00:00Well, the immigration war is really heating up now in this country,
00:04and I don't know if even President Trump can take on Superman.
00:08Also, well, an alien.
00:11Yes, yes.
00:13And he was undocumented when he arrived.
00:15But yes, Superman is, in a way, getting involved,
00:19or at least the man who is directing the new Superman movie
00:23has brought the Man of Steel into the immigration debate.
00:27Not on the screen.
00:28Not on the screen.
00:29After they shot it, now he's using it.
00:31Yes.
00:32James Gunn did an interview where he said that Superman is at its heart
00:38about an immigrant and basic human kindness.
00:42So clearly he wanted to posture the plot as, you know,
00:49being relevant to what's the discussions in America right now.
00:52But when they shot this, it was before.
00:55It was during the election.
00:57And a lot of people, especially on the left, felt Kamala Harris was going to win.
01:02So it's not like they shot the movie with that intention
01:06because this wasn't happening when it was shot.
01:10So you don't see it on the screen.
01:12When you go see the movie, it's not going to be all about immigration and all that.
01:16But he's recast it this way.
01:18Certainly.
01:19Well, that is not sitting well with a former Superman.
01:22Dean Cain saw James Gunn's comments,
01:25and this is what he had to say about the new Superman,
01:28or at least the man directing the new Superman.
01:30How woke is Hollywood going to make this character?
01:33How much is Disney going to change their Snow White?
01:36How much are they, why are they going to change these characters that exist,
01:39you know, for the times?
01:41Superman has always stood for truth, justice, the American way.
01:44And the American way is immigrant friendly, tremendously immigrant friendly.
01:50But there are rules.
01:51I think that was a mistake by James Gunn to say,
01:53you know, it's an immigrant thing.
01:54And I think it's going to hurt the numbers on the movie.
01:56I was excited for the film.
01:59I'm excited to see what it is,
02:00because James Gunn seems to have a sense of humor,
02:02and the last iterations of Superman didn't have much humor.
02:05And I love the humor in Superman.
02:07So I'm rooting for it to be a success,
02:10but I don't like that last political comment.
02:12That's really interesting.
02:14Yeah.
02:14It seems that he didn't...
02:15He didn't boycott.
02:17Right, exactly.
02:17I'm glad he didn't do that.
02:18He didn't come out and say, I'm boycotting the film.
02:21It was a measured response, really, from Dean Cain.
02:24It was.
02:24Yes, and Dean Cain is much more conservative, obviously, than James Gunn.
02:29Yes.
02:30And guys, the other thing, too, that was super frustrating that he told us was like,
02:33why now?
02:34The film is only a few days away.
02:36This might very well hurt it at the box office by souring some fans.
02:41Why not just let it be?
02:42His point was, some art can just be art.
02:45It can just be fun.
02:46And that's what Superman is supposed to be.
02:48It's just supposed to be fun.
02:49Everyone's allowed their own opinion, of course.
02:51But you're also running a business, and you want big box office returns.
02:55Probably stay away from the politics, especially while the climate is so incredibly hot.
03:00You know, you're right, Ryan, that everyone is allowed their opinion.
03:02But some opinions are just wrong, and we just have to say it.
03:06And I want to call out whoever is in the control room.
03:10I don't know if, I don't know, can we get a camera in there?
03:11I have no idea what's going on here.
03:13Look over here.
03:14See that?
03:15Look at what?
03:16Who in there thinks that the OG Superman?
03:19Oh, oh.
03:19I'm looking at the screen.
03:20I didn't know what you were doing.
03:21Well, I didn't know what you were doing.
03:23There are at least three other people who came before Dean Cain.
03:27Dean Cain would tell you.
03:28Mr. Reeves, and I'm not talking Christopher.
03:31Uh-huh.
03:32I mean, guys, take it out right now.
03:35I mean, we'll wait.
03:36Take it out right now.
03:37We will wait.
03:38You know what?
03:38Take it out.
03:39Take it out.
03:39We will pull this car over right now.
03:41Take it out.
03:41Until you take out.
03:43There you go.
