00:00It's pretty much like a magnet, and it has the sensors right here, and it has some more sensors there, and you just snap it on.
00:20Farm workers are 35 times more likely to have a heat-related death, followed by construction workers who are 13 times.
00:28And so these are the two sectors that have the highest heat-related mortality.
00:35We worked with farm workers' communities to come up with this device.
00:39I mean, they were very interested in having something that could protect them, because they understand how dangerous it is to work outdoors in the heat.
00:47And they have been very receptive to it. They've tried it. We've tried it on 168 farm workers.
00:53So they're ready to use technology and also to have AI help them.
00:58What it does, it monitors basically some of your vital signs, and it's taking all of that information.
01:04You just put it on your chest, and all of that data is coming into this device.
01:08And eventually, what our computer science team is going to do is use that data to train AI,
01:14so that we are able to recognize someone who is heading into the danger zone before they collapse from heat stress,
01:22and send them an alert in real time to let them know, you know, it's time to take a break, to hydrate, to cool down.
01:29So right now, our computer science team has all of the data, and they are training AI to be able to recognize when someone is having a heat-related illness.
01:40And so the goal is that, hopefully, we'll be able to deploy these biopatch devices on workers and have them start getting alerts in real time when they are in the danger zone.
01:59So, we'll see you then.
02:09We'll see you soon.
