00:00...Racing 15-second board up for the final time this weekend.
00:04The MXGP of Flanders here at Lommel in Belgium is about to come to a rip-roaring conclusion.
00:11Who will it be that grabs that foxhole shot?
00:13Coonan in Gate 1, will he come across the number 3 if he gets the advantage?
00:18Yes, he does, but it's going to be Gifting.
00:21Hurlings on the outside.
00:23And Hurlings, Gifting may have got the foxhole shot, but it was Hurlings with the momentum.
00:28Fevre had the last lap, he came out in 3rd or 4th position.
00:31Coonan a couple of positions further back.
00:34We'll see that from the drone in our replay, but...
00:37Hurlings leads, Gifting, not much there on the exit, but he gets past there as well.
00:44Fevre quickly into 2nd.
00:45Oh, Gifting coming to an abrupt halt.
00:49Coonan in 5th place, just behind Bonacorsi, who stays upright this time around through the 1st turn.
00:56He's got Volandran alongside him as well, has Coonan.
01:01Already then, having to work hard in the early stages of this race.
01:04Nicely on the back end, wheelie in that hole.
01:08Got a leg off there.
01:13Good start this for Volandran as well.
01:14And Bonacorsi, Bonacorsi coming home in Race 1 in 9th place.
01:18Oh, Gifting down.
01:21His time at the front, cut short this time around.
01:23Gifting out of 3rd.
01:25Maybe a Gif for Coonan there, having to try to pass Gifting.
01:28Gifting them a pass, absolutely.
01:293-1.
01:33Fevre getting his head down, going after Hurlings.
01:35Hurlings on a sprint lap.
01:36Yeah, I think he's got some pent-up frustration and pent-up energy sitting on the sidelines watching this championship unfold.
01:44So Hurlings leads, Fevre 2nd, Bonacorsi here in red.
01:46Fantic Factor Racing.
01:47He's in 3rd.
01:48Volandran on the 10th is 4th on Serenity Yamaha.
01:50Then we've got the Red Bull KTM of Coonan.
01:53Number 96 there in the red and white.
01:54He is in 5th place.
01:55At the expense of Gifting, certainly for a few corners at least.
02:00Then Fernandes.
02:01Fernandes fell in Race 1 at the start.
02:03Got himself back to 14th.
02:05He is currently circulating in 6th.
02:06Had a cold knock for an 0.
02:07Panza and Watson, who just finds his way past the Slovenian into 9th place.
02:11Panza now 10.
02:13Look at the sector times from Hurlings through 3.
02:16That's incredible.
02:19Coonan, he likes to go big on that wall jump.
02:22He's going to try and cut to the inside.
02:24Oh, nice!
02:25Goes even further.
02:27Goes a long way around.
02:28The Londrin tries to read it well.
02:31And he does.
02:32Sides his way past the front of the Belgian.
02:36This is a proper tear up between these two.
02:39Coonan winning that battle to move into 4th place.
02:41They've been going out it all weekend.
02:42You can just tell Volandran does not want to be beat by the rookie.
02:45Every time they've had to battle, Volandran's been incredibly aggressive.
02:50Tried to make the pass there.
02:52Didn't work out.
02:53Thought about coming back to the inside.
02:54And Volandran was second-guessing there, wasn't it?
02:57And that cost him to back off, allow Coonan to go back around the outside.
03:01And he messed up here.
03:03Volandran said, you know what, you want to play that?
03:05I'm going to come straight back across the inside.
03:07It's down to you to back off, pal.
03:08But then he has the last left on the exit of the turn.
03:12Immediate response.
03:14He knows he can't afford to hang around because Fevra was impressive in the first race how he managed that whole race.
03:19Even when he was under attack from Coonan.
03:221.59 for Hurwitz.
03:23On the opening lap.
03:27Coonan going after Bonacorsi here.
03:30Fastest lap in race.
03:31One was a 2.04.061.
03:33Remember the track was groomed in the hour break.
03:35Slightly.
03:36Not a lot.
03:37Just slightly.
03:37So, yeah, that's a massive lap.
03:39That could be the achievements, fastest lap of the race.
03:41Weekend in MXGP.
03:431.59.5.
03:48Good responses from Bonacorsi in third.
03:51He's had a lap to sort of settle himself down.
03:55Coonan is good on this part of the racetrack, isn't he?
03:57Sort of that turn 12 before you swing sort of left, right through those waves a moment ago.
04:04Chase in the outside here, though.
04:08Number 96.
04:10That jumps long, clears a couple of holes.
04:13Oh, I tell you what, he's right handlebar.
04:14It's so close to those tough blocks as he tips right through that turn.
04:19Yeah, he's got to try to get around, but of course he hears as quick as possible.
04:22Very quick to try and find his way past the Italian, and he does.
04:27New set of wheels after this GP, please, if you don't mind.
04:31He's been pounding lap after lap.
04:34Moves into second.
04:35He's going to be able to see Fevre ride up the racetrack, which will comfort him a little bit, right?
04:39When you're in traffic like that, you're just, I got to go, I got to go.
04:42Now he's going to have a clear racetrack.
04:43You won't care so much about Jeffrey up the racetrack.
04:46He'll be squarely focused on Fevre.
04:48And I wonder how much race one was, because we talked about it in race one, where those two, Fevre and Coonan, whilst they were in that first and second, were just kind of sussing each other out.
04:59Then there was an injection of pace, which the other one matched.
05:02And then it was kind of, okay, it's game on now.
05:04And then it was Coonan, who's dead, said, you know what, I'm ready to go.
05:08Fevre matched him, put him back in his place.
05:11I think this time, if Coonan gets onto the rear wheel, I think he's just going to go for broke and just say, you know what, head down, see how far we can get.
05:16Watson, down there, he was just behind Maxime Renault in ninth place.
05:25Yeah, my guess would be between the two, Lucas spent more energy in race one than Fevre.
05:30He just had so many, he had to make crazy passes, skying the wall jump, putting in these heroic charges.
05:37Or Fevre just slow and steady, right?
05:39He had to put in a couple bursts to match and make a repass on Coonan.
05:43But the rest of the time, he was kind of able to dictate the pace.
05:45Well, Jeffrey Hurlings, he's going to be third overall at the moment with an eighth and a first.
05:50Whether he stays there or not, it's a different matter.
05:52Those guys were fighting over there on the inside.
05:54Hurlings, a few gates over, just opened up that first turn.
05:57He swept across, and he did bag the foxhole shot, gifting their second.
06:02And look at Coonan here, gate number one.
06:05Fevre tucks it even tighter.
06:10Yeah, Lucas turned about four times in that one corner.
06:15Geoffrey Hurlings, his first foxhole shot of the season.
06:23And his last, believe it or not, was La Capelle Maritval, 10th of October 2021, in the first race during COVID times.
06:33Yeah.
06:3432 now to his name, Geoffrey Hurlings.
06:40Since this foxhole shot competition began.
06:44Looking good here at the moment.
06:46205-4, Fevre a second.
06:48Coonan, third.
06:50I didn't expect this, I'll be honest with you.
06:56I did not expect him to have an eight-second lead, four lap, three laps in.
07:01We haven't seen any of that all weekend, other than the warm-up, he was quickest.
07:04If you were looking for some sort of sign of it, the warm-up this morning, but the warm-up is just the warm-up.
07:09No one's really trying to set a lap.
07:11Yeah, especially at Lombo, no one wants to waste any energy.
07:14Yeah.
07:15And obviously, in race one, he was parked into third place as those two just went ahead of him.
07:20Yeah, I'm not getting involved in that championship, but now he's got a whole shot.
07:24You know what?
07:25He's just there saying, why not?
07:26Go for it.
07:26Let's see if I can get a race win.
07:28Fork it, adrenaline.
07:29Yeah.
07:32Velandran here.
07:33Going after Bonacorsi.
07:35These two fighting over fourth place.
07:36Bonacorsi Italian in red in that fourth place.
07:38Then we've got Velandran going to be just missing the podium by two points here at the moment.
07:44So, he needs two passes, really.
07:47Or he needs hurlings to fade in the latter stages, if it's to make a pass at least.
07:53Yeah, if Febbra and Lucas Cooney can get it down to four or five seconds,
07:57I think it would be really difficult for Jeffrey to hold on to it in the last two laps.
08:01But the gap at the moment is staying stable.
08:03All three riders in 205 territory.
08:05205, 4, 0.8, and 0.3 for the Hurlings, Febbra, and Cooney freight train.
08:1312 seconds separate them.
08:14Consistently putting in faster sectors.
08:16That sector three is not a good one for him, but the other three, he's been better every time.
08:21Yeah, so sector three is from turn 12 in the opposite direction,
08:25just through the sweeping left, to this point here.
08:27Sun's back out as well, and that late afternoon sun can also just throw a little spell.
08:38Yeah, it's not Florida, it's not hot or humid, it's not certainly as hot as what we've had in previous years here.
08:44But when we, it was all, you know, very chilly and cold and wet and miserable over the course of the weekend, on and off.
08:49Sun comes out, they definitely feel it, and they'll be feeling it here with this kind of pace, in these kind of circuit conditions.
08:57Keep an eye on those gaps, aren't we?
08:588.3.
08:59Oh, Valana just lights at the back end, tips out of fifth place.
09:02Quickly rejoined and remounts, that may have been his chance of a podium, third overall scuppered in that moment there.
09:11Just asking too much of the rear wheel.
09:13I just wonder where Coltenhoff starts have been all day.
09:16I thought he'd been in the podium fight, and, you know, just based on how he rode at Lockett last weekend,
09:22it really, nothing to speak of so far.
09:25Where have you starts?
09:26It's been three foxhole shots in the last four races coming into this weekend.
09:30You've got two in the Kimi ring, and the second race in Lockett a week ago.
09:36Starts letting him down this weekend, that's for sure.
09:40Come Valana, meanwhile, picking himself back up in seventh place, so losing two places.
09:46So Herlings leads, still more than 8.5 seconds clear, Fevera Kunin, nearly three seconds further back.
09:52Then Bonacorsi for Fernandes, just going out of sight there, under HRC, fifth.
09:56Coltenhoff, sixth, as the boss looks on.
09:58Seven for Villanren, eight, Maxime Renault, nine, Jan Panza, ten, Rohamana Mostai.
10:04Then we've got Quentin Brunier, Hocken Fredrickson.
10:06He was about 17th or 18th on the opening lap, so again, chipping away, up to 12th at the moment for the Norwegian.
10:11And no surprise, Jago Kijertz didn't start after he ejected himself out of the sunroof.
10:23I don't think it was a sunroof, I think it was a moonroof.
10:24Yeah, it was that far into orbit.
10:26That was a big get-off.
10:32Big get-off.
10:38This was Villanren, just...
10:40Yeah, look, lost the front, and then the back came around on him.
10:43That front disruption upset the rear, and then the rear just never, just never found traction again.
10:50Unfortunately for him, two riders were very, very close behind him.
10:52Here's Maxime Renault.
10:55Up and down weekend for him this weekend.
10:5711th in the qualifying race, 10th in race one, currently circulating 8th in race two.
11:06It's going to be good enough for 9th overall for the former MX2 world champion.
11:10Gap coming down a little bit.
11:11Gap coming down a little bit as Lucas Coonan puts in his best lap of the race, a 2.05, 0.45.
11:17Two and a half, three-tenths quicker than Vevra.
11:20Gerling's also coming back to him a little bit as well.
11:22We're going to have a three-way fight here eventually.
11:25Yeah, look at that.
11:25Vevra, six and a half behind Gerling's, though.
11:28One thing we didn't expect to see this weekend until maybe two, three days ago
11:33when it was announced that Geoffrey Gerling's was going to line up here.
11:37It was maybe Gerling's at the front, and a battle between the top two in the championship.
11:41Working hard to stay on track there was the 96th of Coonan, just offline as he crested that summit.
11:46It's not easy stepping up to 450 from MX2.
11:58Ah, Bogus.
12:00Former Grand Prix went around here.
12:03Issues for the Fantic factory rider.
12:04But not the way he wanted to round out this GP.
12:08Oh, Gerling's has thrown it away again.
12:15Uncharacteristic mistake.
12:16Vevra goes by.
12:17Coonan goes by.
12:18And that is the waves coming back out of turn 12 because this is where sector three ends look.
12:29Watch this.
12:29This is where Tom Guillon fell in the open class race yesterday.
12:34And this time he goes down on that right shoulder.
12:36He got off pretty easy there, though.
12:39That first kick, it could have been much worse.
12:42And he downside slid on that right shoulder as well.
12:46So Vevra out of the lead.
12:47And once again, the top two are going to go toe-to-toe because it's only 1.3 seconds between Vevra and Coonan.
12:55At the end of lap six.
12:58Ring rustiness creeping in possibly for the bullet.
13:01He was able to avoid that sudden stop, which, man, that's what really can hurt that collarbone again, is that sudden stop and impact.
13:12Luckily, he slid, as you mentioned, that big help.
13:18Just saying something, maybe front wheel twisted in the clamps or something.
13:22But that's two kicks in his head at the back end as well, isn't it?
13:25The first one, that's what cost him when he hit one of those holes.
13:27And then just there, probably hit the same line for the first five laps.
13:33Worked until it didn't.
13:34Then, poof.
13:35Wow, we've talked about it all day.
13:37This track can catch you so quickly, right?
13:39And he knows that more than I'll ever know.
13:42But you can just see everything's fine, everything's fine.
13:44Then it's not and in a big hurry.
13:46And that mistake puts Vellandran back on the podium.
13:48Thirty-four points all of a sudden.
13:50So, Fevre looking at 50.
13:53Coonan, 44.
13:54Vellandran, 34.
13:56Hurlings, 33.
13:59Lisa Leyland is down in pit lane with Davide Di Kali, Red Bull KTM factory racing team manager.
14:06We're getting ready to go down there imminently.
14:09Not sure he wants to take his eyes off the action here.
14:12But let's see if we can prize him away.
14:16Lisa Leyland, whenever you're ready, let's go down there now to pit lane.
14:23Davide Di Kali, once again, we're going to be treated to a really close battle between Coonan and Fevre.
14:28How was he feeling after that first race?
14:30Because he put so much energy into that.
14:32Yeah, of course.
14:33The track, it's really bumpy and you need to try to save the energy until the end.
14:40They both push hard in the first model, you know, and both want to win.
14:46Yeah, they go both for the title, so it's normal.
14:49They are pushing hard and I hope this one, we will win this model.
14:55Lucas will give everything, but I need to stay calm and don't take so much risk.
15:01Best of luck to the team.
15:03Thank you, Davide.
15:071.6 the gap at Sector 3 a moment ago as they hit the line.
15:12Is it still hovering around about the same?
15:131.5.
15:16The gap between Fevre and Coonan.
15:19Well, there's definitely none of these two are going to back off, are they, Jason Thomas?
15:23Because, as David Di Kali just said there, both are going for the GP win,
15:28both are going for the World Championship.
15:31As we came into this weekend, it was 10 points, Fevre, to the good.
15:35It went down to 9, it went back out to 12 after Fevre won the first race.
15:39It'll go out to 15 if things stay as they are.
15:41That'll be a good weekend for Fevre, but it can swing back the other way, can't it?
15:47Just as quickly if Coonan figures out a way to find his way past the Frenchman.
15:52There was a slight mistake in the back corner there at Fevre, just dragging his right leg on notice before he disappeared around the corner.
15:57Yeah, and just, you can hear, you know, Davide's comments there.
16:01He's been around so many championships, you know, from Cairoli to Prado.
16:05Like, he's seen this all before, so there's a lot of wisdom in what he's saying.
16:10There was the mistake there, looked just a little off balance.
16:13Which kills his momentum over that step down.
16:15You know, they've been jumping across that.
16:17And the gap all of a sudden, down to 8 tenths.
16:20The advantage with Coonan once again.
16:22Yeah, so it seems like a small mistake, but the end effect is a lot more punitive because he couldn't step across that corner.
16:28Talking about Davide DiCali, the voice of reason in that team.
16:31Very calm, demeanor.
16:32His dad even more calm.
16:33Expressionless, motionless.
16:35I'm sure if you know you're in trouble, you'll feel the wrath.
16:37But otherwise, it just very, just goes about his business, isn't he?
16:40The boss man, Mr. Claudio DiCali.
16:43Yeah, but they're just very methodical, right?
16:44They believe in the process that it takes to get to winning.
16:47And look at the track record.
16:49How can you not say it works?
16:52Right, is he going to go big?
16:56They both go big.
16:57Once bitten, twice shy.
16:59Roman Favre not going to get caught by the whole sky meet for the pass for the lead trick.
17:07Dad looks on there.
17:10I don't think he's moved a weekend.
17:11He's been planted in there.
17:12He's got his concrete boots on, I think.
17:18206.8, 206.3.
17:20Gap just 1.07 seconds.
17:23Don't need us to tell you that, though.
17:24You don't need a stopwatch.
17:26They're both in the same shot.
17:27Favreau and Coonan.
17:29So, Paul, if you're Coonan here, you know what happened the first one.
17:33You made this big lunge.
17:34Wasn't successful.
17:36How do you approach race two?
17:37What have you learned from and how are you going to apply that in race two?
17:40If you make the pass, make it stick, because that's what he wasn't able to do.
17:43He rushed the next corner at the end of pit lane onto the start straight, which allowed
17:48Favreau just to get back in the mix the next couple of corners.
17:53And that was it.
17:54Had he made that pass stick, you never know.
17:55It could have been pressure on Favreau to try and go after him if he couldn't react immediately.
18:00And he goes through here.
18:02Back in.
18:02That one coming out of nowhere.
18:04Fans on their feet.
18:06And he does it on the part of a racetrack where Favreau's not able to respond.
18:09And he didn't expect it.
18:10No.
18:10Roman did not expect that pass.
18:13Can you see the intensity in Lucas' riding right now?
18:17That was a definitive pass.
18:18He's going to try.
18:19It's a long way to go.
18:20You can't close it right here, but get a gap where the change is the demeanor of Favreau's
18:24race.
18:26But I can't believe the way he pulled that off.
18:29Like, Favreau was completely caught by surprise there.
18:33Was there any mistake?
18:34No, he just jumped longer into here, transferred right to left, and just look at the commitment
18:39through there, look.
18:40Like I say, Favreau had to hit the brakes here.
18:43But you wonder if the lap before where Favreau had made that mistake, if Lucas said, okay,
18:47he may be vulnerable in this particular section.
18:49If I can try to get close, I may be able to pull something off.
18:54Now, he's just extending the gap.
18:56He's full send right now.
18:57This is full sprint mode, trying to build up as safe as gap as possible.
19:02There it is.
19:03Build gap.
19:04You see on the pit board?
19:05Yeah.
19:05Breathe and build gap if he can.
19:07Yeah, yeah.
19:08Those two things don't really work together.
19:09But build the gap is exactly kind of what you're seeing, this burst of energy.
19:15And Favreau has been left behind here at the moment.
19:18This has been a fantastic sort of spring attack, you know, from Lucas Kuna.
19:26Just absolutely caught him off guard.
19:27Out of nowhere.
19:28Like, I didn't sense that was him.
19:30And I was literally asking you how I was going to approach this.
19:33And there it came.
19:33So, Koldanov, who is in fifth place, ran the outside of Fernandez.
19:39That was a lap of go.
19:41That's where he made the move.
19:42Passed past the Honda man.
19:49Koldanov, all of a sudden, finding a second wind with ten minutes plus two to go.
19:54And Koldanov, there.
20:02So, you can catch his teammate on a course, maybe.
20:05Possibly.
20:06Yeah.
20:06Yeah, Valandra's also gone by, Fernandez, as well.
20:08Podium still in the hands of Valandra.
20:13Got a couple of points over Hurling's at the minute.
20:15Where is Hurling's?
20:17In the race.
20:18Currently there in third position.
20:20Yeah, Yamaha needs this podium.
20:22It's been a rough go.
20:29Good recovery of this, actually.
20:30It wasn't a big crash, but it's just one of those crashes where you're right there in the thick of it.
20:35Early on in the race, you're still pushing for it.
20:37You know you've got a podium on the line.
20:38You make a mistake, you lose two positions.
20:40That's how you deal with that, isn't it?
20:41It's emotionally tough.
20:42Especially in these kind of conditions.
20:43It's emotionally tough.
20:49But Calvin Valandra in here.
20:51I mean, really, this last few races, he's really starting to find his feet in this championship chase.
20:56The Monster Energy Yamaha factory rider, of course, got on the podium in Finland for the first time.
21:01And looking to make it two from three rounds here this weekend.
21:05Slight mistake there from number 96, but just fighting the front end.
21:11Just a normal day at the office.
21:13That's just pushing, yeah.
21:14You can just see him blowing up every berm, intensity in every turn.
21:21The problem is, if there's a problem, is this is unsustainable.
21:25The pace he's going right now is not a pace he wants to hold for the next eight minutes plus two laps.
21:30If Febra could withstand this and then try to start clawing it back down, he may have a chance.
21:35So, Lucas is doing everything possible to build a gap.
21:39If he doesn't, then it gets really interesting.
21:42This was how he found his way by.
21:55Look, he was four or five bike lengths back there.
21:57And all of a sudden, he just launched his way through both areas here.
21:59Full commitment here.
22:01And Febra completely caught off guard.
22:03Great move that.
22:05And they're getting out four and a half seconds.
22:06If Lucas Kunin wins this, he'll be the first Belgian winner since Kevin Strybos in 2016,
22:31when Strybos took his last Grand Prix victory on the Suzuki.
22:35We showed it on the studio show on Saturday.
22:41Just some highlights of that.
22:43But, Maxime Renault here.
22:50Ninth place for him.
22:51He's got Van der Mosteik just behind him in tenth position.
22:54Looks like he might be gaining a little bit of ground here, Van der Mosteik, gaining in confidence.
22:59Again, you know, someone like Maxime Renault missed a couple of rounds, didn't he?
23:04Germany and Finland, came back in Czech Republic, didn't score in race two, had an off, probably the one at the first corner.
23:09But not sure how much, in fact, I was talking to Ray, his mechanic, on Friday.
23:17He said he's barely done any sand riding because he's just not been on the bike.
23:20That's been the problem.
23:21And, you know, recovering from injuries and just not riding and training and things like that.
23:25Of course, he'd come here, it comes at the wrong time for him.
23:28But Van der Mosteik looking to go past the 959.
23:31And if he does, that'll be another position for the Dutchman, but, sweeping around the outside, number 919, Ben Watson, picking himself back up.
23:44So he moves past and into tenth as he goes after.
23:48Maxime Renault here.
23:50Big Ben, no stranger to the sand.
23:52One of them is two round here.
23:53Seems like age to go now, doesn't it?
23:57It does, yeah.
23:57Not saying we're getting any younger, mate, but, you know.
23:59So interesting, you think about these guys, right?
24:02Van der Mosteik was, he battled so many times here in MX2 for wins.
24:05Renault, former MX2 world champion.
24:07Ben Watson, former MX2 winner at this racetrack.
24:09You know, that just speaks to the depth of MXGP because every rider, you go up through the field,
24:15oh, yeah, he used to win MX2 races.
24:17Oh, I have to go battle another MX2 world champion.
24:19It's just an all-star list, you know, whether it's stateside or here at MXGP,
24:24when you get to the premier class, it is all former champions of the step down.
24:29Yeah, Ben Watson looking good here on the MRT race in beta.
24:31The 919 made a mistake, didn't he, earlier on in the race when he fell from 9th to 14th.
24:36That's from lap two.
24:37Here he is now in tenth, all over the back of Maxime Renault.
24:41We're about 11, 12 seconds behind Haken Fredrickson, who's moved from 18th to 8th in this second race.
24:49You know what, I think Romo Febvre is thinking, you know, if we stay here, it's going to be a tie for the overall.
24:55Yes, Kunin's going to win the GP.
24:57One point.
24:59But, you know, when you look at the championship, it's going to be down to nine points again.
25:07Just as it was at the start of the weekend.
25:09Yeah, I was kind of wondering if he would be able to withstand the barrage here and then kind of fight back, but going higher, 7.7 now.
25:17I don't know.
25:18It feels like either Febvre's kind of biding his time to mount a charge or he's kind of said, you know what, I'm just going to leave here with a one-point loss on the day.
25:27Yeah.
25:30Telling him, minus 7.
25:33To Lukas Kunin.
25:35Four and a half minutes to go, plus two laps.
25:37As you say, you can't really imagine him now, barring any mistakes from Lukas Kunin.
25:43Your race leader, that gap.
25:457.7 at the split, the last split.
25:48As we go into lap 12, lap 13, it's out to 8.1.
25:52Here's Jeffrey Hurling, still there in third, 21 seconds down on Febvre.
25:57Just going to be missing out on the podium because Vallandrin is going to be on 35 points.
26:01Hurling's on 33.
26:03Here's what happened to Hurling's while he was leading by about 8 seconds.
26:08Watch this here, gets that reaction there.
26:11Couldn't save it, serves his way on the downside.
26:15Very lucky with that one.
26:16He didn't expect that kick at all.
26:18See lots of Andrew in there looking on.
26:20She's like, oh, I know that bump.
26:21Yeah, Bertram Torius as well.
26:27But you've got to start somewhere, right?
26:29You know, you put yourself into the frying pan.
26:32Oh, the first 10 minutes were incredible.
26:34Yeah.
26:37Isaac gifting.
26:41That's about right, yep.
26:43Come on, Isaac.
26:45Charge his downy inside.
26:47And that is going to be...
26:48Maxime Renaud just thinking, you know what?
26:51Yeah, I don't want anything to do with that, is basically what he's thinking.
26:55Gifting, going from 11 to 10.
26:58If you have to introduce Isaac gifting to anyone and say, tell me a little bit about Isaac gifting.
27:01What's this kid all about?
27:02Just show that.
27:03Show that clip right there.
27:04Watches here.
27:08Launches himself alongside the Frenchman who looks across and thinks, I'll try and get across on you here.
27:14Gifting, saying, try harder than that, mate.
27:16I'm going to jump over your head.
27:17I'm going to jump over your head.
27:17I'm going to proverbial brick house.
27:19I'm going to jump over your head.
27:21And then when I land, I'm going to swerve at you and then elbow you.
27:23And then you're going to bounce off me.
27:24Hurling's down again.
27:29Out of third, just trying to pick himself up.
27:31And there's Bonacorsi going around the outside as he moves into third.
27:34So that is the start of sector three, which is the area that he's been his weakest.
27:41Just folds the front.
27:43Just wonder how much of that is just upper body strength and just not fit.
27:46This was a tough ask, right?
27:48Two times, come off an injury.
27:50And if this wasn't Lama, he wouldn't be here.
27:53That's as simple as that.
27:54It's too early, but he wanted to raise Lama.
27:57Kortnoff has gone by as well, so he's going to be down to fifth place.
28:00And Volana and getting ready to go by the 84 as well.
28:06He does dance his way around the outside.
28:14Jeffrey's such a psychopath, though.
28:15He'll probably wake up tomorrow and go riding.
28:18It's probably what.
28:18Oh, yeah, absolutely.
28:19Yeah.
28:20Yeah, I'm not fit.
28:21I haven't been riding enough, so guess what?
28:22Going to ride every day between now and Sweden.
28:26Has been known.
28:27All right.
28:27It's just his way.
28:29It's what he does.
28:31Lucas Coonan, 11 and a half seconds clear of Fevra.
28:34With, uh, three laps to go, maybe?
28:39Looking at the time, 1.36.
28:40How far is...
28:42Out to 11.
28:42Oh, yeah, it's going to be four to go, actually,
28:44because it's only 2.7, isn't it, the lap times?
28:46Might be tight.
28:47Well, I think we have our question answered.
28:49Whether, you know, if Coonan makes a mistake, things can change.
28:51But we have our answer as far as whether Fevra was kind of mounting a char and weight charge here.
28:57Bonacausey up to third.
28:58Coldenov up to fourth.
28:59Volandran up to fifth.
29:00Hurling's down to sixth.
29:03Volandran, 36 points.
29:05He's third overall.
29:07Coldenov is only two behind him.
29:11Coldenov is about five seconds behind his teammate, Bonacausey.
29:14That will give him the two points that he needs, and as he finishes ahead of Volandran, that'll give him the podium.
29:21Wonder if the team have worked that out yet.
29:24But Volandran will have other ideas.
29:25He'll see the 2.59 ahead of him and say, you know what?
29:28Coming after you.
29:28Just to make sure every point counts.
29:36Been another physically challenging Grand Prix, though, here, hasn't it?
29:39It never disappoints in that aspect, watching these riders suffer around this racetrack.
29:43No, it's, uh, I think this has been one of the tougher ones I've seen in a long time.
29:48Dirk's heavier, didn't fix the racetrack between Saturday and Sunday.
29:53It's just a, it's just a brutal, brutal affair.
29:57It's definitely a technique, isn't it?
29:59What these guys do to get around here as efficiently as possible.
30:03Those braking rubs there, they are like quicksand.
30:08You drop your front wheel in the wrong one there, and that's it, job done.
30:14Volandran gets alongside Koldanov, who's got an outside mid-line sweep,
30:21and then back out to the outside again.
30:24Keeping Volandran behind him for now.
30:26Down, past pit lane.
30:36It's the one chance to rest right here.
30:38Soak it in, boys.
30:39Yeah, all 70 meters of it.
30:42And then you're into the deep berm that is now a very chewed up first turn
30:46into those gnarly braking bumps that they were flat.
30:49That was flat going into the start of the race,
30:50because they prepped the first turn into the second turn.
30:53But you wouldn't know it.
30:54Soon turn over.
30:57Those bumps soon come back.
30:59Sun disappearing behind the clouds here.
31:01Temperature's cooling ever so slightly.
31:03Doing the riders a favor.
31:11Koldanov looking good.
31:12Just two points shy of the podium, though.
31:15Has he closed in on his teammate?
31:174.8, a couple tenths.
31:21There's Bonacorsi disappearing out of sight in red.
31:23Not too bad for Pantzer in seventh.
31:27You know, he's not a sand master.
31:29I think he would even say that.
31:30But seventh, pretty good.
31:31He was on our studio show on Saturday.
31:34And we pointed out, you know, you had a fantastic ride in Lockett in the first race.
31:38Obviously, you know, had a tough ride in the second one.
31:42Didn't really tell the whole story.
31:43But this weekend, Lommel's not really been your strongest point.
31:47A lot of up and downs.
31:48I saw yesterday, he made a social post.
31:51And he said, you know, we made some changes to the bike from the qualifying race where time practice wasn't great.
31:58But then 17th, he said, but the changes we found and made, they should transfer to today.
32:06I think he's right.
32:07And he was right.
32:08Okay, 16th in race one.
32:11Currently 7th in race two.
32:13It's going to be 11th overall.
32:15His best finish overall around here.
32:17But into the final two laps.
32:22Lucas Coonan.
32:24He knew where he wanted to attack.
32:26Not sure if he knew when to attack.
32:28But it was just going to be when he thought he was close enough.
32:32Definitely caught Fevre by surprise through that right left.
32:36Fevre at that point as well.
32:38Because he had to back off more than he wanted to in that right hander.
32:41Lost that momentum.
32:42Couldn't react like he did.
32:44As soon as he got past in race one.
32:45And that was crucial in the same way that it was crucial for Fevre to do the same in race one.
32:50Smart racing by Lucas.
32:51You know, I think he learned a little bit.
32:53First moto makes the pass.
32:54Didn't close it.
32:55Kind of secure it.
32:56This race, he made the move and just exploded for two or three laps.
33:01And I think just psychologically, Fevre said, I can't do anything with that.
33:06And it changes the course of the race.
33:08It changes the narrative of the rest of the race.
33:11It will be a noisy old podium here this weekend.
33:17We're about a lap and a bit away from Lucas Coonan.
33:20Standing on the podium.
33:21And when you look at his record since round six.
33:26Nine consecutive podiums.
33:30This will be ten in a row for him.
33:33That's starting the season with...
33:35And three wins in a row for the first time in MXGP.
33:38He got two in Switzerland and Portugal.
33:40And then back to back again, Finland and Czech Republic.
33:42The last two rounds coming in here.
33:44Three in a row.
33:45That's going to be pretty impressive in his debut season.
33:47Don't call him a rookie.
33:48Starting the season with possibly broken arms.
33:50You know, it's amazing he was even racing to this.
33:54It's quite the trend.
33:56I mean, we're watching a guy that's going to be fighting for MXGP titles for as long as he wants to.
34:01You don't get this good this quickly if you're not going to be around.
34:05Yeah, Fevre on course for his 13th consecutive podium as well.
34:09That's how this championship's been, hasn't it?
34:10You know, when you lose a couple of riders through injury and things like that,
34:13two more riders step up.
34:15And it's been those two riders that have dominated the championship just on those podium visits alone.
34:19Yeah, you know, I talked to a lot of people about this.
34:22And I'm like, well, you know, Geiser got hurt.
34:24And that's fair.
34:24Geiser was firmly in control of the championship.
34:26But let's remember what was happening when Geiser got hurt.
34:30He and Lucas were battling hard in Switzerland, right?
34:34So whether or not the championship would have gone the same, it's tough.
34:39This is tough, right?
34:40His body's screaming out, probably his shoulders hurting at this point.
34:45No quit, though.
34:46No quit.
34:46Never learned anything by quitting.
34:50But I think just the people asking the question of, well, what would Lucas be doing if Geiser was out there?
34:54I'd say he'd probably be down in points, but fighting for race wins.
34:58It's probably what would be happening.
34:59Right, Kuhner on his final two-thirds of a lap.
35:07He has done everything right in race two.
35:10He thought he'd done everything right in race one when he made the move on Roman Favre,
35:13but the feisty Frenchman fought back immediately, scuppered his chances, and that broke the resolve of Kuhner.
35:22Poetry in motion.
35:25Looks sketchy, but he probably wouldn't even know what you're talking about if you asked him later.
35:28No, no, no, no, he's been doing it all race.
35:32But Lucas Coonan, though, he'll pop back in the view.
35:36That'll be music to their eyes when they see him emerge out of this right-hander from their view of pit lane.
35:43You'll see the top of that red bull helmet as he pops his way through those waves for the final time.
35:48Look at that.
35:50Look at the straightaway there.
35:52It is absolutely insane, isn't it?
35:56When you see it at slowed down speed like that, you see exactly what these guys are hitting,
36:00but the way they're hitting it, look at that.
36:02What a reception for Lucas Coonan.
36:03They came to see a Belgian victory here in Flanders.
36:09Celebrates on the final.
36:11A couple of corners.
36:12Lucas Coonan came, saw, and conquered at home.
36:17That's a special one.
36:19Home GP.
36:20Even Claudio is excited.
36:22A smile on the face of Claudio DeCarli.
36:25And Lucas Coonan is going to be the first Belgian to win on home soil since.
36:32Kevin Strybos, 2016 on a Suzuki.
36:36In this MXGP category, the National Anthem will play loud and proud around this Lommelwood circuit
36:43as Coonan wins at home.
36:47What a performance in the second race.
36:52I think that is a coming-of-age performance for Lucas Coonan.
36:57Why not go celebrate?
36:58There's the fan club there.
36:59And the personal sponsors as well.
37:11Enjoying the moment.
37:14And high-fiving everybody.
37:15Looks like it had gone.
37:17And gone.
37:18And gone.
37:19Just kept on going.
37:20Congratulations, Lucas Coonan and Rebel, KTM Factory Racing.
37:26Thoroughly enjoying that one.
37:32He broke Robert Fevre in that second race, Jason Thomas.
37:36He did.
37:36I didn't think, the way Fevre fought back in race one, I thought he would put up more of a fight.
37:41So it'll be interesting to hear Fevre's comments if he just wasn't quite feeling comfortable with the track or something.
37:47He just, but once that move happened, that was kind of all she wrote.
37:50Like, Fevre really had nothing to push back against.
37:53And maybe he just said, okay, job done.
37:55One point down on the weekend.
37:57We knew Coonan would be strong here.
37:58It's not my best track.
38:00I'll accept that.
38:01But Robert Fevre, two-time winner out here.
38:03He was ironing up his third victory.
38:04So you can't say he's no slouch around here.
38:06We saw that in the performance in race one.
38:08But I think he's just looking at weekend to weekend.
38:10You know he'll go to Sweden.
38:11It's okay.
38:12Better conditions for me.
38:13I need to go win this weekend.
38:14But if you're the points leader, you'll take another event just off the calendar.
38:20A one-point differential.
38:22That's, you know, at some point, the clock starts working.
38:25Against you if you're the person down at points.
38:29Definitely this 2025 World Championship campaign, though, in MXGP is still too close to call.
38:36It's down to nine points.
38:39It can go anyway between now and the end of the...
