Thames Water has announced further works in London.

00:00Work to install 180 metres of crash barriers around a southwest London reservoir would close a key stretch of road for 15 weeks starting on Monday the 7th of July.
00:14Thames Water stated that the £2 million project was intended to make Grand Junction Reservoir in Hampton, Richmond safer for the public by preventing vehicles or debris from falling into the reservoir.
00:30According to CrashMap.co.uk, which recorded reports of crashes involving injuries, there had been 10 crashes on Upper Sunbury Road, which ran alongside the reservoir between 2019 and 2023.
00:46In 2019, injuries were reported when two vehicles left the carriageway onto the reservoir side.
00:54Thames Water have mentioned that there might be more noise and traffic during the works, but assured that sound barriers would be installed where necessary.
01:07Delivery Director Roslyn Unegbu explained that upgrading infrastructure and assets was crucial to the project, which would result in improved security for customers as the company continued to deliver high-quality drinking water.
01:25She has expressed regret for the disruption that might be caused during the project and stated that the company had worked with all stakeholders to minimise the impact, ensuring that residents could continue with their daily activities as best as possible.
