00:00There was an Instagram post at this point, probably, let's call it over a week ago, where

00:09Nikola Jokic's agent was out in France with Mav Carter and LeBron.

00:17If you don't know who Mav Carter is, this is one of LeBron's closest friends and business

00:21partners.

00:22And the caption basically came to, the summer of 25 is a great time to make plans for the

00:31fall of 26.

00:33And people, understandably, went, wow, LeBron to the Nuggets?

00:39Wow, Jokic to the Lakers?

00:41I mean, let's get excited, which I think is a good time.

00:44And that's the kind of drama and nonsense that the NBA can thrive on.

00:48But the post lingered long enough for there to actually be some legitimate reporting on

00:55what was going on here on that boat.

00:59And what was going on was a meeting around a league that Mav Carter primarily is looking

01:09to lead a global basketball league where some of the details have been reported by front

01:18office sports, six men's teams, six women's team, a touring format.

01:25That's the idea around the global nature of this league.

01:29They're going to look to offer up player equity as an incentive to join this league.

01:36There has already been some very serious funding that has come through for this league.

01:42The quoted price that Mav Carter is aiming for is $5B billion.

01:51And Mav Carter is a very legitimate player.

01:54Again, I would imagine most of you know, but this is not some, oh, he's a random LeBron guy.

02:01Mav does a lot of business.

02:02And one of the reasons he would be speaking with Jokic's agent and why that is relevant

02:09is Jokic's agent does not just represent Nikola Jokic, but a ton of overseas European players

02:19where if this endeavor is going to get off of the ground, Mav is going to need to probably

02:25find over 90%, I would imagine, J.Y., of the talent in this league.

02:33It's a lot there, but I want to try to explain to people what's going on.

02:38What were some of the things that you've been thinking about with this potential touring

02:42global basketball league?

02:45If I'm the leagues in Europe and if I'm the WNBA, I'm saying, uh-oh.

02:51Because obviously basketball's become a global game.

02:56And when you look at what they're trying to do, the NBA, all of a sudden this week, had

03:03a meeting in London talking about a league in Europe, which FIBA doesn't, there's leagues

03:11in Europe, they don't want.

03:13And then there's the whole way of how this would impact the women, particularly the WNBA

03:21players, if you think about it, now you're looking at not just WNBA, you're looking at

03:27unrivaled with their whole concept of giving the players equity into the league, enticed

03:37some of these players to go in.

03:39So now, to me, it's now an arms race of who gets there first.

03:47Does the NBA partner up with the WNBA to find a way to get into Europe more?

03:53Or does this league by Maverick Carter get in there first?

03:58First, there's one name we talked about last segment that did not play at Unrivaled, and

04:10that's Kaitlin Clark.

04:11There's another name that did not play in the league last year, Aja Wilson.

04:18So now, it's funny, Kevin and I were talking about this earlier this week, a couple of days

04:21ago, and then we're putting it together.

04:24Kaitlin Clark, Aja Wilson, Sabrina Nescu is one of the last players to join, Maverick

04:32Carter, Joker.

04:35This is a Nike play.

04:38The top Nike players, and let's see what happens, because then you've got to think about Juju

04:41coming in in a couple of years, and players like that.

04:45I think this could be like the ultimate Nike power play, because they control a lot of the

04:51main, especially women's players, could they start to look at that as a way to get these

04:58kids into this new league?

05:00Because at the end of the day, when it comes down to the women's game, I know we talked

05:05about Paige and Kaitlin.

05:07Kaitlin's the one you've got to get.

05:09So, can Unrivaled give more equity to Kaitlin to get her in the league?

05:14Or is she holding out, knowing that maybe she can go to this league with Maverick Carter,

05:21and that would blow the lid off of that league?
