00:17attention to the animal's plight after posting footage on his TikTok account,
00:21showing several severely underweight cats at the dilapidated structure.
00:30Shafiq said some of the cats bit his hand when he approached them, possibly after being deprived
00:35of adequate food and clean water for an extended period. Unable to rescue them alone as he was
00:41traveling by inflatable boat, Shafiq shared the footage online in the hope of getting help.

00:51stranded cats. In a follow-up TikTok post, user at Uyina underscore said 10 cats had been rescued
00:58and placed in her care. However, an estimated 5 to 8 cats are believed to remain at the site,
01:05having become wary of humans. Several cats were also found dead and are expected to be buried,
01:11while those rescued were suffering from severe malnutrition and require urgent veterinary
01:16treatment. Thread's user Furbies estimated that between 6,000 ringgit and 7,000 ringgit would be
01:22needed to cover the cats' immediate medical expenses. Rescuers are now racing against time to bring
01:28the remaining cats to safety.
