TAR UMT’s success due to dedication from pioneers and staff, says Chan

The achievements of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) would not have been possible without the dedication of its faculty and staff, says Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy.   The TAR UMT Board of Governors and Alumni Council chairman noted that since its establishment on Feb 24, 1969, as Tunku Abdul Rahman College, the institution has grown significantly, expanding its academic offerings, upgrading facilities and setting up branches in five states. 00:18Fifty-six years ago, on 24 February 1969, the then Tengku Abdul Rahman College opened

00:28its doors to its first cohort of students.

00:34This marks the beginning of a remarkable journey, a journey filled with challenges, triumphs,

00:44and an unwavering commitment to excellence in education.

00:51What began as a modest endeavor has grown into a distinguished university, renowned

01:01for producing graduates who make meaningful contributions to society, country, globally,

01:11and locally.

01:14As we celebrate our Foundation Day, let us take a moment to remember the visionaries

01:22and pioneers whose dedication and foresight laid the foundation for TAR UMT.

01:33In this midst of tough challenges, they held fast to their integrity to provide high-quality

01:43education which is affordable for all Malaysians.

01:50The founders of this institution are leaders of the people, and it is their legacy that

01:58continues to inspire us to strive for greater heights.

02:05I'm sure all of you are aware that the story of the Tarshans TAR UMT's very own docudrama.

02:17I'm happy to note that this film will be screened here after this ceremony, and several

02:24more screening sessions will be held until 28 February 2025.

02:32The story of Tarshans resonates with many of us, including myself, who has spent our

02:40lives at TAR UMT.

02:45It is my hope that many more Tarshans will watch the story of Tarshans.

02:52Today, TAR UMT stands as a beacon of innovation, industry, inclusivity, and academic excellence.

03:05Our achievements would not have been possible without the dedication of our faculty and

03:13staff who have worked tirelessly to nurture and guide generations of students.

03:21To our alumni, your success is our greatest pride.
