A wet start for much of England and Wales, as a band of rain moves its way eastwards clearing the east coast of England by mid morning. Plenty of showers will follow, especially across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern areas of England. Drier and brighter in central and southern England, with these parts seeing less showers. With lighter winds, it will feel warm and pleasant in any sunshine. Feeling fresher however across the far north of Scotland - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 06/06/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Honor Criswick.

00:00Hello there, good morning. Now this week is technically the first week of meteorological
00:04summer, but for many it's not really felt like it. We've seen plenty of rain, plenty
00:09of showers, and this morning is no exception. It's set to be quite a wet start, particularly
00:13across parts of Lancashire, Cheshire, elsewhere across England and Wales, as we see this band
00:18of rain slowly shift its way eastwards, this turning quite heavy and blustery at times.
00:23Now differently to yesterday, that rain will clear fairly quickly, but still once again
00:27there's going to be plenty of showers following on behind, particularly across Scotland, Northern
00:31Ireland and northern parts of England. Some brighter, sunny spells in between, but it's
00:36likely we'll see the best of the brightness across central and southern England. Fewer
00:40showers here, more in the way of sunshine, and lighter winds, temperatures a degree or
00:45two up from yesterday, so feeling warm and pleasant in any sunshine, but still that fresher
00:50feel across the far north. Into the evening, showers will ease away for a time, but we'll
00:57see a return of the rain, more clouds and spells of quite heavy rain at times drifting in as
01:02we head our way towards dawn. So once again a very wet start across Northern Ireland, northern
01:07parts of England and Wales too, turning quite heavy and blustery, particularly across the
01:12far south where there's a chance of gales as we head into Saturday. Drier across the far
01:17northeast of Scotland, so temperatures dipping away a bit more here, but elsewhere a fairly mild
01:22start to the day. But the start of the weekend is going to be unsettled. Heavy downpours at
01:29times, and one we need to keep an eye on, there is a chance of some quite thundery heavy downpours
01:33too, particularly as we head our way into the afternoon across the south. Keep an eye on our
01:37social media channels and across our website just in case we see any warnings issued for
01:42those. But nevertheless, it is set to be unsettled. Spells of rain, some heavy showers and temperatures
01:47a degree or two down, particularly across central and southern parts, but any sunny spells obviously
01:52being offset by the frequent showers. Now for the rest of the weekend, yes we'll eventually say
01:59goodbye to any showers as low pressure drifts its way once again back into the North Sea. Sunday is
02:04set to be the better day of the weekend, more dry weather, more sunny spells. But notice behind me
02:10areas of low pressure waiting in the wings, being picked up by almost a conveyor belt of the jet stream
02:16waiting to push in as we head into next week. But of course for more information on that, don't forget
02:21to subscribe to our YouTube channel. Bye bye.
