00:04In the early 16th century, Yamada Nakasama left Japan and sailed to Siam, now Thailand,
00:10during a time of global trade and rising empires.
00:13There, he became leader of a Japanese community and earned the trust of the Siamese king.
00:18Known for his loyalty and military skill, he was granted the noble title of Yase Napimuk.
00:24He rose to power, governed a province, led troops and influenced royal politics.
00:31But after the king's death, enemies saw him as a threat.
00:34In 1630, Yamada was mutated and poisoned.
00:38His Japanese enclave was crushed and his story lives on.
00:42He remains one of the few samurai to leave Japan and root on board.
