00:00Well this morning we're at Wentzfield Park here in Wolverhampton. It's our 10th anniversary of our junior park run.
00:08Yes we have been going for 10 years here in the park. It's an event that was started by myself and another lovely lady called Liz Lister.
00:16And we wanted to have a kids event where the kids could come out, run, walk, skip, hop, jump, we don't mind.
00:24Just enjoy themselves and get active. We had another park run in the city of Wolverhampton Park Run that was for adults.
00:31There's another one at East Park as well but we wanted something for the children and this is something that we were really passionate about setting up.
00:39It happens because of volunteers every single week. Rain, sun, shine. Doesn't matter what the weather is as long as it's safe underfoot we will be here and all the children are welcome to come along.
00:50It's a free event. We don't expect anybody to pay anybody for anything. Just give us a bit of your time if you can to help us volunteer and keep the event going.
00:59Wonderful. And did you think 10 years late you'd still be doing this?
01:01Oh absolutely. There's so much energy around park runs, junior park runs and our volunteers are the ones that make this happen as I've said.
01:09And because you have so many willing families, so many willing people, willing to give their time, we have people who are working full time, people part time, we have students, we have young people, we have all sorts of people that come and enjoy our park runs, bring their kids, bring their grandkids and bring themselves to actually make it happen.
01:27So here's to another 10 years if not longer.
01:29Absolutely. We're here to stay. So thank you. And I have to say some thank yous to City of Wolverhampton Council for helping us to set up and to the local businesses.
01:39We've had Wolves who have supported us for years, Wolverhampton and Bilston running clubs and a number of other running clubs in and around the city.
01:46So thank you all for your support. Thank you to our amazing volunteers.
01:50And I cannot not say thank you to my brilliant co-event director, Rob Carrington, who's here today as well.
