00:00Liverpool entered the new Premier League season with fresh optimism as their summer of ambitious
00:08spending is already making an impact at Anfield. Anishlaut's rivals have injected new energy
00:15and versatility into a side that finished strongly last term. The new signings are quickly adapting
00:21to the demands of the Premier League, providing both creativity and depth and giving the squad
00:27more options across key positions. The challenge now will be maintaining momentum while integrating
00:35these players fully into Anishlaut's system. The indications suggest that the additions are not
00:41just squad reinforcements but potential game changers capable of influencing matches from the outset.
00:49For further insight into Liverpool's summer business, we spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World
00:55who believes the recruitment has already started to pay dividends and that the new signings could
01:02play pivotal roles in Schlott's bid to defend the title.
01:08Yeah, let's quickly mention Izak. Obviously, you know, a lot of people do Premier League predictions
01:14and everyone's sort of saying that the echo is that if Liverpool are to confirm
01:18Alexander Izak, one of the best number nines in world football at the moment,
01:22that they are just going to trump that title race again. Obviously, it's not as easy as that.
01:27But you saw sort of the impact and the change that Erling Haaland had on Manchester City's side.
01:33We obviously mentioned before that Liverpool had gone without an out-and-out nine for a couple of years.
01:38Obviously, Nunes tried his work there but ultimately failed in terms of delivering it in the biggest moments.
01:46Izak is a player who does that.
01:47And, I mean, how impressive would it be if they were to get this one over the line?
01:53Yeah, it'd be a massive statement, wouldn't it? Because Liverpool have needs a striker.
01:58But they haven't...
02:02They went on a Hugo Ekotique when it was clear that Newcastle are also interested.
02:07But they haven't ended their interest in Izak.
02:10They're saying, right, we'll have both of them.
02:11Because I think the early signs of Ekotique is that he can also play on the left.
02:17He looks like an intelligent footballer.
02:19Maybe he can mix it up a little bit more.
02:22If Liverpool have gone and got Izak, it'll be a massive statement of intent.
02:26Now, it might come down to Newcastle, whether they can get a replacement in or not.
02:32Because, let's be honest, they've been trying for a striker all summer.
02:36And they haven't been able to get any over the line.
02:39Whether that's Liam De Laap, Joe Pedro, Benjamin Sesko, most recently.
02:44Joran Wissard have struggled.
02:46But I think they must have got Wissard in anyway if Liverpool haven't been interested in Izak.
02:52So they need to go and get another striker.
02:53And then Liverpool are running out of time to get this deal done.
02:59And so on Newcastle.
03:01Paul's suggesting that Alexander Izak says he'd never play for Newcastle again.
03:08Look, I think you can say that.
03:11But when you're on the periphery of things, when you're in the wilderness for a couple of months,
03:17maybe you might change your mind.
03:18Especially if Sweden are going to be on to the World Cup next year.
03:21But it surprised me, the approach that he has taken.
03:30I must admit, from not going on a pre-season tour to going and training in Spain
03:35rather than remaining at Newcastle's training grounds.
03:38And then not being reintegrated with the squadron.
03:42I must admit, from a personal point of view, I don't like it.
03:47I don't think a lot of Liverpool fans will like it.
03:49Look at what happened with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
03:52How he angled for a move to Real Madrid.
03:56But in all fairness to Alexander-Arnold, he always gave his all towards the end.
04:03You know, that goal against Leicester, which was massive to help Liverpool secure the title.
04:09And a slot has got to look at now, from a tactical perspective,
04:12of how can he get this right balance of a real potent force going forwards
04:18to being really solid defensively, like they were last season at Liverpool.
04:22And look, there are some misgaming circumstances.
04:25They didn't have Ryan Graven-Bert against Palace.
04:27They didn't have Alex McAllister start.
04:29And they're probably your best two midfielders.
04:32But there is still work to be done.
04:35I think maybe Arsenal and Man City have looked at that and thinking,
04:39well, we've got a chance here because they might have struggles defensively.
04:43We've got a chance here.
