Nasir.
00:00Hello there, welcome to a Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04The heat wave continues across the country through today with some strong sunshine.
00:09Let me take you through the bigger picture.
00:11The heat is even more intense across Spain as well as France.
00:15We're inheriting some of that heat as it extends northwards yet again through today.
00:21Chance of some showers, particularly into Thursday, they could become impactful across Scotland but slow moving.
00:27Many areas dry though and yet again some sunshine and offers as we head into Friday.
00:33Although there could be a bit more clouds just moving in across more northern and western areas.
00:38Through this morning then you can see where these showers are for Orkney, southern parts of Shetland,
00:42Cate Ness, Sutherland, the Western Isles and a few just skirting Aberdeenshire down towards borders.
00:48Northern Ireland's having a fine morning with some sunshine but notice this low cloud just lurking across the Irish Sea
00:55affecting West Wales as well as the West Country, central southern parts of England.
00:59This is where we're seeing cloudier skies this morning and this low cloud could migrate towards the shoreline of the northeastern part of Northern Ireland.
01:07But it's fine for the bulk of the country with sunny spells and warm after a fairly uncomfortable night.
01:12It was muggy last night.
01:14So through this morning we watch as this cloud breaks across more southern and western areas.
01:20A little bit of low cloud just skirting the far southwest of Scotland, the northeast of Northern Ireland but a fine day here.
01:27And these showers fairly scattered continue their passage northwards.
01:30So a dry day for most but later a little more cloud and perhaps one or two showers just moving in across central southern England as well as the southeast.
01:38Now here are your temperatures through the afternoon.
01:41The most intense heat has now migrated eastward.
01:45So this is where we're likely to see the highest temperatures across eastern counties.
01:49At the same time places such as East Wales still seeing temperatures nudge into the 30s as well as the Midlands.
01:56For Scotland it's the central belt where you'll see values around 27 degrees Celsius even the west in shelter.
02:02And for Northern Ireland 24 or 25.
02:05For the bulk of Wales we're looking at values probably the mid-20s, a similar situation down towards the west country, central southern England 23 to 25 Celsius.
02:14So where we see temperatures above around 25 degrees Celsius over three days for most of the country that's a heat wave.
02:21Obviously that threshold does increase the closer you get to the home counties but even so heat wave continues through today and into tomorrow across many areas.
02:30Those showers will skirt the eastern side as we head into the early hours of Thursday morning.
02:36Another cluster will blossom across the central belt of Scotland and move northwards and some lurking across Irish seacoast.
02:43So into Thursday yes you could see a bit more cloud here but also the risk of a few scattered showers which could turn heavy across some parts of Scotland.
02:51The distribution is still slightly uncertain but certainly there could be some heavier downpours through Thursday morning.
02:58We hang on to some brighter weather across eastern counties but this cloud is rolling eastwards as it breaks up as that sun really gets to work.
03:05And so most seeing some fine weather, some bright conditions if not some blue sky and sunshine.
03:11And here are your temperatures through Thursday yet again the high 20s for much of England as well as east Wales.
03:18Generally speaking the low to mid 20s further west there so very warm and hot towards eastern parts.
03:25So here's your outlook through Friday yet again a chance of one or two showers.
03:30More clouds across more northern and western areas but blue sky and sunshine further south and east and temperatures yet again creeping into the 30s.
