During a press briefing on Monday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem spoke about increased ICE presence in New York City following the shooting of an off-duty CBP officer.
Transcript
00:00Yes, sir.
00:22Yeah, we've already had some retired agents that have indicated they'd like to come back and help.
00:26They love the opportunity to come back and work for an agency that's allowed to do its job.
00:30Under this administration, President Trump is allowing our ICE and our CBP officers,
00:35our law enforcement officers to do their jobs again, and that's reinvigorating them
00:39and their desire to want to be a part of a team where someone's got their backs.
00:43What we'll do in a city like this is we'll double down.
00:45We'll put more agents here.
00:47We'll put more personnel here.
00:48We'll give them more equipment, more training for situations where they may have to go into a dangerous neighborhood
00:54where local law enforcement won't be there to have their backs.
00:57And we'll continue to talk to the public about the truth of what we're doing.
01:01The media has lied over and over and over again about what President Trump has given us
01:06as the Russians do in this country that comes to cripple illegal aliens.
01:10We have prioritized them.
01:12They are our targets.
01:13We're going to go after those individuals that are perpetuating crimes in our country
01:17and remove them and get them out and have them face consequences for what they're doing.
01:22So what you will see when you have a mayor like this, a city council like this,
01:25that's allowing their people to be victimized is that we will follow through on our promises.
01:31We'll put more people here, more agents, more resources,
01:33and we'll have more federal agencies deployed in task force models
01:39so that they can go out and do their operations and do them safely.
01:41We'll see you next time.
