Burnley FC writer Matt Scrafton delivers his verdict on the 1-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Lazio.
Transcript
00:00Just making my way up Turf Moor where Burnley have finished their pre-season preparations with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Serie A side Lazio.
00:09A really good game actually, I enjoyed it. Good turnout here at Turf Moor, good following here as well in the way in from the Lazio fans.
00:17Despite the narrow defeat, lots to be encouraged about from Scott Parker. I'll be interested to get his thoughts now after the game.
00:24Got a real test for them after the penalty likes of Stoke and Huddersfield and Shrewsby.
00:30This felt a lot more similar to what they're going to face in the Premier League starting next week at Tottenham and beyond.
00:36Looked really comfortable out of possession, which shouldn't really be a massive surprise given how strong they were defensively last season.
00:43And then on the ball, in their three at the back, which is the first time we've seen that publicly this summer, really fluid.
00:50Always seemed to be an extra option. They played the ball from back to front really well.
00:55So yeah, lots of good individual performances too. So yeah, despite the defeat which doesn't really matter in pre-season,
01:02I'm sure Parker will be very happy with how his side got on today.
01:06No.
01:07It's fine.
01:08It's fine.
01:09Well, it's fine.
01:10I'll remind you of the most a little bit.
01:11I hope you'll find out this time in the future.
01:14I'll be right back.
