00:00Hello, again, my name is Jessica Gonzalez, and I'm proud to represent House District
00:04104, which includes parts of Dallas and Grand Prairie.
00:09I'm also honored to be the chair of the Texas House LGBTQ Procus.
00:14Look, when we all got elected here, we were elected by our constituents, and that's who
00:19we were.
00:20They elected us to represent their voices, their family, and their future.
00:24And that's exactly what we're all doing here by denying Texas Republicans quorum in order
00:29to pass these rigged congressional maps.
00:32And so I'm very proud to stand united with my Democrat colleagues.
00:37Look, one thing I do know is that Democrats, Texas House Democrats, know how to fight.
00:40We've been in these fights before.
00:41We've got to fight every single day when we're in regular session.
00:47So we have our sleeves, our sleeves are rolled up, and we're ready to take this fight wherever
00:52it's going to take us, because our communities, our state, and our nation is worth, definitely
00:58worth fighting for.
01:00And we know this is not about providing flood relief, because these congressional maps have
01:05been pushed.
01:05We have not had real discussions about providing folks relief who are in desperate need of
01:10it.
01:10And so we're just not going to stand for it.
01:12We're tired of it, and we're not going to let them do that to our communities.
01:16And so, again, I'm proud to stand here united with my Democratic colleagues.
01:21You know, when I first got elected to House District 104, I was the first Latina to ever
01:26be, to ever serve in that position.
01:28And I'm very, very proud of that.
01:29My community is a majority-minority district.
01:33And so when we do these kinds of, you know, play these political games that Republicans
01:38want to play with our communities, it hurts people like mine in my district, and the districts
01:43of people that are standing behind me.
01:45And we take our jobs serious, unlike Texas House Republicans.
01:49So thank you, and next I want to introduce our former colleague, Congresswoman Julian Johnson.
