Private Hell 36 is a 1954 American crime film noir directed by Don Siegel starring Ida Lupino, Steve Cochran, Howard Duff, Dean Jagger and Dorothy Malone.
The picture was one of the last feature-length efforts by Filmakers, an independent company created by producer Collier Young and his star and then-wife Ida Lupino.

Plot: In New York, a bank robbery of $300,000 goes unsolved for a year, until some of the marked bills are found in a Los Angeles drugstore theft. 00:00:00You
00:00:30The crime, murder.
00:00:49The motive, money.
00:00:50$300,000, which never reached the bank's night depository.
00:00:55The place, New York City.
00:00:56The killer and the money vanished to a slick, cold-blooded job.
00:01:03Not until a year later, in the city of Los Angeles, did the case suddenly come alive again.
00:01:11Detective Sergeant Calvin Bruner, working out a robbery detail, Los Angeles Police Department,
00:01:17had checked off duty for the night, was on the way home, when his trained eyes and ears stopped him.
00:01:26He was a homeless man.
00:01:27He came.
00:01:29He came.
00:01:50It's not gonna be my compel.
00:03:53This is a police officer.
00:03:58Come out in the open.
00:03:59Put your hands up.
00:04:00I said come out in the open.
00:04:24All right.
00:04:27Don't shoot.
00:04:28Don't shoot.
00:04:32Drop that gun.
00:04:37Now come over here.
00:04:38Keep your hands up.
00:04:48Keep your hands up.
00:04:48Keep your hands up.
00:05:09Captain.
00:05:39Captain.
00:05:47Robbery division. Farnham speaking.
00:05:51Would you say his name once again, ma'am?
00:05:54Yes, ma'am. We have your husband on a robbery charge.
00:05:57Now, he's not receiving business tonight. Call in tomorrow.
00:06:00What are you doing here?
00:06:03I was on my way home and going by this drug store.
00:06:06I saw this character and a pal of his taking over the joint.
00:06:10Sit down here.
00:06:11How, do you feel all right?
00:06:13Yeah, sure. I never felt better.
00:06:15Take everything out of your pockets and put it on the desk here.
00:06:17I thought you had a date.
00:06:19Huh? No. I thought I did, didn't I?
00:06:21Well, I guess I'm gonna be late.
00:06:24This is one of the guys from the drug store, Lieutenant.
00:06:26The other's on his way to the morgue.
00:06:27All right.
00:06:32The fruits of honest toil, no doubt.
00:06:36Anything wrong with them?
00:06:38Charlie Bowman got it.
00:06:44I don't feel so good.
00:06:45Shut up.
00:06:46Where did it happen?
00:06:47Boyle Heights, a couple of hours ago.
00:06:49Tried to break up a gang fight.
00:06:52Does his wife know about?
00:06:53Yep.
00:06:56I had the pleasure of telling her.
00:06:57That's too bad.
00:06:59Well, give me a doctor, will you?
00:07:01Shut up!
00:07:02I'm glad I got the other creep anyway.
00:07:08Look, uh, why don't you go ahead and wash up?
00:07:12I'll book him.
00:07:13Sure you don't mind?
00:07:14No, go on.
00:07:15Okay.
00:07:16See you in the locker room.
00:07:19All right.
00:07:20Start telling the lieutenant your life story.
00:07:22Look, honest, I got the shakes.
00:07:25Give me a doctor, will you?
00:07:28Never mind, Dad.
00:07:29What's your name?
00:07:31Anthony Surovich.
00:07:34Where do you live?
00:07:35I'm at Transient.
00:07:37Who's your partner?
00:07:39I've driven something like now.
00:07:41You know, some people can remember faces that can't remember names.
00:07:45Sometimes I remember both.
00:07:47It's a gift.
00:07:48The last time you paid us a visit, it was Jake Lamont.
00:07:51Lost some weight since then business bad.
00:07:57My name is Anthony Surovich.
00:08:00Where'd you get the role?
00:08:02Took it off the guy that runs the drug store.
00:08:05Fifty dollars.
00:08:06You know, he's an old money pusher.
00:08:08That could be counterfeit or it might be hot.
00:08:11I'll check it with Stimson.
00:08:13He's all yours.
00:08:17Let's go.
00:08:20Got another way by now.
00:08:22Come on.
00:08:33How do you like that?
00:08:34Look at that.
00:08:35You don't remember when I got this suit.
00:08:36When was it different?
00:08:37Yesterday.
00:08:38That miserable creep.
00:08:40Good thing it didn't go through you.
00:08:43Yeah.
00:08:46I could have been laid out tonight next to Bowman.
00:08:49Hmm.
00:08:50Only yesterday Bowman was telling me that he made his last payment on his car.
00:08:54That's something, isn't it?
00:08:56Ah, stop taking it so hard.
00:08:58He wasn't your brother.
00:08:59Nope.
00:09:01Just a nice guy.
00:09:05Dame I know gets me this stuff wholesale.
00:09:07Old Oak.
00:09:08Not too bad, huh?
00:09:10Stinks.
00:09:13Tell you one thing.
00:09:14I'd rather be Bowman any day than alive and pushing a desk like Lubin.
00:09:17Lubin doesn't catch any slugs where he's sitting.
00:09:20Yeah.
00:09:21It's all in a day's work.
00:09:22Yeah.
00:09:23Sure.
00:09:24Just can't afford to make a mistake.
00:09:26That's right.
00:09:27Bowman probably got a little careless, that's all.
00:09:30Sometimes I wonder what would happen to Francie and the kid if I got a little careless.
00:09:35Uh, knock it off, Jack.
00:09:37I can't afford to lose you.
00:09:39Think you can find time to go to Bowman's funeral?
00:09:41Oh, yeah, sure.
00:09:42Maybe I'll wear my new gray suit.
00:09:43Oh, yes.
00:09:44He'll love that.
00:09:45Sometimes I wonder why we go study.
00:09:46Because I'm irresistible.
00:09:47What am I going to tell Baby this time?
00:09:48Tell her you're sorry, but you had to shoot a man.
00:09:49If she loves you, she'll understand.
00:09:50Bruner.
00:09:51Farnham.
00:09:52See Captain Michaels before you leave.
00:09:53That ties it.
00:09:54I wonder what the old man wants now.
00:09:55Probably wants you to take over his job.
00:09:59Yesterday there was a $50 bill on what they took, all right.
00:10:01You sure about that?
00:10:02Yes, sir.
00:10:03Tom, I think it's his bedtime.
00:10:06I'm sorry.
00:10:07Why?
00:10:08I'm sorry.
00:10:09I'm sorry.
00:10:10You're sorry.
00:10:11I'm sorry.
00:10:12I'm sorry.
00:10:13But you had to shoot a man.
00:10:14If she loves you, she'll understand.
00:10:15Bruner.
00:10:16Farnham.
00:10:17See Captain Michaels before you leave.
00:10:18That ties it.
00:10:19What the old man wants now?
00:10:20Probably wants you to take over his job.
00:10:22I'll just keep the toys here.
00:10:28Now, Mr. Mays, I hate to bother you, but you see, we have to know where you got this $50.
00:10:33Can you remember?
00:10:35Yes, sir.
00:10:36I remember.
00:10:37A customer, a man I'd seen several times before, came in tonight.
00:10:40Tonight?
00:10:41Yes, sir.
00:10:42I was just getting ready to close up.
00:10:44Well, anyway, he seemed to be in some pain.
00:10:47So I filled a couple of doctor's prescriptions for him.
00:10:50Said he had a gallbladder condition.
00:10:53Uh-huh.
00:10:54He's the one that gave you this bill?
00:10:55Oh, yes, sir.
00:10:56I remember because I had a hard time making change for that much.
00:10:59Anything else you remember about him?
00:11:01Of course, with every prescription, there's a name, isn't there?
00:11:04You recall what it was?
00:11:05No, sir.
00:11:06No, I don't recall offhand.
00:11:08But I can check the prescription unless slips.
00:11:11He was grousing about having to go back to work the way he felt.
00:11:15He said he worked at a club, a bartender, the Emerald Club.
00:11:20Emerald Club?
00:11:21Yes, sir.
00:11:22Uh-huh.
00:11:23Do you know where that is?
00:11:25No, sir.
00:11:26Now, Mr. Mays, we have to ask you a funny kind of favor.
00:11:30See, we have to put this bill into evidence.
00:11:33So we'd like to keep it here for a while.
00:11:35Of course, you'll get another one just as good.
00:11:38All right.
00:11:39Yes, sure.
00:11:40I guess it's all right.
00:11:42Fifty dollars is pretty cheap for what you did for me.
00:11:45Oh, we don't charge for this kind of service.
00:11:48So we'll just consider this alone, shall we?
00:11:52Oh.
00:11:53Now, the rest of this you can have back.
00:11:55I think there's a hundred and twenty-three dollars here.
00:11:58Can you get home all right?
00:12:00You got a car?
00:12:01Thanks.
00:12:03I sure owe you a lot.
00:12:05If there's anything else I can do, I...
00:12:06You know, there is something that you can do.
00:12:08I wish you'd go back to your drugstore tonight
00:12:11and get the name on those prescription slips and phone it in.
00:12:14Will you do that?
00:12:15Sure.
00:12:18Could I, uh, have somebody go with me?
00:12:21I think we can arrange that.
00:12:22I'll take care of it, Captain.
00:12:23Okay, fine.
00:12:24We'll get the name.
00:12:25Well, good night.
00:12:26Good night.
00:12:32Boys?
00:12:33Yes, sir?
00:12:34Ruben checked this bill, and as you probably suspect, it's hot.
00:12:38Huh?
00:12:39It belongs to that elevator homicide job in New York.
00:12:41I just talked to him back there, and some of the money, not too much of it,
00:12:45is showing up in Miami, and there's some in, uh, Las Vegas.
00:12:48They want us to follow up here.
00:12:50So?
00:12:51Bruner?
00:12:52Okay.
00:12:53You and Farnham, take this on.
00:12:54See what turns up.
00:12:55Yes, sir.
00:12:56You hold the stakes.
00:12:57Captain.
00:12:58Now go find me a bartender with gallbladder trouble.
00:13:01Good night, Captain.
00:13:02Uh, Bruner?
00:13:03Yes, sir?
00:13:05You took a long chance tonight, and you won.
00:13:09Next time, play it safe, huh?
00:13:11Right.
00:13:12Good night now, boys.
00:13:13Keep in touch.
00:13:14We will.
00:13:15If I never did like sending two policemen into a bar...
00:13:17Jack?
00:13:18What?
00:13:19Sorry for the water.
00:13:20I'm sorry I've got a little bit of a bar.
00:13:21Jack?
00:13:34What?
00:13:35What?
00:13:38I'm sorry for the water.
00:13:40Why?
00:13:41I'm sorry for the water.
00:13:42The water.
00:13:43You're the water.
00:13:44I'm sorry for the water.
00:13:46I'm sorry if I woke you.
00:13:48I wasn't asleep.
00:13:53Honey, what are you doing? Checking up on me?
00:13:56Nothing wrong with the babies.
00:13:58No, she's fine.
00:14:02It's me.
00:14:07I guess I'll never be a very good wife for a policeman.
00:14:10Hey, what's all this about?
00:14:13I heard about Charlie Bowman.
00:14:15Ray's called me.
00:14:20Oh, it's so awful.
00:14:22It could have been you.
00:14:25I tried to get you, but you were out.
00:14:27I just want to be sure you're all right.
00:14:30Of course, I'm all right, Charlie.
00:14:32The odds are a thousand to one in my favor.
00:14:35Those are honest figures.
00:14:37I read them last year.
00:14:39I know I'm being silly.
00:14:41You have so much to worry about.
00:14:44Baby me.
00:14:46The house.
00:14:48Oh, but sometimes I wish you were in some other kind of work.
00:14:51Come on now.
00:14:53Doing what I know how to do.
00:14:55What I've been trained for.
00:14:57And I like it.
00:14:59Except on payday.
00:15:01You know, for the first time, my feet hurt.
00:15:06Think I'm getting old.
00:15:10Jack.
00:15:11Hmm?
00:15:12Sometimes when I'm lying here waiting for you, I get panicky.
00:15:17I wonder what I'd do if you didn't come home.
00:15:18I've never heard you talk like this before.
00:15:19I couldn't stand it if anything happened to you.
00:15:20I know I've got the baby.
00:15:21I do love her.
00:15:22I've had you so much longer.
00:15:23Oh, darling, please.
00:15:24C-c-couldn't you get a transfer to something else?
00:15:25Something's so funny.
00:15:26I've had you so much longer.
00:15:27Oh, darling, please.
00:15:28C-couldn't you get a transfer to something else?
00:15:29Something safer.
00:15:30Don't press her luck.
00:15:31OK.
00:15:32I've had you so much longer.
00:15:34Oh, darling, please.
00:15:41Could, couldn't she get a transfer to something else?
00:15:44Something safer.
00:15:47Don't press her luck.
00:15:51Couldn't you get a transfer to something else?
00:15:53Something safer.
00:15:56Don't press her lock.
00:15:59Darling, everything's gonna work out.
00:16:04I'll think of something.
00:16:15Hey, what's all that?
00:16:18You gotta go to sleep, huh?
00:16:21Dad.
00:16:51Hey, we're not open yet. Not till five. Can't you read?
00:16:58It's all right. We're not drinking.
00:17:01Yep.
00:17:03Your name Marvin?
00:17:06How's your gallbladder?
00:17:08We had a talk with a fellow at the drugstore.
00:17:11You gave the man a $50 bill. Is this it?
00:17:15Well, how would I know? I just gave him 50 bucks.
00:17:18There are quite a few of those in circulation.
00:17:21Not like this one.
00:17:23Where'd you get it?
00:17:25What are you guys getting at? What is this?
00:17:27Ah, mind your bladder, Marvin. Just think back.
00:17:30Where'd you get the 50?
00:17:33Borrowed it. From whom?
00:17:36Someone I know.
00:17:39It's a girl. She works here.
00:17:41At what?
00:17:42Well, she sings songs. She has a hat check concession on the side.
00:17:45Mm-hmm. She always good for a 50?
00:17:47I needed that 50 bucks for the doctor. Tips have been lousy.
00:17:50Sure.
00:17:54Hi, Sam.
00:17:57Who are you fretting? Leftovers from last night?
00:18:00They came in to see me, but they want to see you.
00:18:03Oh, well, I don't blame them.
00:18:05What are you boys doing? Wugging up a chain letter?
00:18:08If you don't mind, miss, we'd like to talk to you in a few minutes.
00:18:11No, no, I'm not supposed to sit with the customers.
00:18:14It's all right. We're not customers.
00:18:16We're police officers.
00:18:20Oh.
00:18:29Right over there.
00:18:30We're fine, miss.
00:18:39We just want to ask a few questions, miss.
00:18:40Like what?
00:18:41Like, for a start, what's your name?
00:18:43Lily Marlow.
00:18:45Hope you'll excuse me, but that sounds a little phony.
00:18:48It is.
00:18:49What's your real name?
00:18:50Oh, you know, it's been so long I can't remember. Isn't that silly?
00:18:55Either of you detectives seen a gold cigarette holder around anyway?
00:18:59Never mind.
00:19:00What's your address?
00:19:02305 Sycamore Avenue, Hollywood.
00:19:07Thanks.
00:19:08This is the 50 you gave the bartender.
00:19:13Yes?
00:19:14Listen, we got work to do around here.
00:19:16Now, you fellas can come back later.
00:19:18Now, Lily, you know better...
00:19:19You're the owner?
00:19:20Yeah.
00:19:21Carry on, Sergeant.
00:19:24I'll be my guest.
00:19:25This won't hurt a bit.
00:19:28Where'd you get the 50?
00:19:30You know, I've seen all this on Dragnet.
00:19:31Save the jokes for the customers.
00:19:33Come on, think.
00:19:35It was a tip.
00:19:3910.95 they said.
00:19:41$50 bill is a pretty big tip.
00:19:45What did you do for it?
00:19:47I just put this down in your little book.
00:19:49Ready?
00:19:50Uh-huh.
00:19:51Not what you're thinking.
00:19:54Okay.
00:19:55How did you get it?
00:19:57I have a lovely voice.
00:19:59I sang smoke hits in your eyes five times.
00:20:02He was loaded.
00:20:03Who?
00:20:04The guy who gave me the 50.
00:20:05Who was he?
00:20:06I don't know.
00:20:07I really don't know.
00:20:08Oh, now, come on.
00:20:10Don't put a blackout on me.
00:20:11Who was he?
00:20:12What was his name?
00:20:13Never saw him before or since.
00:20:15I miss a man like that.
00:20:19All right, what did he look like?
00:20:21I didn't notice.
00:20:22You can do better than that.
00:20:24You know, I don't like this kind of work.
00:20:26He was probably a nice guy.
00:20:28But that wouldn't make any difference to you, would it?
00:20:30If he was a nice guy, he's got nothing to worry about.
00:20:32Now, come on, give.
00:20:34Well, he, uh, was bigger than you.
00:20:37Around 40, dark hair.
00:20:40Mm-hmm.
00:20:41Anything else?
00:20:42Any distinguishing marks, like, uh, scars or molds on his face or body?
00:20:46How should I know?
00:20:50How about his voice?
00:20:52Any accent?
00:20:54No.
00:20:56Anything else you remember about him?
00:20:58No.
00:21:01Nothing.
00:21:04Uh-uh.
00:21:05Uh, thank you very much.
00:21:09You've been a great help.
00:21:10If he comes back to, uh, hear you sing, please contact us, will you?
00:21:14I want to give you something to remember me by.
00:21:17That's all, Mr. Hoswick.
00:21:18Thanks.
00:21:20Now, that's Sergeant Farnum.
00:21:22We'd appreciate your help.
00:21:24Yes, Sergeant.
00:21:25Anything?
00:21:26Anything?
00:21:27No.
00:21:28Miss Marlow doesn't seem to care for police officers.
00:21:31Can't understand why.
00:21:32Oh, just certain cops.
00:21:34Uh, anything else I can do for you gentlemen?
00:21:36You'd like me to sing something?
00:21:37We'd love it, but, uh, we can't afford it.
00:21:45He makes a bad impression at first, but he loves you.
00:21:48Believe me.
00:22:03Uh...
00:22:07What do we look for now?
00:22:09First we look for a haystack, then we look for a needle.
00:22:18What do we look for now?
00:22:33Hello.
00:22:35Don't you think you've given the taxpayers their money's worth for one night?
00:22:39Aren't you going to invite me in?
00:22:41No.
00:22:43Well, at least the Pop's friendly.
00:22:44All right, Murgatroyd.
00:22:49Beat it.
00:22:50Don't be long now.
00:22:56Look, if you've got time to kill,
00:22:58why don't you blow your whistle and arrest somebody?
00:23:01I think you forgot something.
00:23:05I don't know what you had in mind, but I'm gonna take a shower.
00:23:08I'm afraid that'll have to wait a little while.
00:23:15I don't know.
00:23:19Make yourself comfortable.
00:23:21Now, why don't you really try to remember what he looked like?
00:23:24Who?
00:23:26The man who gave you the 50 bucks.
00:23:29How long have you known him?
00:23:32All my life.
00:23:34Ever since I was a little girl,
00:23:36I dreamed of me to drunken slob in a bar who'd give me 50 bucks,
00:23:39and we'd live happily ever after.
00:23:45It's stuffy in here.
00:23:59Do I pass?
00:24:05Detective dear,
00:24:08I'm gonna tell you a little bedtime story.
00:24:11Once upon a time there was a girl,
00:24:14she could have been my twin,
00:24:16who got into trouble in a big city far away.
00:24:20She was framed for something she didn't do.
00:24:23So today she doesn't go in for framing other people.
00:24:28Do you feel the point?
00:24:30At the end of your story?
00:24:32Yeah.
00:24:35Nobody's gonna be framed.
00:24:36Now, why don't you try real hard to remember?
00:24:40See if you can't come up with something good for me to go on.
00:24:43Hmm?
00:24:45You know, withholding information from the police
00:24:48could, uh,
00:24:50get you in all sorts of trouble.
00:24:53I like to keep my job at the club.
00:24:55I get hungry three times a day.
00:24:58You keep eating.
00:25:00Now, come on, think back.
00:25:02Well, all right, he had a mustache.
00:25:03Thin one.
00:25:07When he gave me the 50 bucks,
00:25:08I told him I thought it was a pretty good tip.
00:25:10He said he could afford it
00:25:12because he had a good day at the track.
00:25:15Will you buy that?
00:25:17Yeah, sure, for now.
00:25:19See, you had this set for 12.
00:25:21Let's make it about 8.30, huh?
00:25:23Appreciate it if you came down to police headquarters
00:25:25about, uh, 9.15.
00:25:27Looked over our picture gallery.
00:25:29And, uh,
00:25:32wear something simple.
00:25:41Uh,
00:25:43I'll pick you up myself.
00:25:45You've been grand.
00:25:47I just don't know how to thank you.
00:25:49I bet you do.
00:25:50Come in.
00:25:55Guys, come in.
00:25:56Well,
00:25:59any luck, Miss Marlowe?
00:26:01Mm-mm.
00:26:02She checked all the mug shots in R&I.
00:26:04And?
00:26:05Nothing.
00:26:06Well, that figures, doesn't it?
00:26:08I mean, if he only works in New York,
00:26:09he wouldn't be in our files.
00:26:11Uh, sit down, uh, Miss Marlowe, please.
00:26:13Thanks.
00:26:14You know, I, uh, telegraphed the description
00:26:16that you gave us to New York,
00:26:18and we hope it may help them back there
00:26:20to, uh, come up with some new evidence.
00:26:22I also sent out a special bulletin to stores,
00:26:24the racetrack, and banks,
00:26:26and suggested they put on a special watch.
00:26:29See, you've given us a lead, Miss Marlowe.
00:26:32It's, uh,
00:26:33it's kind of slim,
00:26:35but still something.
00:26:37Bruna tells me you, uh,
00:26:39you'd be willing to help.
00:26:41Oh, well, Bruna tells me I haven't got any choice.
00:26:44Well, that isn't exactly true.
00:26:49However, I think I should explain to you,
00:26:51we're looking for more than money in this case.
00:26:54We're looking for a killer.
00:26:56Now, the man who gave you that $50 bill may be the one.
00:26:59And there's no one, at least that we know of,
00:27:02can identify him for sure, except you.
00:27:05And if we should spot him, he could be dangerous.
00:27:09Of course, you'll have plenty of protection at all times.
00:27:13Uh, thanks, Captain.
00:27:15But you know, I think I'll just sit this one out.
00:27:17You see, I'm no good during the daytime.
00:27:18My eyes hurt.
00:27:20I work nights, you know.
00:27:22So I think I'll just toddle back to bed.
00:27:25Excuse me.
00:27:31Yes?
00:27:32Lubin, Captain.
00:27:34Things are getting hot.
00:27:35I've got a report from Hollywood Park on that New York job.
00:27:39Two 20s and a 50 came in.
00:27:40What's our next move?
00:27:42I'll call you back.
00:27:46Well, Miss Barlow, you, uh, you heard that.
00:27:49Mm-hmm.
00:27:50And?
00:27:52I wish I'd never seen that 50.
00:27:54Well, I'm glad you did, because, you know, let's face it,
00:27:57unless you help us, we don't have much to go on.
00:28:00What about it now?
00:28:01Will you go out to the park with the boys here
00:28:02and take a chance that you might, uh, just see this fella?
00:28:06Mm.
00:28:08Close that, uh, that blind.
00:28:09The sun's right in her eyes.
00:28:11Oh, never mind. Leave him like that.
00:28:12Guess I'd better get used to it.
00:28:14Oh, and you can save that speech about being a good citizen, Captain.
00:28:19Crazy about horses.
00:28:20Crazy about horses.
00:28:50Crazy about horses.
00:28:51Crazy about horses.
00:28:52Crazy about horses,
00:29:18Excuse me, do you have a match?
00:29:31Sure.
00:29:48Sergeant, five days has been enough.
00:29:51I resign.
00:29:52Take it easy, baby.
00:29:53We've got track security men all over the place.
00:29:56The guy wouldn't have a chance.
00:29:58Look, why don't you look around over the $10 window, huh?
00:30:01And stop worrying.
00:30:03Jack and I are watching you too.
00:30:05Bye.
00:30:18Five on eight.
00:30:40Five on number eight.
00:30:48The horses are nearing the starting gate.
00:31:15Number eight, please.
00:31:22Oh, boy.
00:31:27Number eight, please.
00:31:39Well, two more races.
00:31:41Oh, you know, I work nights too.
00:31:44Well, how about me, honey?
00:31:45Don't I come in the club every night?
00:31:47Never leave your sign for a minute.
00:31:49No, he might come back to hear you sing.
00:31:52Mm-hmm.
00:31:53Hello.
00:31:54I'm Looney.
00:31:55I'm Looney.
00:31:56I'm Looney.
00:31:57At the start, they have a lead-up booth breaking on top.
00:31:59Hit and load a second.
00:32:00Root squall start.
00:32:01Greg Zabby is full.
00:32:02Hi, Mr. Reliable.
00:32:04Okay.
00:32:05Even about a trash.
00:32:06It's Greg Zabby drawing out by two and a half links.
00:32:08Hit and load a second by two.
00:32:10Favorite date moving up on the outside.
00:32:12Followed by a roll mount down, Mr. Reliable.
00:32:15In.
00:32:16Did you see those diamonds?
00:32:19Yes, honey, but we're not looking for diamonds.
00:32:22I am.
00:32:24And Winston.
00:32:25Five three-quarters of a link.
00:32:26Favorite date second by a length and a half.
00:32:28Root squall third by a length and a half.
00:32:30And two seconds, finish four.
00:32:32Sucker.
00:32:33The phone response came into the dynamic urging
00:32:34of talking around thieves in the final seat.
00:32:47She must be tired.
00:32:48Yeah.
00:32:49Yeah.
00:32:57It's not a bad name.
00:32:58What kind of talk is that for a married man?
00:33:01Can't stand much more of this steak, huh?
00:33:02What do you mean?
00:33:04You know, there's this much money in the world.
00:33:07Those people throw it around like it was confetti.
00:33:10Yeah, I know what you mean.
00:33:11You know, someday I'm gonna come out here on my own time
00:33:13with a wad of dough and a gal like...
00:33:16Like Lily, maybe?
00:33:17Yeah, maybe.
00:33:18Yeah, maybe.
00:33:19Brancy would like to have you come out of the house on Monday night
00:33:21for dinner.
00:33:22Bring somebody.
00:33:23How about it?
00:33:24Monday?
00:33:25Yeah.
00:33:26Sure, I'd like it.
00:33:27Why don't you ask Lily?
00:33:28Maybe I might just do that.
00:33:29Maybe I might just do that.
00:33:30I want you to know.
00:33:31I could never feel as others do.
00:33:35And even though I may kiss you,
00:33:42I could always let you go.
00:34:11For I've told my heart that I'll never fall in love.
00:34:19Didn't.
00:34:21Oh, didn't you know?
00:34:41Yeah.
00:34:52Ooh.
00:34:53Ooh.
00:34:55Ooh.
00:34:56Ooh.
00:34:58Ooh.
00:35:00Ooh.
00:35:03Ooh.
00:35:05We won the fourth race.
00:35:21Go ahead. Knock off again.
00:35:23Do you good.
00:35:25I'd love to, but if I do, I'll never get up.
00:35:30See, I'd look great turning up to the track in this outfit, wouldn't I?
00:35:35Thanks.
00:35:43Oh, I'm so stiff.
00:35:44Here, here, let me do that.
00:35:46Turn around.
00:35:47Come on.
00:35:52Just relax.
00:35:58Oh, Sergeant, dear, that feels great.
00:36:02Just what I need.
00:36:03Thanks.
00:36:08These last three days, I've learned a lot about you.
00:36:11What?
00:36:13It happens tough as you like people to think you are.
00:36:16Can you guess my age and weight, too?
00:36:18You need somebody to take over, look after you once in a while.
00:36:27Only, you couldn't give in to that, could you?
00:36:31You know, somewhere in my dim past, I seem to have heard this before.
00:36:34I've said it before, to all sizes and all shapes.
00:36:39Only, with you, I mean it.
00:36:45Don't ask me why.
00:36:48All right, I won't.
00:36:51What time is it?
00:36:52What time is it?
00:36:53Uh, 315.
00:36:54Oh, no.
00:37:00You ever been married?
00:37:02Yeah, I tried it once.
00:37:04When I was 18.
00:37:06Well?
00:37:07Why, he's a great guy.
00:37:11Broke.
00:37:12Never sober.
00:37:13One day, he went on the wagon, took a look at me, and thought I was his first wife.
00:37:18Now, I've grown up since then.
00:37:21Crazy about money now.
00:37:22Isn't that awful?
00:37:24No.
00:37:25Of course, I haven't struck gold, but I haven't given up hope, either.
00:37:30There's a man figure in this?
00:37:33Yeah, man figures.
00:37:35If he likes the things I like, and can afford them.
00:37:42Well, I've pulled up lame.
00:37:44Gonna have to let this one go.
00:37:49Yeah.
00:37:50This time, I mean it.
00:38:03Okay.
00:38:22Yeah.
00:38:24Okay.
00:38:2850 showed up after the last race.
00:38:30Somebody bought one ticket, got $40 and change.
00:38:33There was a big rush at the last minute,
00:38:35so I didn't get a chance to check until after the race.
00:38:38Let's, uh, circulate, hmm?
00:38:40Come on, baby.
00:38:41Come on.
00:38:42Come on.
00:38:43Come on.

00:39:04What?
00:39:05Take these and look up there in the stands.
00:39:07See what you see.
00:39:08Over there.
00:39:09All right.
00:39:16You know I'm gonna be a little bit sorry when this case is over?
00:39:19You're getting to be a habit with me.
00:39:20Day and night.
00:39:23See anything?
00:39:25No.
00:39:28You gonna miss me?
00:39:31Right now I'm too tired to know.
00:39:35You kinda liked that diamond bracelet on that old gal yesterday, didn't you?
00:39:39Loved it.
00:39:41Guess I'm gonna have to start saving my money.
00:39:44You do that, hmm?
00:39:45Well, let's mix a little, huh?
00:39:47Well, let's mix a little, huh?
00:39:48All right, huh?
00:39:49All right, huh?
00:39:50All right.
00:42:46Let's go.
00:43:16Let's go.
00:43:46Let's go.
00:43:52What are you doing?
00:44:05Relax.
00:44:06Let's take it easy.
00:44:12Now, get the loose ones back on top.
00:44:16Are you crazy?
00:44:17I'm gonna phone in.
00:44:18Give me that.
00:44:19No.
00:44:20Go on back.
00:44:21It's police officers.
00:44:22Go on.
00:44:23Now, keep their rug clear.
00:44:26Go on back.
00:44:27It's police officers.
00:44:28Go on.

00:45:42Uh-huh.
00:45:43Sure was a big guy.
00:45:45Mm-hmm. Is this the box?
00:45:57Yes, sir.
00:46:03Is this where it landed?
00:46:04Yeah, just about there, Captain.
00:46:07Did you get a chance to count it?
00:46:08No, no. We were picking the step up all over the canyon here.
00:46:12What time did it happen?
00:46:13About, uh, I guess about $6.15, $30, $40.
00:46:16You've gone over everything in here.
00:46:18What about these bags? You check these?
00:46:21Yes, sir.
00:46:28Well, here you are, Captain.
00:46:30Nothing else, huh?
00:46:32No, that's all.
00:46:33Can we move the body?
00:46:35Go ahead.
00:46:35All right.
00:46:39$600 or $700.
00:46:43This identification's probably forged or stolen.
00:46:46Edgar H. Brown, it says here.
00:46:48Why don't you boys knock off?
00:46:50You put in a good day's work.
00:46:51Fine. Thanks.
00:46:52You want any money at the track?
00:46:54No, we were a little busy.
00:46:56Okay, see you later.
00:46:57Right.
00:46:58Good night.
00:46:58Good night.
00:46:59Good night.
00:46:59Oh, uh, boys, don't forget to thank Miss Marlowe for me.
00:47:09Oh, no.
00:47:09I'll take care of her personally.
00:47:20What'd you do with it?
00:47:21Just keep driving.
00:47:22I'll show you.
00:47:23That's good, because somehow we're going to put it back.
00:47:27Oh, we are.
00:47:29Huh.
00:47:29What do you suggest?
00:47:30Going to Michael's and telling him we overlooked it?
00:47:33We accidentally picked up $80,000?
00:47:36I don't want any part of it.
00:47:38You wanted it as much as I did.
00:47:39It was written all over your face.
00:47:41All right, maybe I did in a way.
00:47:43Who wouldn't?
00:47:44Sure, I thought of what I could do with all that dough.
00:47:46But wanting it and taking it are two different things.
00:47:50Sid, we took it.
00:47:51It just wasn't there.
00:47:54Who's to know how much was there in the first place?
00:47:58Nobody can prove anything.
00:48:00It's marked money, Cal.
00:48:01What are you going to do with it?
00:48:02Use it for wallpaper?
00:48:05I don't know about you, but I know what I'm going to do with my half.
00:48:08Keep it a while, then sell it.
00:48:11Slow down.
00:48:12It's right up there.
00:48:13On the right.
00:48:21Well, that's us over there, the little one.
00:48:29Number 36.
00:48:31Best place I could think of in a hurry.
00:48:35We like to go fishing weekends.
00:48:38The man rents it to us by the month, and for a little extra, he keeps it here for us.
00:48:42It'll do for a while.
00:48:44That's great.
00:48:45What makes you think I'll go along with you?
00:48:50Jack, we're partners.
00:48:52We've got a lot to lose.
00:48:54Especially you.
00:48:55You've got Francie and the kid to think about.
00:48:58Thanks for reminding me.
00:49:01We've both got keys.
00:49:04Number 36.
00:49:05You've done a pretty good job all the way around, haven't you?
00:49:12I think so.
00:49:14Now, when we get together Monday, we'll really have something to celebrate.
00:49:27Jack.
00:49:28I know I sound like an old nag, but please don't drink so much.
00:49:31It's supposed to be a party, isn't it?
00:49:33Of course.
00:49:33We're supposed to be celebrating with great cops we are, isn't that right?
00:49:36Oh, Jack.
00:49:37So we'll eat, drink, and be merry.
00:49:55I'll handle it.
00:49:57I'm needing to fix this leg.
00:50:01Why don't I make the drinks?
00:50:02Just sit down, will you?
00:50:03What's the matter?
00:50:06You two had a lover's spat?
00:50:11Dinner won't be ready for a while.
00:50:13I'm doing something special.
00:50:15I hope you like spaghetti.
00:50:16I do a nice sauce.
00:50:17I know.
00:50:19Or maybe it's too hot for it.
00:50:21Oh, no.
00:50:21I love it.
00:50:24Well, you haven't seen the forums until you've seen Bridget.
00:50:26I'll go bring her out.
00:50:28Leave her where she is, Francie.
00:50:31But it's cooler in the air.
00:50:33Besides, Lily and Cal would like to see her, wouldn't you?
00:50:35Oh, go on.
00:50:36Bring her in.
00:50:37Go ahead.
00:50:39I don't want Bridget in here.
00:50:41I don't want to go.
00:50:41I don't want to go.
00:50:41I don't want to go.
00:50:42I don't want to go.
00:50:46All right.
00:50:48Look, Francie, why don't I go in and see her, huh?
00:50:51Let's go.
00:51:05If you...
00:51:07One ginger ale, one club soda.
00:51:21Is that correct, Sergeant?
00:51:23That's right.
00:51:25What are you waiting for?
00:51:26It's a charge.
00:51:27Oh, I know that.
00:51:28I saw your picture in the paper when you tracked that man down.
00:51:32Chase and all.
00:51:33It was great.
00:51:36Thanks, son.
00:51:37You keep going like this or you're really going to louse things up.
00:51:54You know that, don't you?
00:51:57I can't even look at my own kid anymore.
00:52:00I can't look in the mirror without gagging.
00:52:02Come on, Jack.
00:52:10Snap out of it.
00:52:13Look, leave this whole thing to me, will you?
00:52:16Believe me, it's going to be all right.
00:52:20Well, I tried sleepy time down south on her and she wouldn't go for it.
00:52:24She's a little dull, Jack.
00:52:26Spike this for me, Sergeant.
00:52:27Why don't you go for it?
00:52:27Why don't you go for it?
00:52:27Why don't you go for it?
00:52:28Why don't you go for it?
00:52:29Why don't you go for it?
00:52:30Why don't you go for it?
00:52:31Jack, why don't you give me a hand for the salad?
00:52:32He's great on salads.
00:52:33Yeah.
00:52:34Here you go, Annie.
00:52:35Thanks.
00:52:36Well, you're welcome.
00:52:38You're welcome.
00:52:39Here you go, Annie.
00:52:40Thanks.
00:52:50Cal.
00:52:51What's the matter with Jack tonight?
00:52:55I don't know.
00:52:56Maybe his feet hurt too.
00:53:00Glad you're working tonight.
00:53:02Good night.
00:53:03Why?
00:53:04We'll get on the beach and cool off.
00:53:26Hello?
00:53:27No, no, this is Sunset 25690.
00:53:38Never saw your boy so jumpy.
00:53:43What are you doing, running a bookie joint on the side?
00:53:47No.
00:53:48Nothing that legitimate.
00:53:52Oh, it was great, Francie.
00:54:00Oh, no. I'm stuffed. I can't eat another bite.
00:54:04Oh, it's wonderful. You're beautiful and you can cook.
00:54:07Oh, that's too much.
00:54:08Francie, let me give you a hand with the dishes, huh?
00:54:10No. Oh, thank you, Helen.
00:54:12Jack, you don't know what you're missing. It was good.
00:54:22You know, you got a nice place here, Jack.
00:54:30Well, you will have as soon as all this green stuff goes up.
00:54:35Just like some cheap murder mystery.
00:54:38What do you mean?
00:54:40I planted something else besides flowers there.
00:54:44What are you talking about?
00:54:46I buried a key there.
00:54:48That's the number 36 on it.
00:54:52Some people plant flowers in their backyards.
00:54:55I plant keys.
00:54:59Would you like us to leave?
00:55:04Yeah.
00:55:10I'm going to hold you to that profit.
00:55:12Okay.
00:55:13Or she's smart. Wouldn't let me do a dish.
00:55:15Well, Lily's going to make a new woman of me.
00:55:17Going to get me a new hairdo and...
00:55:19I might even go for a new dress.
00:55:22Don't you listen to Lily. She'll get you into bad habits.
00:55:24Baby, uh, you about ready? It's getting a little late.
00:55:27Yeah, Francie, I forgot I'm a working girl. Got to go.
00:55:29Oh, that's right.
00:55:31And so long, honey.
00:55:33Thanks for the dinner. It was a wonderful dinner.
00:55:35I'm glad you liked it.
00:55:36Will you give me the recipe with that sauce sometime?
00:55:38Uh-huh. Flatterer.
00:55:39Francie, thanks for having me.
00:55:40I'm so glad you came.
00:55:41Night, Jack.
00:55:42Night.
00:55:42Night, Cal.
00:55:43See you tomorrow, Jack.
00:55:44Night.
00:55:44Night.
00:55:45Bye.
00:55:47Bye.
00:55:47Bye.
00:55:47I don't think they had a good time.
00:56:03Oh, I was just kidding about the dress and the hairdo.
00:56:06We'll save that money.
00:56:08Never mind.
00:56:09You spend it on yourself.
00:56:10It's ours, isn't it?
00:56:11We came by it honestly, didn't we?
00:56:15Of course we did.
00:56:17All right.
00:56:19I'm sorry, Francie.
00:56:21I...
00:56:22Hello?
00:56:32Yes, sir.
00:56:37No, he just left here.
00:56:39I don't know where he's going to be.
00:56:43All right.
00:56:43I'll tell him.
00:56:44Maybe I can reach him at home later.
00:56:47Yes, Captain.
00:56:48We'll see you first thing in the morning.
00:56:51Good night.
00:56:58Is anything wrong?
00:57:00No.
00:57:01No, nothing's wrong.
00:57:02You've always told me when something bothered you.
00:57:04Listen, Francie, why don't you get some rest?
00:57:09Maybe I can help.
00:57:24Nice people.
00:57:26Hmm?
00:57:26Francie and Jack.
00:57:28Oh.
00:57:29Too bad, though.
00:57:32What do you mean?
00:57:33Well, people like that not getting along.
00:57:36Hmm.
00:57:38Maybe they're having a little trouble in the dough department.
00:57:41Could be.
00:57:42Guy with house payments to meet, and wife, and kid to look after.
00:57:46He gets a little rough.
00:57:46Figures.
00:57:48Hmm.
00:57:50Jack seemed to have something else on his mind, though.
00:57:53Maybe he did.
00:57:53Maybe you got something on your mind.
00:57:55And what is it?
00:57:56Nothing.
00:57:56I was just thinking.
00:57:59Now I've got to hand it Francie, the way she runs that house and everything.
00:58:03I couldn't do it.
00:58:03Must be something wrong with me.
00:58:05Hmm.
00:58:05Yeah, nothing wrong with you.
00:58:07You wouldn't want to be a cop's wife, would you?
00:58:08No.
00:58:10Rice is for eating, not throwing.
00:58:13That's the way I feel.
00:58:16We're a lot alike, Lily.
00:58:18We won't settle for just anything.
00:58:19We want the best.
00:58:21And you know what?
00:58:22We're going to get it.
00:58:25Yeah, that's why I'm putting the show on the road.
00:58:27What do you mean?
00:58:40I thought I'd try Las Vegas for a while.
00:58:42It's quite a spot.
00:58:43You ever been there?
00:58:44Nope.
00:58:46I thought with all that loot floating around,
00:58:48there ought to be a way of getting some of it for little me.
00:58:51Don't you think?
00:58:53Yeah.
00:58:53Yeah, sure.
00:58:55Uh, who's going to get it?
00:58:57Oh, that's a silly question, isn't it?
00:59:00I don't like that.
00:59:01So you don't like it.
00:59:04Lily, if it's money that's troubling you,
00:59:07maybe I can afford you.
00:59:09How does that sound?
00:59:10Like a pretty cold proposition.
00:59:12Thanks, I'll make it under my own steam.
00:59:14Yeah, I bet you will.
00:59:16You should be a smash with that voice of yours.
00:59:19That's what you had in mind, isn't it?
00:59:20Singing.
00:59:20Shut up.
00:59:21What I do is none of your business.
00:59:24It has been.
00:59:26You dirty little cop.
00:59:28What's to keep me here?
00:59:30Me?
00:59:30That's a laugh.
00:59:31I was getting along fine until I met you.
00:59:34Sure, I was broke.
00:59:35I still am.
00:59:37But I didn't have to answer to anybody,
00:59:38and that's the way I like it.
00:59:39Oh, that's the way you like it, is it?
00:59:41That's why you're running out, huh?
00:59:43Uh-oh.
00:59:43You're stuck for me.
00:59:44That's why you're running out.
00:59:45Same as I am for you.
00:59:47Isn't that right?
00:59:47Leave me alone, will you?
00:59:49Answer me.
00:59:49Leave me alone.
00:59:50Isn't that right?
00:59:51I don't know.
00:59:59Isn't that right?
01:00:09Brunner and Farnham are outside, sir.
01:00:13Are you sure about the fingerprints on those suitcases?
01:00:16I'm positive.
01:00:18It's funny, because hearing Brunner's and Farnham's report...
01:00:23Uh, thanks, uh, Stimson.
01:00:27Tell him to come on in.
01:00:28Right, sir.
01:00:31Captain will see you now.
01:00:37Hello, boys.
01:00:38Captain.
01:00:39Captain.
01:00:39Sit down.
01:00:42I was, uh, I was just looking over your report here.
01:00:47Checked all contents of car.
01:00:51You told me that you, uh, checked those suitcases, didn't you?
01:00:55Yes, sir.
01:00:56Uh-huh.
01:00:56And you report here that you did.
01:00:59That's right.
01:01:02Now, I can't figure out how you could do it.
01:01:05Do what, sir?
01:01:06Well, how you could check those bags without leaving any fingerprints?
01:01:10Because your prints were everywhere else around the place, except on those two suitcases.
01:01:14It was just the dead man's.
01:01:15Well, you know, Jack probably figured that, that he had, you know, all the excitement and everything.
01:01:21So it was a mistake, huh?
01:01:23Pretty careless one, don't you think?
01:01:27Those bags might have, uh, been important clues in this case.
01:01:30That's, uh, that's no way to slough off possible evidence.
01:01:34I'm sorry, Captain.
01:01:35Won't happen again, sir.
01:01:38By the way, there was, uh, there was almost $200,000 in that box.
01:01:43Yeah, we read that in the newspaper.
01:01:47That leaves around, uh, $100,000 that's still missing.
01:01:52We know some of it was passed, and probably some of it was sold in the hot money market, but not that much.
01:01:58Mr. Bonding Company will undoubtedly send out a special investigator.
01:02:03You'll want to talk to both of you and ask you a few questions.
01:02:07Oh, sure.
01:02:07Anytime.
01:02:08Uh, is it, uh, is that all, sir?
01:02:17That's all.
01:02:17Thanks, boys.
01:02:18Yes?
01:02:30Yes?
01:02:30Mr. Stimson, uh, will you have, uh, somebody bring up those two suitcases?
01:02:35Yes, sir.
01:02:40Want a cup of coffee, Jack?
01:02:42It's hot.
01:02:43No.
01:02:44Didn't your mommy ever teach you to say no, thank you?
01:02:51How does it feel to have your hands on that kind of money?
01:02:54I didn't feel anything.
01:02:56I hear there's a lot that hasn't turned up.
01:02:59Now, if you'd, uh, like to make a small investment, Jack, I know a guy who's drilling an oil well near Segundo.
01:03:05There's a grand or two still open.
01:03:08Jack!
01:03:09What's with you?
01:03:13You're looking to start something?
01:03:15What's the matter with you guys?
01:03:17Can't you take a joke?
01:03:20I don't like the joke.
01:03:22You all right?
01:03:23Yeah.
01:03:24Your boyfriend a little over-trained.
01:03:34Sergeants Bruner and Farnham, report to Captain Michael's office.
01:03:38Bruner and Farnham, Captain Michael's office.
01:03:51You, uh, you wanted to see us, Captain?
01:03:53Yes, boys.
01:03:59I want you to take a look at the clothes in these suitcases.
01:04:03This coat here at Farnham, slip yours off.
01:04:05Try it on.
01:04:06Are you serious?
01:04:07I want to show you something.
01:04:09All right, sir.
01:04:12Because you're a pretty big fella.
01:04:19A little snug, isn't it?
01:04:20It certainly is.
01:04:23What's all this, sir?
01:04:25Well, the driver of that car was bigger than you.
01:04:28Wasn't he?
01:04:29Yeah.
01:04:29Mr. Cinch, you couldn't have worn this coat.
01:04:31So you must have had a partner.
01:04:35Maybe that's where the rest of the money is.
01:04:37I wonder where they were going to meet.
01:04:39No labels here, of course.
01:04:44It's a pretty well-tailored coat.
01:04:46We'll check all these clothes.
01:04:47Maybe the stitching will give us something.
01:04:56Yes?
01:04:57Oh, that's all right.
01:04:58Go ahead.
01:05:00Uh-huh.
01:05:00Farnham?
01:05:07Well, send him home.
01:05:08I'll have Lubin find a replacement.
01:05:14Police surgeon down Georgia Street.
01:05:16When you tell me you were a fighter,
01:05:17we could use you at the police benefits.
01:05:20It wasn't anything, Captain.
01:05:22Well, we were just horsing around in the locker room.
01:05:24Not quite the way I heard it.
01:05:27Well, let's forget it.
01:05:29That's all, boys.
01:05:42I got down for four.
01:05:44Yeah.
01:05:46These are four, ten, sixty, eighteen.
01:05:49And in spades.
01:05:50Sergeant, dear, that's another game.
01:05:52And you know something?
01:05:53You owe me twenty bucks.
01:05:55Nobody could be this bad.
01:05:56You're not trying.
01:05:57Sure I am, honey.
01:05:58And you're not very bright.
01:06:00Can't keep my mind on the game tonight.
01:06:03Come on.
01:06:04Give me the twenty.
01:06:05We're only three customers in the Emerald Club tonight.
01:06:07Very bad for the purse.
01:06:09There you are.
01:06:10Plenty more where that came from.
01:06:12Go ahead.
01:06:20Good deal.
01:06:22I saw your picture in the paper.
01:06:32Smart cops, you boys.
01:06:34But not too smart.
01:06:38Who is this?
01:06:39Never mind the details.
01:06:40That money belongs to me.
01:06:42You're going to give it up or I'll have to tell the teacher all about it.
01:06:46Who is this?
01:06:47Don't waste my time, Bruner.
01:06:48I know how much was in that box.
01:06:52I'll let you know where and when.
01:06:54I'll let you know where and when.
01:06:55I'll let you know where and when.
01:06:56I'll let you know where and when.
01:06:57I'll let you know where and when.
01:06:58I'll let you know where and when.
01:06:59I'll let you know where and when.
01:07:00I'll let you know where and when.
01:07:01I'll let you know where and when.
01:07:02I'll let you know where and when.
01:07:03I'll let you know where and when.
01:07:04I'll let you know where and when.

01:07:40Well, it was fun while it lasted.
01:07:43You and I are going to last a lot longer than you think.
01:07:47Come on.
01:07:48Drive you home.
01:08:05Is Jack there?
01:08:07Oh, Cal.
01:08:10Where is he?
01:08:11What's wrong?
01:08:12He's in trouble.
01:08:13I know he is.
01:08:15I heard him take the car out about an hour ago.
01:08:18About two o'clock.
01:08:19I tried to stop him, but...
01:08:19I tried to stop him, but...
01:08:20Oh, my God.
01:08:21Oh, my God.
01:08:22What's wrong?
01:08:23Oh, Cal.
01:08:24Where is he?
01:08:25What's wrong?
01:08:26He's in trouble.
01:08:27I know he is.
01:08:28I heard him take the car out about an hour ago.
01:08:29About two o'clock.
01:08:30I tried to stop him, but...
01:08:31Oh, my God.
01:08:32Oh, my God.
01:08:33Oh, my God.
01:08:34Oh, my God.
01:08:35Oh, my God.
01:08:36Oh, my God.
01:08:37Oh, my God.
01:08:38Oh, my God.
01:08:39Oh, my God.
01:08:40Oh, my God.
01:08:41Oh, my God.
01:08:42Oh, my God.
01:08:43Uh, my God.
01:08:45Oh, my God.
01:08:58Been out riding?
01:09:06Francie was worried about you, Jack.
01:09:08Frankly, I was, too.
01:09:09What have we been doing?
01:09:11Checking up on our investment?
01:09:13What do you want?
01:09:15Who's still there?
01:09:16I don't know.
01:09:18Somebody was tailing me.
01:09:19Sure, somebody was tailing you.
01:09:22You know who?
01:09:23The guy whose coat you didn't fit.
01:09:27I, uh, I got a phone call tonight.
01:09:30You know, we've got a partner in this deal now.
01:09:33He'd like to meet us with the money.
01:09:36When?
01:09:38He said he'd let me know.
01:09:41You, uh...
01:09:43You weren't trying to cross me up tonight, were you, Jack?
01:09:48Cal, I...
01:09:48Jack, is that you?
01:09:54I'll meet you at Russo's in an hour.
01:09:57Okay.
01:09:58You've got a deal.
01:10:13Hiya, Murgatroyd.
01:10:15Come on, Murgatroyd.
01:10:24Who is it?
01:10:26Me.
01:10:27Oh.
01:10:34Lily.
01:10:35Hmm?
01:10:36Uh, I gotta talk to you.
01:10:38Oh, honey, I'm beat.
01:10:40Not now, later.
01:10:41Not later, now.
01:10:42Cal.
01:10:45Oh.
01:10:47Baby.
01:10:48Hmm?
01:10:48How would you like to go to Acapulco?
01:10:52Someplace like that.
01:10:54Well, this was worth waking up for.
01:10:58Oh, I haven't got the clothes for it.
01:11:01We can buy clothes down there.
01:11:03Yeah, and that $200 you loaned me will help.
01:11:06It wasn't a loan.
01:11:08Oh?
01:11:08Well, since when can cops go around
01:11:11passing out money like that?
01:11:13Cal.
01:11:14Yeah?
01:11:17When did your rich uncle die?
01:11:20Tonight.
01:11:22That's too bad.
01:11:23I'm sorry.
01:11:25You must have done him a big favor once, huh?
01:11:28Yeah, I did.
01:11:29I've heard of smart cops doing favors once in a while.
01:11:34But you know something, I don't blame them.
01:11:35After all, look at the risk they take for us taxpayers.
01:11:41Nellie, I want you.
01:11:43I've never wanted anything like I want you.
01:11:46Maybe we...
01:11:48Maybe we could even get married down there.
01:11:51I've always wanted to go to Mexico.
01:11:54Crazy about hot food.
01:12:05Hello?
01:12:08Yes, he's here.
01:12:09Who is it?
01:12:10It's Jack.
01:12:11He sounds funny.
01:12:12What do you want?
01:12:14Keep your shirt on.
01:12:15I'll be there.
01:12:17We're supposed to be on duty.
01:12:18I just took off for a little while.
01:12:21Can you leave tomorrow?
01:12:24Sure.
01:12:25Okay, I'll, uh...
01:12:27I'll call you later.
01:12:32Cal.
01:12:32Tell me something.
01:12:36What?
01:12:37Did Jack's rich uncle die tonight, too?
01:12:41No.
01:12:49Cal.
01:12:53Cal.
01:12:55What?
01:12:57I've changed my mind.
01:12:58I've changed my mind.
01:13:02What are you talking about?
01:13:05Look.
01:13:07Maybe I don't need that diamond bracelet.
01:13:10I'm kind of used to having you around.
01:13:12I don't want anything to spoil that.
01:13:15Nothing's going to spoil it, baby.
01:13:16Yeah, but maybe we really don't need these things.
01:13:20That's what you say today.
01:13:21But tomorrow you'll see something in the window.
01:13:23Something with a price tag on it.
01:13:25A big price tag.
01:13:26And you'll want it.
01:13:27And even if you don't, I will.
01:13:29And we're going to have those things.
01:13:31All right, have it your way.
01:13:35Take care.
01:14:01Give me a cup of coffee, honey, will you?
01:14:21Like?
01:14:22What took you so long?
01:14:24It's a very.
01:14:26I've got some news for you.
01:14:28Yeah?
01:14:28Well, we're not going to give the money to that hood.
01:14:36Well, now you're talking sense.
01:14:37We're going to turn it over to Michael's in the morning.
01:14:41Oh, we're going to turn it over to Michael's, huh?
01:14:44And what are you going to do for another job,
01:14:46if and when you get out?
01:14:47I don't know.
01:14:48But I'm not going on like this.
01:14:50I...
01:14:51Oh, hi, buddy.
01:14:52I thought you wanted to do so much for Francie and the kid.
01:15:01Not this way.
01:15:03Jack, will you believe me?
01:15:04I know what I'm doing about this money.
01:15:06We take it down to Mexico and sell it.
01:15:08So will you.
01:15:08Take a beating on it.
01:15:10But there'll be plenty left for both of us.
01:15:12Is she getting a little bit ahead of yourself?
01:15:14What do you mean?
01:15:16What about our partner?
01:15:19What about our partner?
01:15:20When he calls, we'll keep the appointment with him.
01:15:27He'll shoot in self-defense.
01:15:29Might even get a big promotion for him.
01:15:32Now we murder.
01:15:34You're sick, Cal.
01:15:36Should have known that a long time ago.
01:15:39You don't care about anything or anybody.
01:15:41You're sick.
01:15:43Coming from you, Jack, that hurts.
01:15:45We're no better than that hop-head money pusher you dragged in.
01:15:48Maybe even worse.
01:15:50He's got an expensive habit to support.
01:15:52That's his excuse.
01:15:53But what's ours?
01:15:54A couple of sticky-fingered cops.
01:15:57Thieves.
01:16:01So?
01:16:04So we're going to come clean.
01:16:05We're going to turn that money in before it's too late.
01:16:08We both got good records.
01:16:10Maybe they won't be too hard on us.
01:16:11I don't know.
01:16:12But we're going to come clean.
01:16:13Is that the way you want it?
01:16:22That's the way it's going to be.
01:16:23Okay.
01:16:28Okay.
01:16:31Well, what are we waiting for?
01:16:36Come on.
01:16:37Call it.
01:16:40Heads.
01:16:42You lose.
01:16:43We're going to go.
01:17:14It's under the cushion in the sack.
01:17:44So you were going to run out on me.
01:18:06Drop that sack.
01:18:08Come on, Cal.
01:18:09I'm not running out on you.
01:18:11Shoot!
01:18:36That's right over here.
01:18:42That's good.
01:18:43A little more.
01:18:44A little more.
01:18:45Right up against the trailer.
01:18:46That's it.
01:18:47Let's see now.
01:18:49Captain.
01:18:51You're going to be all right, Farnham.
01:18:56You're lucky.
01:18:59Where's Bronner?
01:19:01Dead.
01:19:06He's better off.
01:19:08Captain.
01:19:09Georgia Street's on the way.
01:19:10Can I help?
01:19:12You can pick up all this money that Farnham found.
01:19:17That's the voice.
01:19:20That's the other guy.
01:19:22No, Farnham.
01:19:24No.
01:19:25He's one of our men.
01:19:30There never was anybody else.
01:19:44A policeman, unlike most men, lives close to evil and violence.
01:19:49He can, like all men, make his own private hell.
01:19:52The good pass through it with minor birds.
01:19:55The evil stumble and fall.
01:19:57And die in strange places.
01:20:19Jews kill that fire in many foundations.
01:20:25Have to unfortunately.
01:20:27Do you need a group of people moving towards better?
01:20:30Let's there's some single service.
01:20:32I verloren.
01:20:33Come on.
01:20:34You did cars.
01:20:35Let's see.
01:20:36Whenever everybody is wearing it.
01:20:39Become one of our people.
01:20:42We can just wait for the pictures of the corridor.
01:20:44So
01:20:46I'm sorry.
01:20:47Look how that was in danger.
