00:00Liverpool head into the new Premier League season with a squad shaped by smart, decisive transfer business.
00:08And under Arnie Schlott, the expectation is that the newcomers will make an immediate impact.
00:14Schlott's first summer at Anfield has been defined by targeted marquee signings rather than wholesale change.
00:21Each arrival has been brought in with a specific role in mind, complementing the high-tempo possession-based system.
00:28The Dutchman wants to continue.
00:31The focus has been on players who can slot straight into the starting XI and deliver from day one.
00:38For further insight into how Liverpool's transfer work sets them up for the season ahead,
00:43we spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World, who believes the new faces are ready to hit the ground running
00:49and get the title defence off to a fine start.
00:53Yeah, do you feel just it's a bit of a match made in heaven with Arnie Schlott's hard-working side
01:00because he's made, you know, he's up there with the top recovery stats across Europe as well.
01:05So, you know, and the ground covered as well, I believe, in terms of attacking output players, attacking positions.
01:11He's covered the most ground in Europe last season, you know, in terms of miles per game, which is quite, you know, astonishing.
01:19So, do you feel they might have looked at that and thought, yeah, with Arnie Schlott's side
01:23and the way he wants to work, you know, his players to work hard, relentlessly, you know, off the ball as well,
01:28that it's just going to be a match made in heaven?
01:30Or do you feel there could also be a little bit of risk with this signing?
01:33And, you know, we've seen players come over from the Bundesliga, the likes of, you know, Kai Havertz was incredibly, you know, touted to be an incredible player
01:41and he hasn't quite hit those heights in Germany that he did.
01:44Do you feel that there could be a bit of an element of risk as well in there?
01:47What's your thoughts on the signing?
01:50Yeah, another one that people know well is Naby Keita, who he paid a lot of money for and it didn't work out from the Bundesliga.
01:58But, as you say, Arnie Schlott wouldn't be signing this player if he didn't think, not only is he going to have, you know,
02:04a fantastic attack and output, I think 57 goals and 64 assists in nearly 200 games for Leverkusen,
02:13but he will do his fair share off the ball and he's quite clearly got both sides to his game.
02:21One's not compromised.
02:23It's clearly that him putting a shift in off the ball is an effect and going forward.
02:30So that'll be a key one that Arnie Schlott's look for when he's bringing him flowing where it's because, as you say,
02:38you can't get by with luxury players anymore in football.
02:41I think those are the things that have passed.
02:43I mean, maybe if he's a god sayer of Ryan Shearkey from Lyon,
02:48maybe he might be a little bit more attack and maybe want to stay a little bit further forward.
02:53And I think he can maybe forward that with one or two players.
02:56Obviously, his striker may be another attacker, but you can't with everyone.
02:59And if you're going to play a striker, say, Liverpool, do go and get one.
03:04And you've got Mo Salah up there than you need your other players to work hard.
03:08And I think that's what Wirt will do.
03:10And obviously, someone that he's very familiar with, Jeremy Frimpong, you know, being Arnie Schlott's first signing.
03:16Now, him himself has said, you know, massive boost, I feel, in terms of Trent Alexander-Arnold's exit at right back.
03:23And he believes he's up to the case.
03:25He's obviously familiar with English football, being involved with Manchester City as well for all those years.
03:30I mean, it must be pleasing as well for Liverpool fans to get business done early in this window
03:35and really get going because, you know, these are statements of intent in terms of they want to make sure
03:42they're still back at the top, they're competing across all competitions next season
03:45and they're not just going to roll over to the likes of Manchester City
03:48who have already spent, you know, a fair enough as well in the window.
03:53Yeah, and it's funny enough, after the last game of the season, I asked Arnie Schlott if he'd like to get a signing in early.
03:59And he said ideally everyone would, but he just wants good players.
04:02And I think if maybe Liverpool had to wait for a couple of signings, you know,
04:06the likes of, say, Werthes to sign a bit longer or Milos Kierkez, maybe they might have waited.
04:13But Liverpool clearly got a strong pitch.
04:18They don't really need to sell the club, do they?
04:20They've been Premier League champions.
04:22So Liverpool will be looking at that, raising funds, and then maybe they might dip into the transfer market again.
04:29Centre-back will be a priority now if Gerald want to leave.
04:32And even talk about Mark Gehie, can Liverpool get the right price for him?
04:36Did he go and look at other options?
04:38And then maybe a striker as well, depending on what Arnie Schlott fancies.
