00:00Andy Vasquez from NJ.com has the very latest on the Jets what we can expect potentially as the
00:06season begins Andy thank you so much for spending a few minutes with me here on the show really
00:10appreciate it let's dive right in the Jets are I think it's fair to say in like a transitional
00:16type period maybe they're better than people expect they could end up being worse we really
00:20don't know but that's kind of the deal going into the season they added a few players most notably
00:26in Justin Fields and said goodbye to a lot of players that could end up being in the Hall of
00:30Fame one day as well tell me what I missed no I think I think you've got it right the talent level
00:36is definitely not as good as it was a year ago but I do think they're better coach they're better
00:43organized Aaron Glenn is a guy who has a long career of experience and that gives him credibility with
00:51the players and he was a good player so I think you know a lot of the guys have bought in we've seen
00:56this thing where they've kind of been criticizing the previous coaching staff and I don't think it's
01:01really intentional it's just they've been talking about accountability and clear communication the
01:06expectations that Glenn has set and I think that does give them a higher ceiling because as we saw
01:11last year talent does not equal wins in this league necessarily no definitely does not especially when
01:17the most talented player you have on your team is what is an older player and until the second half
01:22of the season got underway it didn't seem like Aaron Rodgers had anything left to me although I
01:26did play well in Miami I saw that game I was there at that okay so Aaron Glenn says that a lot of the
01:32starters are going to play on Saturday night and look this is something that is unusual in this day
01:40and age of the NFL just simply because a lot of coaches are afraid of having their players hurt and
01:45generally with this new format going from four preseason games to three we usually just see
01:49everybody in game number two why do you think Glenn is doing this is anything you know behind this
01:54well I think it just goes back to what he's been doing throughout training camp which is
01:59tackling I've seen more tackling in the last two weeks than I've seen in my first nine training camps
02:05covering the Jets so as Sauce Gardner said yesterday if that's the strategy and practice why would he not
02:11have us out there tackling during the games they're already kind of embracing this injury risk that
02:17that comes with this and they have been banged up obviously the calculus changes a lot if you suffer
02:22a significant or season-ending injury in a setting like tomorrow night in Green Bay but it's pretty
02:29consistent with what he's doing and I think it's kind of about setting his tone and also you know there's
02:35been this belief that you can get ready for the season without tackling properly and I know
02:40watching the Jets try to tackle early in the season it hasn't been you know reality and I think
02:46you know Aaron Glenn believes they have to you know tackle multiple times before they get to the season
02:52if they're going to be at their best to start the season
