00:00Police arrested a 31-year-old man following a nearly hour-long car chase that began in Kota Samarahan and ended in Stampintenga in Sarawak early Tuesday.
00:13Kota Samarahan OCPD Superintendent Damataris Lautin said the suspect fled in a car after police officers on their crime prevention patrol routine near a hotel tried to stop the vehicle around 2.50 a.m.
00:26He said when the officers attempted to inspect the vehicle, the driver sped off, ignoring loudspeaker warnings to stop.
00:34He said the car chase then ensued through multiple locations and saw the suspect's vehicle crashing into a patrol vehicle and the suspect attempting to flee into nearby bushes, where he was apprehended.
00:46He said no contraband was found and the car was not reported stolen, but the police had seized the vehicle.
00:52He said the man, who had a previous record of housebreaking and drug-related offences, acted aggressively during the arrest.
01:00The case is being investigated for obstructing public servants in discharging their duties.
