00:00Well, some of us saw quite a bit of rainfall over the last 24 hours, and pockets.
00:03That rain continues today. Should wrap up early this afternoon.
00:06We're in for some cool weather for mid-July, and heat may be back next week.
00:21So, rainfall, it really depends upon where you were.
00:24South Metro was one kind of bullseye, and then northwestern Wisconsin and up around
00:28portions of the North Shore saw several inches of rain in some spots.
00:32But generally, most metro amounts were about an inch to an inch and a half.
00:36But, yeah, you get into Scott and Dakota counties here, we had up to three, four inches of rain for some places here
00:44over quite a large area. There was even an urban and small stream advisory earlier this morning.
00:50And then around the Duluth areas, too, one to three inches of rainfall.
00:53And then northwestern Wisconsin, just north of Gordon and Cable, a wide swath of potentially five to six inches of some rainfall.
01:00So, scattered showers continue into the early afternoon, tapering off up towards the North Shore.
01:05Still some spotty showers, but generally a drier break once we head into the mid to late afternoon and evening hours.
01:11Additional rainfall will generally be fairly light, under a half inch.
01:15Though, southeastern Minnesota is still seeing some of those heavier totals, maybe an inch plus for some spots there as it winds down.
01:22But it's going to be cool today.
01:24The high was at midnight at 71 degrees.
01:26We're going to be mostly in the 60s through the day, even just 50s up around the North Shore.
01:31That is cool for mid-July.
01:33This is the hottest period of the year, the hottest two-week period on average, at least.
01:37Look at the temperatures by the evening might slip into the 50s in the Twin Cities before the sun sets.
01:42It's going to feel like fall.
01:43We've got some much drier air moving in, too.
01:45Cool Canadian high pressure is going to wash away the cloud cover overnight.
01:49So, sunshine is back tomorrow.
01:51Pleasant.
01:52We're going to be in the low to mid-70s, but with very dry air, it will make it feel much cooler.
01:56It's the humidity that really does factor almost as equally as the temperature does and how it feels out there.
02:02So, when we get dew points in the 40s to low 50s, which we will have tomorrow afternoon,
02:06it's going to make that 74, 75 degrees feel much cooler than a 75-degree reading we've had in recent weeks
02:13when you've got those higher dew points.
02:14So, tonight, temperatures will be in the 40s across northern Minnesota, low 50s in southern Minnesota.
02:19And highs tomorrow, very pleasant, as I mentioned, with the sunshine low to mid-70s,
02:23but with that dry air and a little bit of a breeze, it will definitely feel more like mid-September than the summer.
02:29Next, disturbance brings showers already Friday morning to northern Minnesota,
02:32and then probably not until the evening and overnight here for southern Minnesota.
02:37And this is going to be a quick-moving system.
02:38Looks like it will be out of here by Saturday morning, making for a pleasant weekend.
02:42Temperatures will be closer to normal, closer to 80 degrees again, and mainly dry.
02:46But we're going to see heat domes start to build here in the central U.S.
02:49It looks like next week.
02:50And we're going to be on the northern edge of it.
02:52So, that's going to set us up for potentially a somewhat active pattern, at least nationally.
02:57The hottest air will be just to our south and southwest next week.
03:00This is midweek temperatures.
03:02And it's going to get more humid again, too.
03:04So, already by Sunday, you'll notice some higher dew points, stickier in the 60s.
03:07But by Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday next week, dew points will be back well into the 70s.
03:11The Gulf of Mexico will be open for business.
03:13And it's that time of year where we get these overnight low-level jet streams to develop,
03:184,000 feet above the ground or so.
03:20And when we're on the edge of the heat, that means we're in this kind of ring-of-fire pattern.
03:23All the little disturbances go up and around the heat dome.
03:26So, it's going to be warmer and more humid.
03:28But because we're going to be on that northern edge, we're going to have some occasional shower
03:31and thunderstorm chances, especially maybe in the nighttime hours.
03:34So, afternoon highs today, just about 69 degrees or so.
03:38Very nice tomorrow for mid-September.
03:41But for mid-July, that 75 degrees will feel kind of cool with that drier air.
03:47Friday, the clouds increase, a little warmer.
03:49Again, overnight showers, mostly Friday night.
03:51But most of Saturday afternoon and Sunday look pretty nice.
03:54Near 80 with the sunshine breaking back out.
03:57And then, yeah, we're marching up those temperatures and dew points again by Tuesday.
04:01Back towards 90 degrees again.
04:02Could be our 10th one of the season.
