00:00Well, just like that, we're back and another TNT sporting legend was laid to rest today
00:08as the life of former national footballer, Ulrich Boggy Haynes, was celebrated.
00:13Scores of fans, friends and family came to say farewell to the former national football captain
00:18who passed away a few days ago at the age of 76.
00:23Haynes played alongside a number of local football legends such as Alvin Cornu,
00:27Sedley Joseph and Everett Gally Cummings.
00:32He was also the captain of Malibu in sports club and was described as a gifted and lethal forward.
00:38Haynes was deeply tied to his community of Takarigua and through his Boggy Haynes coaching school
00:43passed on his knowledge to many young players.
00:47And one of his friends and fellow Takarigua residents, Professor Selwyn Couture, paid tribute to the legend.
00:56Ulrich Boggy Haynes represents the essence of community and what it means to be an integral member of a community.
01:04His commitment to his village was no passing thing.
01:09It was imbued in his biological and social being.
01:13Today, I pray I'm going to say what he used to do and so on, and next week I'm going to forget him.
01:19But it seems to me today we must honor this black prince by resolving to do three things which he wanted so badly.
01:27We must demand the government, and I will try to lead his endeavour,
01:31that the Holy Savannah and the Hurricane's Grong, the whole of the Savannah, be declared an historical site
01:37so that no power person will change that ever.
01:40Number two, we should design a bronze statue of Ulrich Haynes
01:46and place it at the head of the Buddy Haynes Grong
01:49to signify the contributions that he made to this community.
01:53We should also create a community, a community consisting of about five members of the Tunapono Corporation,
01:59five members of the community to run and control the trees of honor
02:03so no one could come from where you come from
02:06and tell me how we should control the sacred space.
