00:00Well, a lingering upper-level low is bringing clouds and showers today.
00:03Enjoy the sunshine tomorrow.
00:05Temperatures jump up into the 80s,
00:06because after that we're back into an unsettled pattern
00:08with a couple of rounds of storms later this week.
00:21So we have our stubborn upper-level low.
00:23We've had a series of these lately in the last couple weeks.
00:25This is what gives us the cool, gloomy weather,
00:28the clouds and some of those spotty showers.
00:30It'll be exiting the area tonight, but kind of a miserable Monday
00:34with more September-like, late September-like conditions here.
00:38Spotty hit-and-miss showers, mix of clouds and sun,
00:41more clouds than sun, but some peaks of sunshine.
00:44But we will see more sun as we head into tomorrow.
00:46Temperatures today will be warming up only into the upper 60s for southern Minnesota,
00:50upper 50s in northern Minnesota, so that is below normal by about 10 degrees or so.
00:54But those clouds will break up as we head into the overnight.
00:56Peaks of sun, as I mentioned, this afternoon, but then tonight the clouds move out.
01:00We should see sunshine tomorrow, and that's going to warm things up dramatically here.
01:0480s across southern Minnesota, but get out and enjoy it, because it's not going to last long.
01:09Much of Wednesday will be pretty good.
01:10The clouds will increase, though, yet again.
01:12And we're in for kind of a stormy pattern late Wednesday into Thursday and Friday.
01:16But low to mid-80s for highs tomorrow.
01:18It could be near 90 out on the Buffalo Ridge, 70s in the northern part of the state.
01:22But, yeah, total rainfall here of one to two-plus inches for southern Minnesota Wednesday night into Thursday and Friday.
01:29So it's going to get a little stormy and wet around here.
01:32No concerns of drought for the immediate future because of that.
01:35We're going to have this stalled front.
01:36So this is late Wednesday where that boundary will be.
01:38You can see the winds, surface winds out of the north-northeast on our side of it,
01:42and then out of the south across Iowa and Nebraska.
01:45That's where the real moisture will be.
01:46And just ahead of it, just north of it, is where we'll see thunderstorms develop here a couple rounds.
01:51So late Wednesday, we've got an upper-level disturbance that will take advantage of that front, some showers and thunderstorms.
01:57And then, again, mainly Thursday night, we'll see another upper-level disturbance take advantage of that boundary that will be still sitting in our area.
02:05Highest dew points will be to the south.
02:08We're talking 60s dew points.
02:10Occasionally, we'll get some of that sticky air here.
02:11But you can really see where that warm front is based on the moisture, and that is going to be key
02:16because when we're looking at the potential for severe weather, that front is probably going to be a little too far south
02:21to bring us much here on the Minnesota side of the border.
02:24But we are going to see low-level jet stream.
02:26These are winds at about 4,000 feet above the ground.
02:29They accelerate at night, and that helps transport that heat and moisture to our south further north
02:35to create showers and thunderstorms, but elevated so we don't really get the severe risk as much out of it.
02:40And this is showing the precipitable water content.
02:42We're going to see two to three times the normal value of water content.
02:46But, again, the instability, that cape for severe thunderstorms, convective available potential energy,
02:51really stays at or south of that warm front.
02:53And you can see it just doesn't really nudge much into Minnesota.
02:55So more garden-variety showers and thunderstorms, but the potential of some heavy rain.
03:00So Wednesday evening, the first round, during the day, Thursday, mainly dry.
03:04But then Thursday night into early Friday, that second round develops.
03:07And that one could be more potent.
03:08And that one could really deliver the heavier rainfall and then should slowly move out of here Friday night.
03:14The weekend looks much better.
03:16Still lingering clouds on Saturday, but at least it looks as though the rain and thunder will be done.
03:21But staying in the 60s today, those spotty afternoon showers, lots of clouds.
03:25Bright tomorrow.
03:27Enjoy it.
03:2783 degrees.
03:28Get some vitamin D.
03:29We'll have sun in the morning Wednesday, but clouds will increase.
03:32And we'll see the first round of storms Wednesday evening.
03:35And then again, that second round of more potentially heavier showers and thunderstorms Thursday night into early Friday.
03:41Another kind of gloomy day Friday with the clouds hanging on.
03:44And then brighter, warmer for the weekend.
03:46Still quite a few clouds on Saturday, but it does look dry at least.
03:50And then Sunday should be a little brighter and several degrees warmer as a result of that.
03:54Lindsay showed up shortly as well.
