The third Perpaduan Charity Hike at Penang City Park in George Town, Penang, saw a record turnout of 2,400 participants, raising RM50,000 for 11 charitable homes.

00:02The third edition of the Perpadu'an Charity Hike at Penang City Park drew its largest crowd yet,
00:12with around 2,400 participants hitting the trails in support of a good cause.
00:17Led by Penang International Hikers, PIH, Chairman Sim Thien Sang, affectionately known as Jungle Sim,
00:24the event brought together people from all walks of life, from schoolchildren to senior citizens,
00:30to raise 50,000 ringgit for 11 charitable homes, each of which will receive 3,000 ringgit.
00:38He said, this year, about 1,300 students from 17 schools joined the hike, making up more than half of the total turnout.
00:48Event Secretary Christine Chia said the 5-kilometer route was the most popular,
00:53attracting some 1,500 participants, followed by 600 for the 10-kilometer trail
01:00and 250 for the 3-kilometer route designed for primary schoolchildren.
01:06200 volunteers were stationed along the trails to ensure participants' safety and provide guidance throughout the hike.
01:13The scenic jungle trails offered a refreshing outdoor experience,
01:17with the 10-kilometer route reaching Bukit Chendana and the 5-kilometer trail covering the halfway point.
01:24Chia noted that the event allowed hikers to enjoy nature while learning to support one another through physical challenges.
01:32To reward participation and enthusiasm, 88 lucky draw prizes worth a total of 20,000 ringgit were given away.
01:39Favourable weather conditions after the overnight rain made for a cool and pleasant hike through the misty forest.

01:50expressed hope that the charity hike would become an annual tradition.
