00:00Just outside the old city of Ayutthaya, there's a quiet riverside spot called the Japanese village.

00:07Over 400 years ago, during the time of Ayutthaya kingdom, Japanese people came here to live.

00:13Some betrayers, others were soldiers or travelers.

00:16They came looking for new chances and they became part of the local community.

00:21One man, Okiyasi Napimoku, who is one of the most notable foreign novels in Thailand, even became a top military leader in the king's court.

00:30He helped build a strong connection between Thailand and Japan.

00:34Today, the village is a peaceful place where you can learn about this history.

00:38There's small museum, a Japanese garden, and this place showing how people lived back then.
